I make landscape drawings with graphite sticks and blocks. Arches is good but I have now settled on Saunders Waterford; it’s 100% rag, mould made and does the job well for me. In contrast to what’s said above, I do use the rough as I prefer the tooth and I dislike the ‘slidey’ characteristics of hotpressed (hotpressed is great for calligraphy however). It depends on the degree of photo-realism you are after.
For larger drawings I also use Fabriano from a roll (Fabriano Artistico). To begin with this was a choice based upon what I could get on a big roll, but I’ve come to know it now and have only good things to say of it.
PLEASE how do I make these dreadful yellow things go away? OMG there's even more of the awful things now.
