We must leave our mark on this worldJuly 30, 2024 at 1:55 am #1557583Good morning, Doug. My hip was bothering me last night, so I got up at a similar time last night and took a paracetamol with codeine! I don’t know what has caused it. Could be wear and tear.

?????I’ve been very upset to hear of the tragedy in Southport. Alder Hey, where Dr DIL works, have declared a major incident. She is unlikely to be involved but I imagine it’s traumatic for everyone in the area.
Greetings to All.

I got comfortable but couldn’t sleep. I finished my Girl in the Eagle’s Tlaons book. I think I have read all the Lisbeth Salander books so far,

July 30, 2024 at 6:11 am #1557591Good Morning!!!!
Hot and VERY humid.
I checked the weather report before going to bed to see if it was cool enough to keep the upstairs windows open over night. Weather report said yes but when I got up in the morning it felt like being in a steam bath, the humidity in the rooms was 65%,
Painting with Jeanette this afternoon.
I have been reading up on the Southport stabbing that QS mentioned. Just horrible.
Doug, so sorry about yet another sleepless night. Sooooo frustrating!!!!!
QS, puzzling about your sudden hip pain, hopefully something very transient.
JJ, the birds don’t mind the cold.
Bill, didn’t rain here but thunderstorms are expected. Sorry it means housecleaning
Steve, I hope you and Lisa are over the bug, could it have been Covid, but I don’t think that involves ear ache.
Nancy, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY for you and Jack!!!!! Hope there was some dingeling
Hi Betty!!!
Lynn, lovely photo and I too like the shadow boxes, they give wonderful depth!!
Lulu, poor John, kind of forced into doing this huge puzzle with a million (probably a thousand) tiny pieces Enjoy your dancing – of course you will

July 30, 2024 at 6:59 am #1557593everyone,
We had to keep the windows closed overnight because they predicted rain so it was hot in the house this morning. We only got a sprinkling overnight but with the windows now open it is 64% humidity in the house. Blue sky is peaking out between clouds so it going to heat up quickly. I’ve already watered the plants on the deck.
My sister is on her way to town for a couple of days. She has a mammogram appointment tomorrow. I Have a zoom meeting after lunch and I’m emailing back and forth with our bank this morning. Lots of organization of money needed when someone retires.
I’m going to make my protein drink and get back to emails. I realized I haven’t been getting enough protein in my diet so a protein drink daily adds a little more. It also takes care of the mid morning rumbling stomach I get.
I hope you can all have a happy and creative day.
July 30, 2024 at 7:03 am #1557596MORNING EVERYONE
We had rain & thunderstorms overnight. I’m expecting it to be muggy today.
Yesterday was laundry day for me. Sweeping the floors day. Nothing exciting.
I did receive my Blick’s order. I swatched out the Caran Dasche Luminance colored pencils. I got a set of 12. I don’t know much about them but I thought they would be softer or maybe creamier. Good vibrant color. Today I will try them on Bristol paper & see what I think. Also I have not yet tried blending colors.
I also got a pad of Hahanemuhle 140 lb Watercolor paper. I’ve never had any of this paper either. Trying out new things.
Haven’t seen any news yet this morning which is probably a good thing.
Doug—Hope you can catch a nap today.
JJ—At least you don’t have to replace the laptop. I’d miss mine for sure.
Steve—Hope you & Lisa are feeling better today. I was just seeing that some of the athletes are coming down with Covid in Paris. Hope they don’t start another world wide event.
Nancy—Happy Anniversary
Lynn—Love the frames
QS—Hope the hip feels better today.
Lulu—Enjoy your week. I have been finding jigsaw puzzles that we have not worked & putting them in one area & we are going to have a stash to do this winter.
Hello to all to come.

July 30, 2024 at 9:43 am #1557614On my way into town this morning I saw two large birds eating carrion in the road. I thought they were buzzards as they are the usual road cleaners in the area, but the closer I got and when they took flight I saw the white tail and head and admired two bald eagles. On returning from town I saw one of them again which took off and flew along side the car for a while and then climbed up and over the trees. What a treat. Ms. Feral will need to keep an eye to the sky. At home I watched a humming bird at the feeder.

July 30, 2024 at 10:39 am #1557617Lulu, I think I found your muffin recipe and baked a dozen. I love that there is no sugar added, just what is found in the fruit.
oatmeal apple banana muffins
2 cups (gf) rolled oats
1 cup mashed banana (3 medium-sized ripe bananas)
2 large eggs
4 tbsp olive oil
1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon juice
3/4 tsp pink salt
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 apple, grated
1/3 cup chopped nutsI added a 1/2 cup blueberries
Makes 12 muffins.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a muffin tin.Blend the oats in a high-speed blender to form a flour, about 20 to 30 seconds.
Mash the bananas in a bowl. Mix in the eggs, vanilla, and olive oil. Stir in the cinnamon and salt.
Stir in the oat flour and baking soda. Add the grated apples and nuts.
Pour the batter into the greased muffin pan, they will feel quite full. Top with additional nuts as desired.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
These muffins are delicious and a keeper, which I’ll make often. Thanks for the mention.

July 30, 2024 at 12:54 pm #1557629A good Tuesday to all……very warm this morning starting the day out in the Beach’s Room at 80° at 0530. High Heat Advisory for today with temps in the mid 90’s and 68% humidity….we’ll have a Hi of 105°. Tomorrow it’s an Excessive Heat Advisory, starting Thursday they’re calling Extreme Heat Advisories for the next 5 days with HI’s of 110 – 115°.
Need to mow the yard, but not gonna happen…..with the rainy weather we had last week it’s looking really ragged. By the end of this heat wave, I’ll have to raise the mower up to max height to make the first cut, then lower it down to the 3″ level I try to keep the lawn at in our hot summers. I could have cut it this morning as the dew was lite last night and by time it dried off it was still in the 80’s, but I’m still feeling whatever it was the hit us over the weekend. Lisa’s feeling better, she went to work this morning, but I’m still dealing with the ear ache and the sore throat and any exertion leaves me wiped. Sunday the scalp on the right side of my head felt all tingling and like it was detached from my skull…..I’m thinking oh crap it’s shingles again, but no rash or anything like it. It’s weird. We both tested negative for Covid, so I don’t think it’s anything like that. Both Lisa and I have had Shingles before with both of us getting the painful rash and while it’s rare, one can get a second bout. My PC tele nurse said it could be the Shingles virus (mild) without the telltale rash but that it would just have to run its course. She asked if we had been under any kind of “stress”. Welllllll………health insurance, Lisa’s job, Lisa’s daughter…..where do ya wanna start.
Thinking I’ll just put some of the Olympics on the TV in the studio and play a bit……
Doug…..sorry about the sleep issues again. I’m just wondering….. with spinal (bone) issues quite often there is ongoing irritation of the spinal cord and the nerves branching off. One would think with a crushed vertebra there would be a lot of nerve irritation. Lisa’s doctor referred to it as “poking the angry Octopus”. Nerve pain isn’t addressed with the regular pain meds…..you might want to ask your doctor about something like Gabapentin. Just a thought for you.
Bill……that muffin recipe sounds delicious. I’ll have to try it.
I better eat some lunch…..Greetings to all here and those coming.
Steve.
