Hi everyone,
I’m a little shaken and I thought I’d warn you guys. When you’re out side and drinking something (esp something sweet) put the top back on the bottle inbetween sips!I was in a bocce tournament today and it’s a real casual event so I was drinking a Mike’s hard Cranberry lemonaid . I never put the bottle down, it was in my hand the whole time. Near the end of the game I took a big sip and it felt as though I had swallowed a large vitamin, looked down at my bottle and there was a large wasp floating around trying to get out. So I can only come to the conclusion that I swallowed his friend. I was very lucky he did’t sting me on the way down, my throat would’ve closed for sure and I’m 45min from the hospital.
Please take care this holiday Weekend,
Monique

CATS! can't live with them, Can't live without them!
Why do they lay in your path and refuse to move out of your way and then complain bitterly when you trip over them?August 30, 2003 at 10:40 pm #1015072How scary for you! I’m glad you’re all right. Thanks for the reminder..

August 31, 2003 at 2:37 am #1015067Not fun! Glad you are fine. I bought some ice cream in the 1/2 gallon size once and scooped some out and as I was eating it I crunched on a frozen fly. Took me a while to enjoy ice cream again. Peg M

Poor thing!! How scary that would be! I’m so glad you’re o.k!A similar thing happened to a friend at a picnic several years ago, but he actually got stung on the tongue by a yellow jacket hiding in a piece of swiss cheese! It had been on a platter with some fruit and crackers, only loosely covered with plastic. Fortunately, he didn’t react badly to the sting and cooled the pain by sucking on jello shots…not a recommended remedy, I’m sure, but he sure was a lot more comfortable, LOL! Wasps and yellow jackets can be really nasty, so since then nothing is left out that they can get to…

August 31, 2003 at 8:56 am #1015068Geez Monique! So glad he didn’t sting you on his way down too! Wow!
I gulped down a drink of my sugared coffee and it felt just a tad, well, bumpy shall I say, looked in the cup and there were like 100 black ants STILL IN the cup, don’t know how many I swallowed! Eewwwwwwwww, I just say a little more protein and it was sugared to boot!;)
August 31, 2003 at 9:01 am #1015071wow all those stories are very Stephen Kingish! I got my scarries this morning, YUCK!!!! I hate that wasps story so much, my brain won’t accept it, I immediately decided you swallowed the piece of bark that the wasp had been sitting on when it fell out of the tree.
man! I”m glad you are ok.see ya

You are very lucky!
Up here in wasp country (Minnesota), we learned that long ago, keep you beverages covered at all times! It hasn’t been too bad this year due to our drought the past 6 weeks, but during wet summers it gets really bad.

August 31, 2003 at 11:20 pm #1015077I just got back from the labor day corn roast festivities and I thought I’d take a peek back. I just wanted to say thaks again for the well wishes and concern. The other “I swallowed….” stories have made me feel a whole lot beter about my taste of extreme sushi! after reading Mike’s post all I can think of is that song/story from elementry school about the old woman that swallowed the fly… I will definatly look before I eat or drink now (esp ice cream!)
