Virginia – beautiful! I’ve also got that burgundish red and I try to lighten it with yellow/orange; it works sometimes.
Thanks for the lovely comments on my rose.

June 24, 2021 at 8:28 pm #1417629Maureen-Beautiful soft velvety rose.
Ron-I would say you lived up to the challenge.
Christel-Lovely contrast.
I never like my paintings when they are in the beginning stages. wish you would have set the rose aside and come back to it. Sometimes stepping away for a bit is helpful. Your daisy turned out great!
Jim-It was smart to use some purple in the tulip to tie it together with the back ground.
Virginia-Love your glowing rose. Stunning!
Ozeanbay-Beautiful, vibrant rose. Love the background.

Ozean, your rose is lovely!
I did like using the fluorescences, I’ll probably use them again maybe in a street scene or sunset perhaps.

Virginia— Thank you also for your kind comment on my painting. I like your idea of using fluorescents in a street scene or sunset. In a book I have I saw someone use neon colors in an underpainting of a stream. It worked very well!

Cindy: Well done – I love the fun dude.
RoadLessTaken: Nice. There’s something uplifting about daisies – shame about the rose though.
Old_Hobbyist: Love the mix of blues, they really pop against the background.
Virginia: lovely colours, nice graduation
Ozeanbay: Beautiful rose, great shape and colour – I like the highlights you’ve used.
Deborah: those are really vibrant poppies. Lovely .

-Henry David ThoreauJune 27, 2021 at 3:07 am #1418060It’s been amazing to see all the beautiful paintings from everyone! Sadly, my commission has taken more time than I anticipated, so I won’t have the chance to play this month – I hope to take part again in the challenge in the future, when things calm down a bit.
On the good news, the portrait commission itself is coming along beautifully and I’m really enjoying it. I’ll post it in the forum when it’s done.
June 27, 2021 at 9:17 am #1418099Some nice inspiration there Sheila.
Assaf, glad your commission is going well, though it’s too bad we won’t see a flower from you. I understand how things take longer than you expect lol.
My rose is about a third done.
C&C always welcome. Michelle
