Good morning friends, a damp start to the day.
Last night’s concert was excellent with tenor Morgan Lee James followed by comedian Jimmy Cricket who cracked non-stop jokes for over a hour with not a rude word. There were so many but one I remember concerned a man flying on holiday to Spain. At the check in he asked the attendant to send one suitcase to Malaga, one to the Azores and one to Heathrow airport. The attendant retorted “we can’t do that sir!” and the man said well, you did that last time I flew to Spain.
Seriously, at 78 he is totally on form, finishing with juggling tricks and playing the saxophone.

We must leave our mark on this worldAugust 5, 2023 at 11:25 pm #1521859Good day Doug, Glad you had a good evening last night. I’ve lost my luggage twice while flying but it was retrieved.
Going to bed now. Janet is scolding me for staying up late.

August 6, 2023 at 12:51 am #1521860Good evening Doug and Bill and all following.
Our first trip overseas together, we checked in the luggage. The Handler said to Roger … just the one bag sir? .. Rog replied … yeah and the suitcase. I was speechless …. because I was laughing so so hard, as was the handler.
Anyway, as promised the latest creation … if you load it with marbles and turn it on it goes on and on and on ….

Funny, Doug.
Hi Bill.
Only once did my luggage get delayed and that was flying in NZ!
Have had a busy but wonderfully peopled weekend. Too tired to talk much now, we are blobbing in front of TV for the evening.

August 6, 2023 at 1:33 am #1521862Good morning Annie, wow, that is complicated! I would not where to start.
Good morning Lulu, we have had our luggage sent to the wrong airport but fortunately delivered the next day.
I expected to sleep in this morning but woke at 5am as usual.

We must leave our mark on this worldAugust 6, 2023 at 3:42 am #1521864Good Morning all,
It is 5:35 a.m. here in dark and quiet Oakwood. We are expecting rain and storms today…maybe according to the weather prognosticators yesterday. Hopefully we can get our grocery shopping done before that happens.
Planning to use our zucchini and the one Kari gave us from her garden to make Zucchini Parmesan today for dinner. It is the same recipe as Eggplant Parmesan, but we like it made with zucchini slices instead.
Glad you had such a lovely time and the comedian was funny instead of obscene, Doug. We were fortunate with our luggage during our flying times, never got lost or missent somewhere else.
Hope you had a good sleep, Bill. Remember what Ben Franklin said about “Early to bed, etc.”
That’s quiet an intricate creation, congratulations, Roger!
Hi Lulu and all who are on their way.
Hi Char!

August 6, 2023 at 5:57 am #1521869Roger, well done! And you look great too!
Well, got a good, deep 5 1/2 hours sleep.
Sylvia, we are expecting your rain to work itself up to us later this morning. I like zucchini parmesan too.

August 6, 2023 at 6:00 am #1521870Good Morning!!
A sunny but cooler day, a high of 24C. Supposed to rain later in the evening and that would be great because it is time to water the garden.
Superbaker wanted to play scrabble so that is what we will do Might need to do bits of shopping afterwards.
Doug, so good that you had such a good time.
I have never lost any luggage while travelling.
Hi Bill!!
Annie, WOW, that is one very complicated and intricate build!!!!! Thanks for showing us and introducing us to Roger!!! Hi Roger!!! Are there more and different ones out there to buy and build and is Roger excited to get started on another one???
Lulu, you have been very quiet over the last week. Glad that you had enjoyable company and a great weekend!!!
Sylvia, O.K. what’s the difference between a male and female zucchini ??
Hi Char!!!

Uschi, The zucchini are all the same, but their flowers are different. The female flower has a rounder, fatter bottom and the male is thin and straight. That’s all I see on my four plants except for the one fruit I harvested so far.
Cheers all,
Sylvia
August 6, 2023 at 6:53 am #1521873Sylvia, do you just dip the zucchini flower in a flour and water mixture and fry? I have some and would like to try that.

