February 2013 Watercolor Challenge – Hibiscus

Thank you Doug, it is not your screen the painting is too pale, it is a problem that I always have and despite three washes on this one it does not have the body to it. Not sure if it is a problem of water to paint ratio or choice of colours but I can’t seem to improve.
Looking forward to seeing more.

I’m not keen on doing flowers but I find doing Doug’s challenges very helpful due to seeing other posts, which all those posted look great. strathmore 140.6×9.davinci paints. Thanks Doug. James

Glad you gave it ago James. Challenging yourself is a way to grow your artistic skills. I often challenge myself to paint something when I am not sure I can pull it off.

Been busy prospecting in the local mountains, but had to take time out for this challange. Haven’t painted a flower since childhood. This is 10×10″ on arches 140lb cold press.
