I wish our humidity was 11%. Today it was 94F/34C with 60% humidity, and it’s been a solid week like that. That kind of heat is not normal for Rhode Island. I have a studio that’s in the basement of a four-story factory building and on the north side. It’s relatively cool in this kind of heat wave but the humidity is even higher and so paintings dry very slowly and I end up feeling a bit slimey. I go over there to work early in the morning for a couple hours and then back again at night, but the humidity gets to me. I have been thinking about getting a dehumidifier for the space.

It was 102 F yesterday. Definitely too hot to paint outdoors. Fortunately our studio is air conditioned. For plein air, we just go up into the mountains. At 10,000 feet the temps are delightful.