August 6, 2023 at 7:07 am #1521876Bill, Yes, I make a thin batter of flour and water, dip the flower (picked in the morning) in it and fry until crisp on both sides. Drain on a paper towel, sprinkle with salt and enjoy.
August 6, 2023 at 7:31 am #1521877A good Sunday to all…….cooler this morning, but we’ll still hit the low 90’s this afternoon. No heat advisory today.
Will run the errands today that we didn’t get done yesterday……after mowing the grass, I was wiped out. Sat for an hour in the spa tank, then just rested the rest of the day.
Bad finish for the USWNT in the FIFA……..lost this morning to the Sweds in penalty kicks. No threepeat for them.
Annie….that’s rather amazing. Congratulations Roger.
Only time the airlines lost my luggage was a business trip to Italy…….that was back in 1982, still haven’t gotten it yet. Airlines paid for a new wardrobe which was an adventure in of itself. That was back when I had to have my suits custom tailored……not many off the rack business suits in a size 52!. The only thing the shop had that fit me was some loose linen casual jackets and matching pants in cream and white and scalaped neck t-shirts in bright colors…….think, very early “Miami Vice” look, before it was a popular trend. There I was looking all “Crockett” like amongst all the other business suits and military uniforms of Comiso personnel………they had the misconception that I was some high priced “designer architect” brought in for the projects. The project manager told me to just run with it and play the part. The only good part about the whole thing was I was probably the only one out of the whole group who was actually comfortably dressed in the heat over there….the absurd part was that the projects we did design and completed all the working drawings were actually constructed just in time for the entire base to be shut down as a result of the US / Soviet treatises drawing down INF facilities in 87. Hundreds of millions, spent by the US and literally turned over to the Italians……….would be interesting to see what it has become today…..it was out in the middle of nowhere, water wells ran dry in the hot summers and was hard as heck to even get there. Somewhere in the depths of the International airport in Rome I suspect my suitcase is behind some conveyor belt machinery waiting to be discovered by someone in the distant future who will marvel at the absurd fashion trends of the 1980’s.
Time to get the morning moving forward………greetings to all here and those coming with hopes that all have a fantastic day, evening or night.
Be good, do good.
Steve.

August 6, 2023 at 7:35 am #1521878HELLO EVERYONE
I have not been on the computer since Thursday. We’ve been busy. Friday I got a haircut & color & ran a few errands. Saturday we went to a neighboring town to see an Art Exhibit that is held in a Church every year for the past several years but I had never been. It was really a good show & very hard to pick 3 pieces to vote for. I did notice that there were not that many Watercolors. On the way we stopped by a place called The Covered Wagon. It has a garden center, a grocery farmers market store with everything in it. It had a Bakery, Deli, Frozen Cold Cases, Cheeses, Homemade Pies (OMG), Spices, Cookbooks, Fresh Produce & a Cafe. It is only about 20 minutes from us & we will make it a routine stop. I’ll be buying lots of soup mixes for the upcoming Winter & things for Christmas Gifts.
Today we have possibility of rain & thunderstorms. Our grass needs it.
On Tuesday Ohio has to Vote on a special election called issue 1. The Republicans want to change the Ohio Constitution. They want to do away with 50%+1 vote to a 60%+1 vote. We shall see how this goes.
On the Art front I just ordered some Gouche (sp) I have never had that. I need to go out & buy myself a pack of Crayola Supertips Markers to use in the sketchbook. You can move the Supertips with water & they are not bleeding thru the Talons Creations Sketchbbok.
The dreaded grocery list calls & I have no ideas what to make this week for meals.
Doug—Sounds like a nice evening out.
Annie—Roger that is absolutely AMAZINH!!!! I could never build that. It didn’t seem to take you that long either. You look Great too!!!!
Joy—You have certainlly been busy this Summer.
I send good thoughts to everyone. Hope you enjoy your day.
Anita
August 6, 2023 at 8:07 am #1521884everyone,
I almost forgot to post this morning. Slightly cloudy today and will be going up to 27. I have the art club’s open studio at noon and then home a little early from that for our zoom meeting at 4;00. I need to make lunch early before heading out. I’m dressed in my gardening clothes going to tie up some grape vines that are going crazy and doing some deadheading. Brian has left for Sudbury but will be back this evening.

The garden awaits. I might do some weeding while out there as well depending on the time. I might see some of you later on zoom.

August 6, 2023 at 8:42 am #1521887Well, it turned out a nice sunny day and there is a decent forecast for tomorrow so hopefully I’ll be able to bowl.
Anita for Gouache check out Lena Rivo’s blog she paints mostly in gouache.
Jimmy Cricket phoned the local newspaper and said he wanted to sell something, how much did an advertisment cost? She said £5 an inch. Oh, he said I’ll leave it I’m selling a 20-foot ladder
