My initial thoughts:
I’ve loaded up a quite a few easel products into the product review system. So far, the categories are:
– Easel Accessories
– Art Workstations (the big, all-in-one workstations)
– Children’s Easels
– Display/Presentation Easels
– Giant Easels (oversized)
– Pochade Boxes
– Portable and Field Easels (french!)
– Sketchbox Easels
– Studio Easels (A-Frames, H-Frames, Single Masts, etc.)
– Table Top and Table-Mount EaselsWe need to focus on the rating types for the various easel-related categories.
My initial thought was to just have an “overall rating” question for easels. But then I thought, we could probably get a bit more specific than this:
The Current List:
Here is the current list (which I will try to keep as up-to-date as possible):
-
[*] Quality of Construction: 1=poorly made, 5 = Excellent Quality
[*] Durability: 1=poor, 5 = Very Durable!
[*] Value for the Money (1=a waste, 5 = worth every penny!)Thoughts?
Cheers.
ScottSeptember 18, 2002 at 8:38 pm #489719scott, since i am not the best for words and usually cant explain what i mean, what about flexability, ease of handling ( like moving it up and down) and also the ht of biggest canvas one can use
since i am short, to me it is important to have a painting level thats easy for me to use(dont laught, sometimes i have to use two chairs to get to the height (set by mfg) that others would call tooooo low)nicoletta

After thinking this through some more, it occured to me that some subcategories of easels will be different. For example:
Portable & Field Easels: Handling, Set-up, Durability, Value for the Money
Gigantic Easels: Handling, Assembly, Durability, Value for the Money
Pochade Boxes: Durability, Value for the Money
All other categories: Handling, Durability, Value for the Money
etc.

April 19, 2011 at 10:17 pm #489718Some of us use other sorts of work stations for 2-D media, such as drafting tables, or artists’ horses. These do not fit under easels OR furniture.
I do not mean secondary tables any of us might use to hold things or for matting etc, but those used as the primary furniture equipment for the original artistic work.
