everyone,
Another full day today. We never got to the art club yesterday because the parking lot hadn’t been plowed and there was a 2 ft ridge of ice and snow blocking it. We contacted the city and it’s now cleared so we will go this afternoon. First though is the gym, wash the bedding, clean the bathrooms, water the plants, and other weekend chores. There is also a homemade crafts market this weekend I would like to go to.
((((Char)))) – so sorry you are having all these hardships. I hope the procedure will make your days easier. Sending you lots of hugs. I don’t really have lots of energy. I have a list of things that need doing and force myself to do it. I would much rather sit in my chair with my iPad all day the way I mostly was for the last 2 years. I’m hoping that making myself move more will charge up my battery again. The more I do the more I want to do but I still crash in my chair between each chore. I make plans with friends to keep me from finding excuses not to do things.
I just read yesterday’s and today’s washes and too much going on to reply to everyone and still get out the door shortly. I have wished you all health for illnesses, hugs for bad news, I’m happy for the good news, and just smiling as I read about and share all your news.

Have the best day possible. Oh, oh. Doug, could you flip my photo please?

I forgot to tell you that I watched a Canadian TV show called “Marketplace” yesterday where they compared prices for identical items from Walmart, Dollar Tree and Dollarama stores and Dollarama was the cheapest.

April 2, 2022 at 9:57 am #1465082A good Saturday to all……..scattered blue patches of sky here, rain called for this afternoon. But the temps are mild. Typical Spring weather for Memphis……
Today’s list is finishing the columns prepping for the island, sealing the wood accent walls (planed cedar fence boards)……….and sanding. Not in that order.
Char…..
<script type=”text/javascript” async src=”https://tenor.com/embed.js”></script>
Sharon….hope they can give you some answers. One thing I’ve learned in the 22 years battling this Acro Beast is this…….take it 1 day at a time, be flexible, cross the bridge that is in front of you…..one thing that every journey has in common, they are accomplished 1 step at a time.
Doug……so sad to hear of Ruth’s friend’s passing.
Running late this morning…..slept to almost 9:00. Time to get moving. Greetings to all here and those to come. Make it a great day, evening or night.
Be good, do good……
Steve.

?????Another lucky guess. I would never have gotten it without using my scrabble letters.
Slept in my recliner until 4:30 a.m. We had a large dinner at Outback, and I did not want to take a chance of having a GERD episode. Then crawled into bed and slept until 9:30 a.m. So, I had 9 1/2 hours of sleep last night. Feel much better today.
Doug, I am so sorry that Ruth’s friend has passed away under such unexpected medical problems.
Ellen, That snow brings back memories of having snow on the ground until the end of May in 1967 in Chicago. I hope spring is on the horizon sooner than later. I can relate to your inactivity over the last two years, because that is what happened to me. I have to do the same thing between activities. I need to motivate myself and get ready for the walking in Las Vegas.
Uschi, The way grocery prices are rising, I might end up shopping at the Dollar Tree!
Steve, You are so right about one step at a time. That always gets me through life’s curve balls.
What everyone else said! Have a wonderful day.

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."- EinsteinApril 2, 2022 at 10:43 am #1465088Sunny out and above 0C, so a good day! Slept late today, a good night too. Just discovered one GS has Covid, they are all vaxed and boosted, so I hope he doesn’t have a bad case. DD still coming with my groceries tomorrow, the official policy is that she doesn’t have to quarantine unless she has symptoms. I’m not so sure, but we just stay outside when they come anyway. This isn’t going away any time soon
I am working on this image at the moment, I think I have it printed as I like. Had to get rid of the dotted line across the centre, it is actually some grass, but it was just touching the surface of the water, and is too distracting. I don’t usually manipulate my photos much, but do try to get rid of minor distractions.
A very sad death, Doug Hugs to Ruth.
I certainly didn’t get the impression that you were doing ‘nothing’ Ellen, over the last two years LOL It’s all relative I guess, and yes, we have to push ourselves to keep healthy with movement. My grocery trips downtown give me some activity, but I should do more, dancing doesn’t come often enough.
Beautiful birds, JJ!
Trip to New Zealand, wouldn’t it be lovely!! A trip to anywhere for that matter We have to trip in our minds. I’m sorry I missed the Tony Robinson railroad trips that were on a documentary site earlier this year. I expect they will turn up somewhere else. edit: just saw that they are coming up this month, not last, on the Knowledge Network in Canada so I can still see them I also recall now that I watched the beginning of one and found it a bit frenetic, in a Tony sort of way, but still interesting, the train ride itself.
Greetings to everyone I missed, and all to come!
Cheers, Lynn

"Ring the bells that still can ring, Forget your perfect offering, There is a crack in everything, That's how the light gets in" Leonard CohenApril 2, 2022 at 10:55 am #1465089Hello all;
It’s yet another dreary day today. Larry and I were up until 1am watching two movies. I can’t remember their names but they were good. Slept in and felt pretty good when we woke up. He has been having lower back pain and his other knee is painful. It won’t be long now and he will be done with that work.
Kaitlyn is still living here. She is no trouble. Her kitty, Felix has become attached to both Larry and I. He is our night cuddle bug. We will miss him when she moves out.
Ellen, I feel like you a lot of the time. Just want to sit in my art room and craft or paint; read or be online playing games. I have to make myself get motivated too but I’m hoping that it was just not feeling well for so long and that I’ll get some energy again. I do realize that I’m 65 years old now and it’s normal to slow down. That is a HUGE snow drift!
Doug, what an opportunity that would be to go!!
Nancy, I know those breathing treatments can sure make your heart beat fast.
LuLu, your grape vines must have been loaded this year. Nice of you to share.
Today, not much on the schedule. Larry is planting more tomato seeds and I’m going to get my shower then craft a bit or draw out a painting to paint. Slow day for us. He is just happy to have a weekend off. We had a wonderful dinner last night, tossed green salad, baked pork chops, mashed potato, brussel sprouts and green beans. It was the first nice meal we’ve had in a week or more and it tasted great.
I hope you all have a great day and find something fun to occupy your mind. Take care and sending hugs to all,
Darla
Mid-Michigan, USAApril 2, 2022 at 11:22 am #1465091Sun is shining brightly, not too windy so I am going to embrace Steve’s “One Day at the Time” philosophy or should I say “One Task at the Time” and go out and rake the leaves off the front flowerbed. It’s going to be tricky because the daffodils are all up about 1 1/2 ” and they are hard to see and because I planted lots of them last fall there is barely a place where I can stand without stepping on them.
I did the laundry, kitchen and my exercises, also had lunch and letting it digest before I go out.
Nancy, wise decision about sleeping in the recliner and here in Canada the Dollar Tree was no cheaper than Walmart, often more expensive. Dollarama is the place to go to.
I definitely need an energizer and motivation button. There was a time when I couldn’t wait to spend my energy filled and was filled with enthusiasm especially about garden work. Now sitting and reading is so much easier but also more boring.
Lynn, lovely photo and very interesting too!!! Yes, stay well away from your daughter.
Yes Ellen, you have been an energizer bunny throughout the last two years, maybe it was harder for you but sure didn’t appear that way to us.
Hi Darla, so good to hear that you are feeling so well. Larry has the patience and determination of a saint, I would have retired at the first opportunity and yes, he must be sooooo glad not to have to work in the heat during the summer. They will certainly miss him!! Does your son still work there???

April 2, 2022 at 2:07 pm #1465107Love the high rise bird cafe, JJ, I’m not surprised that it gets lots of customers.
Regretably, Bill, time marches on and the new generation look on our old and charming as tired and decrepit.
Golly, Mike, you’re the only person I know besides me that adds grapes to porridge.
Ho awful, Doug, her family must be devastated. Just another reminder to live every day as if it’s your last. Look after Ruth, I’m guessing it will have hit her hard. Before we moved to Cornwall I belonged to a 14 strong swimming group and now I’m the only one left. I lost the last of them a couple of months back.
I’m glad you found time to play, Anita. The more you do the more the skills will come back to you. It’s like riding a bike, you never forget. Are you enjoying the Sketchbook Revival.
Enjoy your shopping trip, Uschi. Is Len’s Mill a shopping centre?

My websiteApril 2, 2022 at 2:37 pm #1465108Wow! That’s a lot of snow, Ellen. I’d be hibernating. You certainly accomplish a great deal but I totally understand about crashing in a chair between chores. It’s getting up and moving on to the next task that’s the hard bit.
Glad to hear you so upbeat today, Steve. Hope you’re fully recovered now.
I’m glad you managed to get a good night’s sleep, Nancy, even if it did mean spending a good part of it in the recliner.
Love the lily pond photo, Lynn. Sorry your GS has Covid.
Sometimes a slow day is just what the doctor ordered, Darla. I can’t fault a day that includes painting and cuddles with the cat.
Yes, one task at a time, Uschi. I trust your flowerbed is now leaf free.
Sharon, I hope you are OK. Good luck with the scans.
((((Char)))) I hope you are having a better day. Hugs.
Well, our sunshine moved off to pastures new before lunch allowing the rain to move in so that put paid to any more gardening. I cleaned the kitchen and dining room and steam cleaned the floor. The laundry had to go on the airer to dry. That left me free to exchange the gardening for art this afternoon so I headed back to Sketchbook Revival. Like Doug, I’d been a bit disappointed with some of it. I also, naively thought that sketchbooks would be about drawing but I was entranced with today’s video. I’d come across zentangles before but never tried my hand at them. They are addictive. Here’s the two pages I came up with.

????? ?????????How about them apples? I thought of the word, and then thought, nah, can’t be that. But I couldn’t think of another word, sooooo. Whaddayaknow!
I was waiting around for my package of vitamins to arrive. I went downstairs to take out the recycling and opened the door to my upstairs neighbor. We were chatting, but it was freezing. The mailman came by, but he didn’t have my box. Finally we went upstairs. Then I realized that my friend in Los Angeles will be 97 in five days, and if I didn’t get her card in the mail she wouldn’t get it in time. Soooooo, I figured if I walked to the post office my package would arrive while I was out. Stopped at the beauty supply on the way home. And sure enough when I got back there was my package waiting on the doorstep.
Doug what an awful thing to happen to Ruth’s friend. (((()))) Your garden is looking wonderful.
Joy your zentangles are “joy”ous. ?
Oh my, Ellen, that’s an awful lot of snow.
((((Darla)))) so sorry about your appendicitis. Glad it all went well. For Larry’s retirement.
JJ hope you are feeling better.
((((Char))))
Steve I laughed out loud when I read Lisa’s comment re: shaved legs. Yup.
Uschi hope you don’t step on any of your daffs. Sorry your son finally got covid.
Anita don’t you have an extension handle for your roller so you don’t need to climb the ladder? You can usually screw in a plain broom handle or buy one of the fancier telescoping ones.
Lynn I’m sorry your grandson has covid. I like that image. I don’t mind the line, but I know if it were my photo I’d probably be aware of it too.
Well I’ve forgotten the rest. Soooooo ———
Later,
Kay

April 2, 2022 at 5:24 pm #1465115Good evening everyone! We went to Michaels, and there was a 40% off sale on everything Cricut. I stocked up on several items that I needed.
I also bought three new t-shirts to make for my Vegas trip. John bought 4 for next year’s Christmas presents. We will be making a special family joke t-shirt for everyone.
Put everything in the trunk of my car, and then walked down to the DSW Shoe Warehouse. I bought a pair of Sketchers that are washable.
We ordered and picked up dinner at our Chicago Pizza place. It was so good. Plenty left over for lunch for me for a few days.
That was our exciting Saturday. I am playing with my minis now.
Have a great night.

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."- EinsteinApril 2, 2022 at 5:52 pm #1465116Good Evening!!
I did rake all the leaves off the front flower bed, 2 1/2 stuffed full bags. Took me a good hour, that’s all but it was heavy work, the worst part is bending over a hundred times to pick up the gathered leaves and put them into the bag. I was tired afterwards. It was a perfect day for it, no strong wind to keep blowing the bag over.
It’s funny, I never take planned naps but quite often if I read in the afternoon my eyes close, only for 10 minutes then I am wide awake and can continue reading but when I want to take a nap, like today, nope, the eyes won’t close LOL
After I rested I had my 1 1/2 hour afternoon chat with son via the phone since he can’t come and visit. He had fever again last night and still has a bad headache and his stomach isn’t right but apart from that he feels fine he said. It’s interesting that he had a very similar response to his first immunization, the Astra Zeneka, no response with the following Maderna shots.
After that I read for a while, had my dinner and here I am.
Steve, you will have been busy.
Joy, you really went to town with your zentangles. Fanzy schmanzy and quite beautiful including the beautiful writing. If I remember rightly that is how we got to know Nancy, she too did some really fancy and beautiful ones, that is before she took up with her minis. Maybe she will show a couple.
Kay, WOW for the Wordle!!! You had a successful afternoon, chat with the neighbor, package received and birthday card sent plus the walking involved !!!
Char, I hope you are just busy but well!!!!
I am going to watch one of the Sketchbook videos next and then it will be TV time!!

April 2, 2022 at 6:29 pm #1465120Good afternoon all – Doug, my condolences and hugs for Ruth on the loss of her friend.
Yesterday DD and I weeded the bed and planted strawberries. Then we made the mistake of having take-out sandwiches from a local Little Sandwich Shop – did not sit well and we all commented about how we forget about take-out food. And, of course, I hardly slept last night.
Today we drove to Duncan, picked up a book DGD had ordered, then drove to Costco in Nanaimo to return my printer inks (not the right ones) and pick up a few more things. Finally, we drove to Yellow Point to see a friend who is a luthier (also used to work for Fisheries, which was how we met) and is going to tweak DD’s ukulele. Back to Canadian Tire and a pet store and finally back home – I’m tired, so will watch Men’s World Curling in Las Vegas on TV – our team won their first game, and play again at 7 tonight.
Char, I hope you are feeling a bit better today.
Take care, Betty
April 2, 2022 at 6:51 pm #1465121Doug, I am so sorry to hear that about Ruth’s friend. My father had amputations of his lower limbs after getting gangrene. I remember him being in extreme pain prior to surgery so he was glad of it. He lived on though, for at least another 5 years until he had a fatal heart attack. We thought he was old then – he was 65. !!
Uschi, we don’t have any of those stores here.
Re wanting to do less…you know that the less you do the less you want to do and …and…. so on and so on…. until you can’t do what you want to do…!
Joy, love love love your zentangles!! With SR, I think the beauty of it is that it gives you permission to play without caring about the outcome, and all of the classes are free!!! I haven’t got very far yet but I am enjoying seeing what others are doing and that they are having fun doing it. Art and creativity doesn’t have to be serious!
Big difference between our Sketchbook challenges and Sketchbook Revival – in those you are told what to draw, in SR you are shown how. Totally different concept. I do admire the organizer, Karen Abend, for her enthusiasm and skill at putting it all together fir the 5th year.
Yes Mike, Covid is currently the unseen enemy…
One of my sister’s fully vaccinated grandchildren got covid, very few symptoms….we waited with bated breath to see how his unvaccinated partner fared if she got it. . Same, tested positive but barely affected her.
Off visiting soon, taking more grapes! They are rather delicious. We have 2 varieties, black ones and these very sweet green ones.
Kay, well done!!! I had barely heard of the word, let alone used it!!!
