I just wanted to say how much I appreciate doing this month’s challenge, and how great it is to reconnect with everyone. I liked doing these challenges years ago, and it’s a good kick to get working when I get a deadline.
That said, when it rains it pours – I got a paid commission on the first day of March and just finished it now, so I’ll get started on the Rome painting only this weekend – basically giving me a week and a half to finish a 100×75 canvas. Good chance I’ll be the last one to submit it, even if it’s after the end of the month.
I can’t wait to see what paintings you come up with!
March 17, 2021 at 7:48 am #1392764I’ve been working on mine, little by little. The reference image is kind of small but I’m using that as an excuse to keep it more impressionistic.
C&C always welcome. Michelle

Every painting is a new adventure.March 17, 2021 at 10:06 am #1392798Hi LavenderFrost, if you want a larger version of any reference I supplied, I have those – let me know and I’ll send it to you.
March 17, 2021 at 11:53 am #1392822We don’t mind if you’re late Assaf!?? … it gives the rest of us leeway to drag our heels … or brushes!
One of the good points about this site is that we can share images up to 5mb in size … that allows really big files!…. the other good thing is an end to resizing prior to uploading!
Congrats on the commission … pity it wasn’t about Rome!
Cheers, Maureen

March 18, 2021 at 10:03 am #1393042Assaf– Congratulations on your commission!
Maureen– Really!? No resizing before uploading?
My painting is also slowly coming along. Someone on WC said that all paintings go through an ugly phase…I think that’s where mine is now.
March 18, 2021 at 3:41 pm #1393115Ozean … yep, no resizing needed!
Acrylics definitely go through an ugly phase, at least once in any work!
Mine is planned, in my head!….. I keep getting distracted by weather decent enough to tidy the garden!
Cheers, Maureen

But I think just with the uploader, maybe not as an attachment.
I’m trying to relax a bit with this one but sometimes I’m not sure if I got past the ugly stage. lol

Every painting is a new adventure.March 19, 2021 at 2:33 pm #1393359How strange that it’s different for phones …. I upload from the iPad and they’re whatever size the camera takes … maybe the phone camera is a lot better. Attachments definitely go up to 5mb.
Cheers, Maureen

This scene – used acrylic paper… Took me a while , but I have enjoyed it. It is a bit out of my league in difficulty, but hey, its a challenge.
420 mm x300mm ( 300 is 12 inches)
Used posca pens for original outline… ( which are acrylics) then got on with it with hard and soft body paints.
Thanks Assaf
Cheers

March 20, 2021 at 11:58 pm #1393761Assaf -Thanks for hosting with some challenging references!
Merri – super!
I decided to go for a little less challenging reference and chose a single vespa from pixabay. Here’s to hoping that you don’t mind me taking another reference than yours. A4 in ac

March 21, 2021 at 1:10 am #1393765Thanks tuscanny, really like your vespa, you have done it well… Vespa motors are sort of what you think of when you go touring Italy.. heaps of them everywhere going one speed – Fast.!!!

Every painting is a new adventure.March 21, 2021 at 9:55 am #1393874Merri and Christel: Really good! Both have the same loose vibe. Did you collaborate?
Mine is still a WIP, but making slow movement towards “done”. Hope to spend some time on it today, but son & spouse just announced they are planning to make a Sunday breakfast masterpiece, so I have to hang around for that. Both are such good cooks.
