I have a Toshiba laptop and its biggest fault as far as I am concerned is that it doesn’t have an indicator light to show when it is downloading.
Does anyone know of a piece of software tht could show when the computer was downloading and what the progress was ?

I don’t know of software that’ll do what you want, but how about simply opening the folder to which you download files and monitor the progress there? You can refresh the display (press F5 in Windows) to see the changing file size, and when it stops changing it’s either done or the download failed. I don’t think it’ll show % progress, but it’s better than nothing.

I have now found a piece of software called “Free Downloader” which not only shows the download progress but can download several items at the same time.

Doesn’t your browser show downloads with an icon to click for progress info?
Firefox does, I don’t download much with chrome or/chromium..
