September 24, 2024 at 7:55 am #1561434Oh, my misunderstanding! Didn’t read your post carefully enough as I was so taken with the display. Ha ha. Well, they are beautiful photos.

September 24, 2024 at 8:15 am #1561436Wow, that display is amazing. We don’t see many butterflies here, cool to see all the colours they can be.
So here are mine, each is 3.5 inches square on mixed media paper. I plan to make a set of coasters with these.
C&C always welcome. Michelle

Every painting is a new adventure.September 24, 2024 at 8:33 am #1561441I’m glad everyone is enjoying the butterfly display I found!
Michelle – Those are gorgeous little guys! You’ve put and amazing amount of detail into them and they make such a cohesive set. How will you turn them into coasters?
Colin – No worries. I’m honored you consider my painting skills up to that level!
September 24, 2024 at 12:07 pm #1561454Michelle, gorgeous! I love the transparent thinness of the wings!
September 24, 2024 at 12:51 pm #1561456Michelle – Wow those are fantastic paintings. Such detail and so delicate.

September 24, 2024 at 1:41 pm #1561459Carl, incredible sky! Such a beautiful scene, butterflies travel so far for such a delicate insect.
Kay, that is wild! Great colors and technique.
OzeanBay, great addition! I’d love to see it glow. The butterfly boxes are so lovely though I always feel bad for them!
Maryinasia, beautiful paintings, I really like the second one, it’s so painterly.
Cindy, that’s so realistic, it looks 3D!
Maureen, such a pretty little butterfly. Do people raise butterflies there? A lot of people here do with the monarchs and swallowtails.
Christel, what a striking looking butterfly, love the background too.
Michelle, absolutely gorgeous!
Colin, what a lovely painting. Beautiful.
Mona, don’t you dare get me started on yet another hobby. That looks so cool!! I love it.

Find me on FacebookSeptember 24, 2024 at 1:50 pm #1561461I seem to have forgotten how to paint it happens to me once or twice a year!
I started this and then totally mucked it up. I like how it looked at this stage.
Then once I messed it up, I thought I’ll clean off my palette and see if that helps being blocked. Didn’t want to waste the paint so I used a palette knife, did this in about five minutes and I kind of love it hahaha. Silly looking thing.

September 24, 2024 at 4:23 pm #1561468Virgina – How fun! I like them both, but I really like your first one. It’s almost as though there’s a phantom butterfly visiting the flower. (And it’s encouraging to know someone else blanks sometimes on how to do things you KNOW.)
September 24, 2024 at 7:42 pm #1561476Virginia – Cool. You did well. Fun abstract feel to both.

September 25, 2024 at 2:52 am #1561499Michelle, superb little paintings … incredible control!
Virginia .. I love the phantom look of the first too, light, ethereal movement.? … the second looks like pure fun!
What a good challenge this has been Carl, thank you …. and all the ‘Different Strokes’ in interpretation!
Cheers, Maureen

I guess we all have those days. Your smooshy paint butterfly is fun though.
Ozean, I have coaster molds and will put them in resin. Though I remembered after I started that I have wooden blanks that I could have used lol. Sometimes it’s possible to have too much stuff and too many choices.
