Lulu, the kiwi’s I bought yesterday were a product of Chile.
Geoff, these must have been plucked as there were no feathers.
Did you know that The kiwi fruit is native to the Yangtze River valley of northern China and Zhejiang Province on the coast of eastern China. The first seeds were brought out of China by missionaries to New Zealand. I haven’t much use for intruding missionaries but this was a good discovery.

June 11, 2019 at 9:24 am #840327Nancy, I know your technology needs are greater than mine! My used iPhone costs me about USD$20 a year for calls, nothing for rental, and I don’t normally do emails on it,perhaps an odd SMS message. I bought a watch, analogue, from local market last month USD$10….Eileen got fed up with me asking the time as I don’t normally carry my phone with me and if I do I won’t be switched on! First time I have worn a watch since I retired 7 years ago…
Still raining.

June 11, 2019 at 11:03 am #840316Well that is my industrious morning gone all to hell. I had notification from my provider that I am at 99% of my internet usage allowance. I am usually only half way there by this time, watched no movies or anything else that needed more than normal GB, so I was phoning with the provider, long wait, long talk, one of my grandkids must be using my GB:eek:
Anyway, I changed the WIFI password and will spend very little time here maybe use the library computer until June 19. Onward and upward, cushions are waiting.
 UschiJune 11, 2019 at 11:47 am #840314Whoppie! I just made my first batch of fresh pesto from the basil plant I am growing in my herb garden. We’ll have it tomorrow night with pasta alongside our last eggplant parmesan we made with our garden eggplants last year. (It’s been in the freezer since then.)
Uschi, Ouch, that was a wake up call from your provider.
Talked to daughter Kari this morning. She’s been fighting a cold for a couple weeks now and it wouldn’t go away, so she went to her primary care doctor yesterday and the diagnosis is walking pneumonia! She certainly doesn’t need this, especially at this time. They have signed their lease starting on the 15th and will be moving as much as they can by car before loading the big stuff on a truck. Their new home isn’t very far from the one they are in now, but it is in the Kettering school district which makes a world of difference.
Char, I just sent a link to your tutorial for the class you led “When White Isn’t White…” to one of my fellow students from Nita’s class. She is a beginner and I heard her say she wanted to paint a white dog that was her friend’s. Even though the tutorial is on painting flowers, the lessons on finding colors in the white reference are applicable anywhere.
to all who were here between my visits.
SYL,
Sylvia

June 11, 2019 at 1:33 pm #840335Hi all…in san jose. Hot.
Uschi, remember when your computer got taken over? They have probably installed a bot and THAT is what is chewing up your bandwidth. You need to disconnect, power down, and take it in and have someone clean it (unless you want to do it). I had the same situation a couple years back. I figured it out because I logged into my ISP account and literally watched my bandwidth getting chewed up when I wasn’t streaming anything.

Mama mallard brought her 4 ducklings to our pond yesterday – we were hoping she would!
Take care everyone. Betty
June 11, 2019 at 2:42 pm #840307I was going to say that Uschi, you may have a bitcoin bot using your bandwidth. Did you ever install Malwarebytes? The free version will scan your PC and remove any obvious infections. Just use the default settings.
We’re home from the hospital, Ruth checked in at noon and wasn’t admitted to the theatre until 4 pm as she had high blood pressure. Anyway, the operation went well but she was kept under observation until 6 pm when she was discharged with all her medication.

June 11, 2019 at 4:31 pm #840312Bill, i never buy the Chile ones when ours are out of season. Not as big, not as juicy.
Never buy any fresh produce from out of the country actually, but we have a long growing season and good storeage thereafter.
They were originally called Chinese gooseberries when introduced to NZ way back when!Lulu
Proud to be Kiwi!
June 11, 2019 at 4:39 pm #840330That’s good Doug ☺
What a shame Uschi, good advice from Doug.
Lovely to have the duck family on your pond, Betty!
Hi Sharon, Tracy, Lulu!
Sylvia, now nice to be able to make yuor own pesto! Another gardener gave me some lettuce today, mine won’t be ready for a week at least. The ground is still soaking wet.

