February 24, 2022 at 8:06 am #1459703David, nice grouping. I can imagine them like a family posing for a photo with big smiles on their faces.
Merri, both are nice and bright. The crop actually works well on the first one.
C&C always welcome. Michelle

Every painting is a new adventure.February 24, 2022 at 9:03 am #1459711David – Nicely done – great color, the variety of poses in the flowers is well done, and I like the wavy feel of the leaves.
Merri – Both are super – I like how you gave these a Van Gogh feel. Nice bright colors too.

February 24, 2022 at 9:06 am #1459712Merri, glad you could post these. I like the joyful feeling if the first but I reall live the treatment if the second … reminds me of when I used to make enamel jewellery, the bright, molten colours and the fluidity. Lovely!
Cheers, Maureen

I really like the fluid line work of the 2nd one, it reminds me of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, or Gauguin. Lovely work.
Thanks all for comments on mine!

February 24, 2022 at 4:00 pm #1459755David– Great that you were able to join in. Very nice painting, with a real punch of yellow and blue to chase away the February blahs.
Merri Great paintings! I like both of them. The first flower has a real -shake-your-hair-out looseness to it. I also like the second with the outlines around the petals in the central flower.

( Yes it is a challenge when the dob of paint starts to form a film within a short while because of the heat, so it’s a bit like digging into the donut to get to the jam- trying to find paint in the dob that is still fluid.)?
I can imagine them like a family posing for a photo with big smiles on their faces.
That is just the best analogy . well said.

February 24, 2022 at 5:19 pm #1459764David- very nice! the blues are as vivid as the yellows, that is a painting you can hang in a place that needs some pizazz!!
Merri-i really like how it flows, the middle sunflower really pops.thank you WC artist community for all you feedback!!
February 24, 2022 at 11:39 pm #1459789Colin, thanks for the comment. I am glad I popped in and noticed the challenge. Very enjoyable.
Merri, thank you for the comment. I like Michelle’s analogy as well. I did put some thought into the placement, glad it worked out in that manner.
Rose, I gave it to my wife for her craft room. When she designed her craft area she wanted all vivid colors, bright rainbow color rug, one of my few abstract paintings in all bright colors and we even found an orange mid century modern leather chair, which is not at all our furniture style, but the color worked great and it turned out to be amazingly comfortable too.

February 25, 2022 at 12:39 am #1459799David– Very nice! I really like your composition and bright colors.
Merri– Your recovered your first! I like both of them… close crop on the first and the way the center flower stands out in the second.

Mine is still a work in progress…

February 26, 2022 at 12:11 pm #1460052How apt that so many of us painted sunflowers (Ukraine’s national flower, I’m told) in those blues and yellows (Ukraine’s) colours.
I’m sure all our thoughts are with the Ukrainians at this time.
Cheers, Maureen

So true, Maureen. It’s a tragedy.

Well said, Maureen. I did not pick this aspect of the monthly theme with Ukraine in mind, so it is one of those strange coincidences.
