WC Darkroom Topic Challenge (C&C’s encouraged but not required)
Topic Challenge:One Word Challenge in B&W
Your assignment for this challenge is easy.
-
[*]Take a Darkroom Quality Photograph
[*]Either take it in B&W or transform it in post to B&W
[*]Upload it to this thread
[*]Attach a ONE WORD title to the photographExamples: Happy, Dog, Flower, Tree, Love, Chair, Piano, Delicatessen(!), etc.
All you have to do is take a photograph and attach a ONE WORD TITLE to it. The photograph must be in Black and White though. This is more of exercise in refining your skills in taking black and white photographs and was inspired by an excellent You Tube video that I watched. What you learn is that when you take photographs that you will later transform to B&W, you should be thinking about that prior to your shot so that your Black and White photographs contain the best contrast possible. The link is below.
“Seeing In Black and White” by Eileen Rafferty. It may be a bit lengthy, but I learned a whole lot from it.

This challenge was also inspired by Peterfg’s incredible B&W photo from the Shutterbug’s Store Front Challenge

May 27, 2019 at 3:52 pm #832890Natalie, I LUV your 70’s photo with all of the memorabilia in it. There are a lot of shades of grey which sort of “makes” the mood but there are still some white whites and dark greys. I am thinking that was your husband on the right, correct?
The fish photo is awesome with the extreme contrast you achieved. This is really eye catching and different in such a good way. The rippled water adds interest to the image and makes it look out of the ordinary.
The black cat against the white is a winner too.

Your packard shot is so sharp and the B&W is perfect! Your dragster steering wheel is a good example of low contrast , great composition.

A Gurkha is a soldier in the British Army recruited in Nepal.
They are in the Brigade of Gurkhas and have actually stood guard at Buckingham Palace.
They have proved their bravery on more than one occasion.
This gentleman is a retired Gurkha.Cherish yesterday,dream tomorrow,live today
