April 1, 2018 at 2:41 am #595335Good morning all
What a beautiful view you have Lulu, though I can’t quite see “Ruth’s rock”.
A horrendous injury your granddaughter had, Char, and a dramatic scar. I hope she makes a complete recovery.
Sad about the table Steve, I’m surprised more of the Charity Shop finds don’t disappear before the public can get at them.
Last night’s meal was a great success, and afterwards we played three different card games for 5p pieces. Although no expert I came away with a sizeable profit – maybe £1
I have to finish off the washing up that wouldn’t fit in the dishwasher this morning and lunch will be “afters”.
The garden was bathed in golden light when I woke at 7am – a good night’s sleep.

We must leave our mark on this worldApril 1, 2018 at 3:21 am #595363Looks like a beautiful morning, loads of birds in the garden, Cat is out already.
Too wet to garden properly but it will be nice to be outside.
Bless all those who struggle in traffic to “enjoy” themselves, the stress levels must be enormous!April 1, 2018 at 4:25 am #595336Good morning Rod, the sun is breaking through a thin cloud layer here and it is 4C/40F.
It is an unusual Easter Day on April Fools Day. Just watched an amusing Youtube video by a philosopher-artist who lives in a beautifully adapted van in Ballard, north if Seattle. He was born on this day in 1956.
Rick skilfully converted his van to living accommodation and seems quite content with his life.

My Flickr SiteApril 1, 2018 at 6:47 am #595347everyone,
I had a terrible night’s sleep as well. It is still completely black out with the full moon shining. It’s-14 with a couple of inches of new snow over everything. It will be snowing on and off for the next few days. No signs of spring here right now.Today’s list includes the gym, house work, making cranberry sauce for tomorrow’s turkey supper, and maybe starting on one of the paintings. I finally heard back from my client and she will be here to pick up her painting on Friday. This week is already getting busy. The family are coming for supper tomorrow, I’m going for lunch with the girls on Wednesday, my sister will be visiting Thursday, a dentist checkup Friday, and meet Max’s bus all week. Brian has a couple of physio appointments, and I’ll start the taxes this week. There is always more things being added to the list daily. At least Brian is feeling well enough now that he can do easy chores like emptying the dishwasher, putting the wash on, and driving to run errands.
The good news is that my computer seems to be working fine now that I’ve installed the new mouse and keyboard.
Tomorrow morning Brian and I are going to Walmart to buy little Easter gifts for the boys. They will all be on sale and I’m sure Brian will be picking up chocolate on sale as well. He puts a couple of chocolate Easter bunnies in the freezer and takes off chunks when he is feeling like a treat.
Char – poor Katie. How long until they take out the pins?
What a beautiful view Lulu.
I’m going to play on my iPad while I have breakfast and then start my day. Enjoy your day everyone.

April 1, 2018 at 6:58 am #595350Good day all,
A frigid morning with a few snow flakes. The wind has subsided and we will have sun today.
Doug, if I were alone, I’d be living and traveling in a motor home. Bury me on the lone prairie.

April 1, 2018 at 6:59 am #59533711C/52F already here, no sign of the snowstorm we are expecting. The garden is wakening after being held back by the cold snap.

