Good morning all
I’m early, I went to bed at 10.30 and slept seven hours!
Nothing special on the cards for today. I put a shelf up in Ruth’s craft room yesterday and took over two dozen craft books to the charity shop. I tested one on Ziffit and they offered 0.51, not worth the effort.
Invited to dinner and a game of chickenfoot with friends tomorrow.
We are planning a weekend at Nidd Hall with friends on 1st March and in April we have a trip to Amsterdam and the Keukenhof Gardens. Can’t wait.

We must leave our mark on this worldFebruary 13, 2019 at 1:45 am #781995Good evening Doug and all who follow.
Doug, who is him?
We are sitting on the eastern verandah with a strong breeze from the fan now. Its almost cool, except when the fan is turned off. A spray bottle of water helps. including for water fights.
Cats have been sleeping longly everywhere. At least they can get up close and personal with the tiled floors without condemnation.
Lunch was fresh fruit, plums and peaches, with rums and raisin ice cream. It does contain all food groups, except chocolate. I don’t like chocolate much. Roger loves it but he didn’t do the shopping, so tough.
I was delighted yesterday to see Hakeem El Araibi home from Thailand. He is a refugee from Bahrain who innocently went to Thailand for his honeymoon, like so many other Aussies, and was arrested by an interpol order from Bahrain. Two months in prison and he is home here now.

February 13, 2019 at 5:48 am #782013Good morning all. Intermittent rain and and endless cloudy sky today. Nothing in particular to do. I think I’ll make a macaroni cheese type bake for dinner so we can just pop it in the oven when we get back from various chores this afternoon. Tasty and comforting.
Doug: I’m intrigued, I’ve never hear of ‘Chickenfoot’. What is it? Envy your trip to Amsterdam. I lived there as a young hippy in my late teens. I thought I was walking arm in arm with the Grateful Dead towards a better world – looking back on it I was taking a year out from study. But it was fun.
Anita: I hope you don’t have Shingles – had it a few years ago and it was uncomfortable – but you do recover.
Char: hoping for steady progress for Ted. It must be such a relief to not have to make a journey all the time in such difficult and hazardous conditions. I am going back to work on that drawing of Barbara I mentioned. It’s of her working at a table rather than a portrait. A rear view that brought the comment, ‘you’d better not make my bum look big’. I haven’t. I will post a picture when I’m done.
JJ: what in inspirational video. I buy Christmas cards from the Mouth and Foot Artists. Their technical skills are wonderful.
We are such adaptable creatures.
Geoff: Waiting for deliveries and tradesmen is such a pain.
Need to get on with things for now. Hello to all others and will try to check in later.

February 13, 2019 at 7:01 am #781973Good morning John, cloudy but dry here and holding 10C.50F.
Chickenfoot is a domino game named because of the shape the dominoes make. It’s played with double nine dominoes, is not taxing and can be played for fun, though we usually play for 50p a game and we generally play two games per evening with up to six players.
Stacking the new series of Shetland up so we can binge-watch them

We must leave our mark on this worldFebruary 13, 2019 at 8:31 am #782005Hello Doug
I watched the first Shetland last night. Very good except some the accents (particularly Josh, almost impossible to understand – even with sound up and sitting right next to TV. Subtitles needed!!!

February 13, 2019 at 8:59 am #781977Good Morning!!
We have had bands of snow go through yesterday and today, snowing as I speak.
No appointments written on my calendar, roads are not plowed and slippery so I gather there is really no need for me to go out at least not until later in the afternoon.
Anita that it is NOT shingles.
Nancy, things are moving along at warp speed:)
Tracy, it is sure great to have you along when and if we need delicate  research.
No sign from Char might be due to her losing internet or electricity due to the freezing rain we had yesterday. I had a horrible thought, what will happen to Ted’s pump if the hydro goes out and their hydro is pretty fragile. Anyway, Char, I hope my imagination isn’t getting the better of me and all is well.
Annie and JJ, you weather is like ours was last year, not nice, for improvement.
JJ, what an inspiring young woman.
John, I am looking forward to your drawing.
Doug, Geoff and Mike to you. BBL

February 13, 2019 at 9:22 am #781991Not nice here either, schools closed again, or else no transportation for the kids.
Another day of catching up on projects I planned to do in our 2 mo break from the Village….time is getting on , we start back there March 3 and I had said I would make something, better get busy.
I’ll look forward to that new series of Shetland, Britbox or Acorn will have close captioning. It is not perfect, sometimes funny words come up but you get the gist of it.
Finally watched your snow video, JJ, how funny!! Fascinating effect, there is a an outdoor sculpture using that principle at the museum in Les and Uschi’s city.
I hope everyone has a good day! :grouphug:
Cheers, Lynn

February 13, 2019 at 10:37 am #781984everyone,
I was awake at 4:00 and stayed up until 7:00 when I went back for a nap. I didn’t wake up until 10:00. So I am way behind on everything and a busy day ahead. I have to do groceries, buy a few things like thread at Fabricland (which is right beside the gym), go the the gym, and I meet the boys’ bus at 3:00. As well, I’ll probably have to snowblow. It’s been snowing since last night and is continuing until Saturday according to the forecast. :rolleyes:Brian has to make an appointment to get the car in. The right hand low beam light wasn’t working. He bought a new bulb and got that in and it’s still not working. He will have to drive me to the art club and pick me up again tomorrow night because I don’t want to get a ticket.
I don’t have time for chatting so I’ll just wish you all a relaxed and pleasant day.

February 13, 2019 at 11:05 am #781986Good day all,
Ellen and I had the same sleep pattern.
We have more snow too. Not sure I’ll clear the drive or not.
I have clothes to wash and I want to work on my drawing too.

February 13, 2019 at 11:06 am #781978I called Char, hydro and internet are working but they are basically iced in. She is stressing about dressing the wound and the pump isn’t working properly and Ted isn’t eating properly and is weak and she is worried. Anyway she finally managed to get two nurses to come out supposedly around noon to repack the wound and see if they can get the pump to work:crossfingers:
