Hey Geoff.. :) I hope the bath works..

Annie, voting is miserable if one choice isn’t any better than the other, hope you had a decent choice.

        Exactly!

Wow Steve, good for that student. She is very brave, and probably alive because she stands up for herself.
        Big hugs for Lisa.

Char :) Sausage sizzle is barbecued sausages served on a slice of bread with onions, ketchup, mustard, and what ever other sauces takes ones fancy.

Never a dull moment at your place Betty!

Lulu, those are some lovely quilts!

It has turned chilly here, the breeze is coming from the south. Better go put a cardigan on.

It is quite something, but a storm a couple of years ago washed out the road.
This happens fairly frequently and this latest repair may be the last.
It is a beautiful bit of coastline and has some parts that frequently feature in the Poirot series.

                Good Morning all,
It is almost 5:30 a.m. here in sleepy Oakwood.

Griddle cakes for breakfast. These are pancakes with some cornmeal in the batter. Adds a bit of flavor that has become Larry’s favorite. :D

Then off to the grocery store to pick up fresh veggies and fruit and a few other items. One veggie is a sweet potato to add to the mixture for shrimp tempura this evening for dinner. :D

Lovely view Shadye1. Have a nice vacation.

Ditto to what JJ said. :D Amazing art, Wow!

 to Geoff, Doug, and all who are on their way.

                everyone,
It’s overcast and supposed to rain later. The computer says it’s 1 but my house thermometer says 9. It felt closer to the 9 when I filled the bird feeders in my nightly and bare feet.

Yesterday a chipmunk found the bird seed on the tray of food I leave on the ground by the front pond. He was sitting it it eating but sharing nicely with the birds who didn’t seem to mind him and kept eating.

Yesterday Brian went directly from the gym to standby at the fire hall and was gone for 6 hours. I got the pond done myself. It is cleaned out, filled with fresh water, the plants trimmed, the waterfall/filter going, and underwater lights added. I love hearing the sound of the waterfall when the windows are open. Today the only yard work left is to cut off some dried vegetation in the shade garden that is finally free of snow.

I am determined to get back to the gym this morning now that the main spring chores are done. The bathrooms need cleaning, the vacuuming needs doing, and I’m sure I’ll find other things to keep me busy. I have to get some potting soil to plant some strawberries in hanging baskets. The neighbour dug them up and gave them to me yesterday. She said the bugs got to them before they could. At least I got the laundry done yesterday and line dried when it was nice.

Shadye1 – What a beautiful setting but I don’t think I’d like to be living in those houses in a storm.

JJ – I’ll check out the graffiti video next.

I’m off to get breakfast and start my day. Have the best day possible everyone.

                    Good Morning!!

Weird weather, with humidity it will feel like 33C. Tomorrow back to around 15C. Bright sunshine:thumbsup:

The hydro just went out for a split second but enough to shut the computer off so here I am again.

Big panic yesterday, checked the oil in the mower, added the gas pressed the button to start it and apart from the “trying” noise – nothing. I was pretty sure it was the spark plug but had absolutely no idea what to do about it, and the grass had to be cut because with my daughter arriving and my cataract surgery next Friday it was now or never. I needed a man:D

So for the first time in 21 years of living here I asked my neighbour for help, he had it fixed in no time and yes, it was the spark plug.

Betty, yes that girl was lucky she didn’t get seriously hurt.

I actually took riding lessons at the north end of Toronto which is now totally built up. But the fun story I will forever remember was when a bunch of us went riding before really knowing what to do.

This was soon after we arrived from England and one of the friends was a Native Indian lady. Having seen some cowboy movies with Indians galloping across the land and believing that they were basically born on horses we had high expectations of Loraine but we were barely out of the driveway and her horse decided to munch on greenery growing in the ditch. Through the whole hour she and her horse stood in that ditch, she couldn’t move it. That much for the Native Indian galloping across the land and the false ideas that movies put in our head.

Sharon, what a lucky find. You reminded me that I should put some lounging chairs out one the boulevard.

Oh Ellen, you are so industrious and so energetic:thumbsup:

Char, a few more things checked off for you too. Your garden will miss the lovely chicken compost. Looking forward to seeing the little washroom.

Rod, what a lovely place to visit, ENJOY!!!!

                    JJ, such clever art!!!

Geoff, sorry your legs are bothering you again.

                    Hi Sylvia and Doug!!

                    #829731

 Uschi, your story reminded me of a time when I went horseback riding with some friends. We were in grade school at the time, so pretty young. It was the first time I was riding a horse that I was supposed to control. The horse knew I didn’t know what I was doing and refused to turn right. So every time the person leading the group (one of the workers at the stable where we rented the horses) turned right, he refused to turn. He would go left though, so every time we were supposed to go right, I made a complete left turn circle until I was heading in the right direction. I don’t remember going horseback riding again after that. ;)

Ellen, You have so much energy! You remind me of Larry in a way. Good for you.

                    to all again,

                    SYL,

A good Sunday to all…….wet and stormy last night and more storms headed our way today. Will be a good day to putter around the studio and just chill.

Sharon….yes, we have a security system (Simply Safe). It has 3 “glass breaking sensors” (each, bedroom and main room), a motion detector in the main room, one interior camera (main room) and 2 exterior camera’s (front and back) and a door bell camera. It’s all wireless and apps on my phone that I can check the perimeter outside or front door without getting out of bed or if we’re away. It alerts me if anything goes off and we also have it monitored by a security service. I think all total it was a little over $600 for the entire setup and I installed it myself. Well worth the money in my opinion. I don’t worry as much if Lisa has to come home and I’m not there, as she can check the cameras from her phone before ever getting out of the car. Neighbors on the block have had some minor problems, but in the 15 years we’ve lived here, we haven’t had any problems really. Our landscape is designed to minimize “hiding places” or protective covering for a possible break in and we have 8 LED security lights that cover the front, back and sides…..

Betty….glad the young lady wasn’t hurt, but I would’ve asked that owner if the drivers understood that the horses “had the right of way”….heck, most of the drivers in Memphis don’t even understand the simplest of road rules for driving, let alone that Tennessee is still classified as an Agricultural state and that live stock animals have the “right of way”…..

Breakfast time……..Greetings to all here and those to come. Hope it’s a good Sunday for ya’ll…..

                    Be good, do good….
                    Steve.

Pain and heartaches aren't options in life........misery is a choice.

                        Good day all,

Sunny for now, but storms abound.

Steve, Simple Safe is one I’m considering too. My problem is I don’t own a smart phone.

                        JJ, the artist is amazing!

Still building raised beds. I’m keeping them small.

Good Morning! We have sunshine and heat! WowieZowie! The storm system veered north of us so we’re enjoying actual warm spring weather.

We’ll be working out in the gardens today. That’s it, that’s all.

Geoff, I’m sorry that your legs are jumping. I hope that bath helped. Do you add epsom salts to the water?

JJ, I did see that art on FB and it’s simply genius.

                        Hiya, Doug!

That is really a beautiful view, Rod. I did wonder how much flooding occurred there… with the rise in ocean levels, it may not be so picturesque forever. :( Enjoy your vacation!

Hiya Sylvia. Do you have a deep fryer? Your horse riding anecdote gave me a chuckle.

Ellen, your busy schedule always leaves me breathless. Remember to take a break and enjoy your day. There will always be dust and dirty bathrooms. :)

Uschi, I have recently learned that asking for help sometimes is a good thing. Your horsey story was also pretty funny. I will say that I have been on the back of a galloping horse and it’s exhilarating.

Steve, for good security and safety measures.

Bill, we don’t have smart phones, either.

Speaking of storms, the tornadoes that have struck the midwest of the U.S. have been shocking in their intensity. It’s heartbreaking to witness the loss of people’s homes…

I have laundry going and need to get another load into the washer. Then, I have to get showered and dressed (yes I’m running late). The gardens are calling me. Have a great day, Everyone! :grouphug:

Good morning. Sun is shining, but more rain tomorrow and Tuesday. We had a nasty bunch of storms go through yesterday. There was a brownout which knocked out our WiFi, security system, tv, and my dryer. Strangely the washer did not miss a beat. I waited until the storm passed by before I finished the two loads that I had left. We got over 3 inches of rain.

Steve, I am glad that the storm weakened before it got to you. We have iSmart alarm that we self-monitor. When something happens, we get an e-mail notification immediately. Best money we have ever spent!

Bill, The smart phones are worth the money. Everything on the alarm is controlled by my phone. And our Nest Thermostat and Fire/CO2 alarm is controlled via the phone. When we go on vacation, we use our phone for photos. No need to carry a camera and a phone anymore. The phone takes better photos than my 35mm camera that had film.

Uschi, I loved your horse story. I have to admit, I never even got on the back of a horse. They were too big for me. I went to a farm with my best friend to visit her country cousins, and the smells overtook me. I could not wait until I got home.

So glad that you up north are finally getting warmer weather with sunshine. We are almost finished with Spring and already heading into Summer.

                        to everyone I missed.