What an amazing fun filled day…
Hi JJ, it’s always good to get on well with one’s exes.
Sure is – especially when one is in a car with ex for 7.5 hours
So let me tell you hat happened.
Tania decided we were all going for a drive today, her, Elise, Alan and Bill and of course me.
I was navigator. You can see where this is going already So Tania asked me where we should go, and I said Maleny as it’s beautiful up there and Bill would get to see some nice countryside. We will take tge scenix route not the highway.Famous last words.
So we got to Woodford, and had lunch at 11.30am, thought it would be a breeze to get to Maleny for afternoon tea around 2ish.
We drove on to Kilcoy, then to Jimna.Where is Maleny? We stopped and asked a guy who had also stopped at the Jimna Public Hall studying a map.
Should have not asked, man with beer in hand who loudly declares to his wife she is now driving his 4WD because he’s drinking beer told us to take Sunday Creek Road and that will take us over the hill to Maleny. We did ask, he did tell us, and we did take Sunday Creek road.Sandy Creek Road takes one into the Conondale National Park. O.K. this is nice, Bellbirds singing gorgeous scenery, trees fern green fresh and beautiful
That was until the sealed road ran out and we were on gravel. Tania did really well she drove like a trooper, over ruts, potholes, the odd cattle grate, wet areas of slippery road. It was about here she said I am not liking this.
We had noticed a whole lot of 4wd coming towards us, and we did note all the mud and slush on there vehicles. We did wonder where they were 4WDriving..
This photos is where we found out. From here on the road was sold slush 4WD territory only. These guys stopped us and told us there was no way we’d get through there in Tanias little 4 cylinder Hyundi, and why on earth were we driving there anyway. We told them about the beer swilling 4WD’er who told us to go this way to Maleny. They were shocked.
My family were holding up well all in good spirits and laughing. So we turned around and went back. We were 3/4 of he way through the Conondale National Park too.
So we turned around and came back. About 5 minutes into the drive Tania beseeches me to get the leach off her hand, She shuddered. A few minutes later her horrified voice, Mum there is another one. I asked where and she said on her right ankle, shuddering again. I am not going to reach over and get it while she is driving and told her to pull over. No she says I can’t feel it now it must have dropped off. I said nothing. A few seconds later this very strained little voice says “it’ back and it’s stinging” I assured her that it was ok, just the anticoagulant going into her system so he cold get a good snack. Another shudder.. We are still on the very rough part of this road so she says she is fine she will keep driving. What a trooper. It was about a 15 minute drive back out to the sealed road. I did ask a couple of times how she was doing and she said fine, no worries.
She pulled over onto the side of the sealed road. opened her car door and screeched at her father “Get out of the car now!! Get this thing off me now!!
Now this is getting interesting, father is a kiwi and I doubt has seen a leech. Well, I should have taken a video of him trying to get it off her ankle :lol: It was a circus, and he was semi screeching that it had 2 heads and was sicking on with both of them and he couldn’t get it off and omg the blood everywhere.Alan is sitting in the back sea of the car almost doubled over in laughter. Elise is stunned speechless.
So I said seriously Bill do I need to come and take it off? He squared his shoulders and like a man wrenched the leech off her ankle and threw it away.:lol: I have tears rolling down my face. Tania is not terribly amused.
We drive off again.
We drove back the way we had come all the way back to Woodford to CJs Bakery, which I must say makes a fabulous coffee and the food is awesome, and we had another snack. Oh and plastered Tanias ankle
Everyone settled, me, still inwardly laughing, and we drove off towards home.
They say I am not allowed to b navigator again.. Sheesh… Well until next time eh..
Gail hugs to Pearl
Char, I hope your girl heals well poor love..

April 1, 2018 at 8:53 am #595343Good Morning!!!
Bright sunshine and a high of 2C.
We’ll be making our way to Toronto this afternoon to participate in the big extended family dinner. My contribution will be the red cabbage which is normally brought by my DIL’s mother but since they are still in Florida I took over that part of the dinner.
I found out that knitting definitely is quite the contributor to the tendon and shoulder problem. Arm and shoulder was fine, no table tennis and suddenly it started again and it starts not in the shoulder but at the insertion right above the elbow and works its way up to the insertion in the shoulder. I’ll have to go back to my eight rows only rule:)
Doug, I really do love that red fence. I would copy it but you can imagine what that would do to my shoulder. You are quite the card shark:)
:D:D JJ, we know all about your navigational skills:D Sounds like a fun trip nevertheless, except for poor Tania:eek:
Lulu, beautiful picture from paradise. looks different from you previous ones. Are you sure you are not doing an April Fool’s thing on us and it’s the Italien paradise instead??
Geoff, for good weather.
Doug and Rod, glad you have some nice weather for a change.
I need breakfast!! to all here and wish you ALL a wonderful day!!!

April 1, 2018 at 9:13 am #595361Happy Easter to all…..cloudy here, 59°, rain called for later this morning. Not the perfect Easter day and all, but the it could be worse….we could have snow on the ground like some of you…..I’ll take the 59° and clouds over that any day.
I’m in one of those blah moods today…I’m not in to Easter, other than the religious meaning, like every other religious observance day, we’ve turned it into an adventure in commercialism with fabricated thoughts of some soothing justifications about Easter bunnies, eggs, chocolate treats and such. Bah humbug…….I guess it’s my “heathen” side rising up. I’ve had my morning coffee chat with God and He’s down with my “thank you”, we’re good.
JJ…..I have to laugh at your adventure….some of the best “road trips” are those unplanned and without direction…..I’m one of those “I wonder where this road goes” types. Every time I visited my parents out in Colorado, we always took adventurous road trips in the Rockies and more often than not, they ended up on one lane, rock strewn dirt mountain roads that were only open during the summer months….but the rewards were always worth it. I can honestly say though that never were leaches involved. Elk, bears, mountain lions, deer…..yes, but no leaches.
Doug….interesting video, but I’m thinking I would have to have just a tad bit more space than that……however, considering the living cost in the Ballard area (that’s pricey real estate area), I can fully understand his solution. I have an old high school buddy who moved up to Seattle just after college, back in the late 70’s he bought a “fixer upper” (just over 1000 SF), a craftsman bungalow that he worked on for about 15 years restoring and modernizing it. He’s about 2 blocks away from the Ballard canal (cut between Lake Washington and the Sound) and today he could sell his house for dang near close to a million. Today, “fixer uppers” in that area (if you can find them) will start in the $250k to $500k range……it ain’t a cheap place to live.
Geoff….hope you have your mudders with you. Enjoy the day.
Time to get moving…..have to run to grocery store to get a few remaining items for tonight’s dinner…..Lisa’s getting ready to go visit her mom this morning. Be good, do good……..especially today. BBL
