Assaf–Congratulations on the portrait going so well! Although I look forward to seeing it once it’s completed, I’ll miss seeing your flower. Thanks again for hosting!
Sheila–Beautiful flowers! That calla lily is especially vibrant. I have some colorful calla lilies blooming near my front door, but not nearly so bright!
June 30, 2021 at 8:45 am #1418769Just finished in time. I really need to get a different red one of these days, even tempted to get some fluorescent red. I tried using naphthol crimson and some neon pink craft paint. Also a little cadmium orange and some cad red light. I guess it turned out okay but I really did struggle with getting the colours I wanted.

Every painting is a new adventure.June 30, 2021 at 9:03 am #1418776Michelle— It’s wonderful! I love the texture of each petal and how you’ve made each its own entity while keeping the unity of the flower as a whole and creating a sense of depth and form. You’ve also handled the shadows and the colors you had well.
June 30, 2021 at 11:49 am #1418819Wow Michelle, this is beautiful. You show such depth and light, (something I really have to work on in mine). The colors are lovely also! Worth waiting for.
Regards,
Cindy
C/C always welcome
"Painting is my meditation"June 30, 2021 at 7:24 pm #1418879Beautiful Michelle! I like the “veining” of each petal. I really love seeing detail in others’ works knowing how difficult it is to achieve!
I think this red is perfect! I only have a single red but I mixed it with a magenta. I think red is my least favorite color. I often give up on paintings where I have to use red. Just a superstition on my part though.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.

The question is not what you look at, but what you see.

Getting picked up and paid for tomorrow. It’s taken me 5 weeks, and I really need to learn how to move faster. It’s a surprise gift, so I was asked not to post it online until later this month. When I’m allowed, I’ll post it in its own thread.
July 11, 2021 at 3:03 am #1421197Well done Assaf – I’m sure it will be excellent – and if they don’t pay you enough, refer them to me, your Manager!!!
Cheers, Maureen
