Jim, people never cease to amaze me! If you’d had blood dripping all over, I could possibly see a reason to object …. but I’d just think that was being creative and funny! I know we all appreciate your work!

Carl, you’re bluffing us of course, they re all painted props set up as a still life, …. aren’t they??? Frightening us like that! Good painting!

I’m having to change course ….. wanted to work from my own ref, printer won’t cooperate so change of plan this morning!

    Cheers, Maureen

Jim Your bat out of hell is great. Cool painting. We always enjoy your work here. I have always been a
    great fan of your painting.

Carl—that is really well done. You have created the sense of impending misadventure. The bluffs are nicely dobe, and the sky is really interesting as well. Such a nice day for a canoe trip…

Thanks everyone. I do like the way my painting looks on screen better, it glows more.

Colin, love your gargoyle. They say they protect the home.

Jim, love the lighting on the wings. I see no reason for the gallery to take it down. If someone doesn’t like it they don’t have to look at it.

Carl, that sky is amazing. The scene is scary when you realize what’s happening. I hope that’s not too big of a drop!

    C&C always welcome. Michelle

Thanks for all the great comments on my work!

Cindy – great little sketches. The camping site is well done.

Sheila – aww, as if that dog can read :good:

    Michelle – wonderful!

    Colin – love your ‘thinker’

Jim – Cool bat. He does look a bit hungry

Carl – interesting palette. Well done!

Colin — Of course you would have a gargoyle lounging in your garden! He looks quite comfortable.

Old_Hobbiest — Well painted bat! I’m sorry to hear how the gallery has treated you. It very much seems like it should have remained on the wall.

Carl — Eeeek! Now that’s scary! I especially like how you handled the rocks and water.

        **********

I still haven’t sat down and finished the painting…but I have drawn many ink drawings over in the inktober thread if you’d like to see those!

Well, whew, here ‘tis … if there’s anyone still around to see it!??

Subject is self-evident I think! Lives in Salisbury Cathedral, England.

A5, white acrylic ink, then a bit of black acrylic, pen and brush.

        Drawing then painting!!

Bits missing at the bottom but was working from image on screen and icons on image obscured it!

        Cheers, Maureen

Maureen — Whoa! That’s wonderful! I love how the paint and the ink work so well together. It really pops!

Ozeanbay – I saw your ink drawings and they are awesome. How you come up with the ideas, I don’t know.

Maureen – Wow, the paint just brings it to life.  You have such patience doing something like this.  Beautiful!

                Regards,

Maureen that is so well horrible! What were they thinking putting that is a cathedral? I will never fully understand the gothic art era. Beautiful work.

Maureen – Simply very awesome and gothic. Love it. :good:

Thanks all for comments on mine. Just to ease everyone’s minds, the person got out of the boat earlier and said uh-oh as the boat went over the falls……and then maybe not ….Happy Halloween!

Well! Thank you very much friends!

The initial drawing took about an hour or a little more – adding the watered down white ink and repairing with black acrylic took about 3/4 hour – very, very easy!

Carl – you love keeping us in suspense – admit it!!!!! lololol ……… glad you didn’t go over that cliff though!

                    Cheers, Maureen

Nice Maureen. I was wondering what you did with it after I saw the outline. Looks good as a monochromatic.

lol Colin, maybe to scare people into behaving?

Carl, I’ll stick with the story of the person getting out of the boat.

Gargoyles are stone creatures carved into buildings that serve as very ornate gutters, siphoning water from the building. They were created to ward off evil spirits and to symbolically warn people about hell.

                    Thanks to the know-all internet…..!!

I think they probably scared the living daylights out of people so they’d behave!??

Finally, here’s mine! It’s my tiny “Bat Beach” (4″x6″ on canvas board) that works for both “bat” and “scallop.”

Cindy, thanks for your compliments on my drawings. I’m not completely sure how I come up with my ideas, but some come from inspiration around me and I love combining disparate ideas and looking for the unusual to draw instead of something very creepy, scary, or gross. Those are just not really my thing (typically).