"Ring the bells that still can ring, Forget your perfect offering, There is a crack in everything, That's how the light gets in" Leonard CohenJune 11, 2019 at 5:16 pm #840317Hi Guys!!
Let me tell you, this growing older is for the birds. Washing the covers and putting them back, on, laundromat, up and down stairs etc. previously took me one day – too much:D It’s hard work because I put everything back on while wet so it will all stretch out nicely again. So I have one love seat done and the easy chair. I’ll do the second love seat tomorrow. Once done it will all look brand new again, that is the reward. Oh, I forgot, I also washed another wall and window and venetian blind:)
I had a chat with the lady who runs the laundromat, she is waiting for her first cataract operation, made an appointment with the surgeon last September, finally saw the surgeon in March and now in June is 96th on the list for the surgery. I don’t know what her surgeon does that mine doesn’t:confused:  Maybe her optomatrist recommended him to her, thank God mine recommended my Dr. Rodrigues.
Ruth   for Ruth, sorry there was a bit of a complication with her BP, she was probably so nervous.
Stacy and Doug, I wondered the same thing but it’s not chewing up masses of GB’s, remember I only have 20 per month, mostly I only use up about 13, this is eating something like 900 to 1300 megabits per day.
I mentioned before, I bought with money:) Malwarebytes probably about four years ago, and at the same time I also bought Avast antivirus, neither are showing any abnormalities. I’ll watch the usage from today til tomorrow and see what happens now that I changed the password. The only people who have it are Son and DIL, DIL’s parents, Jodi and the grand kids.
No signature so I can’t see who is posting this until I post mine, probably Bill, Beautiful picture, is this the wild phlox?? Ours is blooming all over the place too. Oh I just saw, the photo is Lynn’s:thumbsup:
Betty, oh how nice about the ducks.
Sylvia, poor Kari!! and  about the Pesto.
to ALL!!!

June 11, 2019 at 5:51 pm #840333Doug, I am so glad that Ruth’s surgery went well.
Uschi, In my head, I still think I am in my 40s when I could work as much as I needed to in the yard or doing fun things in the house. Not anymore. Just take your time with what you are doing. I am so glad we have unlimited service for our Internet at home and on our phones.
Lynn, Beautiful woodland trail scene.
We are having showers right now.
Last night I traced Oneida silverware and converted it to a file to import to my Cricut machine. After three tries, I have made a service for 48 of mini silverware out of acetate and colored with a silver leaf paint pen.
I had to use three tynes for the fork instead of four, but at a quick glance, no one will know. They are quite sturdy and affordable. The plastic sets are way out of my mini budget. Hope they bring a smile to your face!
Have a wonderful evening.

We must leave our mark on this worldJune 11, 2019 at 7:16 pm #840318Hi there everyone,
We’ve had so much rain here that when we do get a nice day we have so much to get done. More of the same in store for this weekend and of course Larry and I took off Friday and Monday. We were going to go somewhere just us but really didn’t have it in the budget at this time and then we decided we’d go north to visit with my Mom and with all this rain we still don’t have our veggie garden all planted so we decided to stay here and try to get some things done. Good thing I didn’t tell my Mom we were coming; she’d have been really disappointed.
It’s supposed to rain on Friday, Saturday and Sunday too.:o I sure hope the forecast is wrong. We’ve had so much rain and like Char said the farmers can’t get their crops in because the fields are flooded. Food prices will be up this summer and Fall.
We talked to Josh a bit ago and he’s doing well; still missing Hog but loving all the good memories they had with him. He was a special dog.
I have dinner going and as soon as Larry gets home we’ll eat. He had to work all weekend and yesterday and today had to work 12 hour shifts. He will be ready for a few days off.
Aww that is such sad news of Linda. She has been brave and fought this nasty disease so hard. I hope they can help her breathe better.
It sounds like you all have been super busy.
Doug, I hope Ruth will be able to see clearer now. Happy Belated Birthday to her!
Char, so glad that Ted is slowly getting his appetite back.
Ellen, wow that is pretty hot for up there! We’ve not had any HOT weather yet.
Nancy, you’re simply amazing in what you can create in the minis!
Sharon, you are lucky to have the pool. Your flowers are all gorgeous!
Bill, it sure is hard trying to get the lawns mowed with all this rain! I hear ya!
Justin will start his summer class at the end of this month.
Uschi, your place will be all clean and fresh for the summer. We still need to get in our perennial gardens, they are a mess.
Sylvia, I’m glad that Larry’s knee is feeling some better. Aww poor Kari, I hope she gets better fast with the sickness and the move and all.
Kay, I’m glad you weren’t aching after your busy couple of days.
Hello there LuLu!! Do the Boot scooting boogie!!:D
Waving to all of you and wishing you a great hump day tomorrow!
