everyone,
My back is a little achy this morning from carrying the heavy decoration boxes up all the stairs. I came up with a solution for next year. I’m going to hire a moving company to carry all the boxes up all at once. It will make a big mess but Brian won’t have to do it and he’ll have nothing to grumble about around Xmas.
I also came up with a different way of hanging a large garland that goes in an archway so I don’t need to put in hooks and ruin the plaster in an area that’s very noticeable.
I think Brian is coming back today. My son will have to face being alone at some point. Yesterday he only needed to call me once but I’m sure it will be more often without Brian there to distract him and keep him busy. He gets waves of grief and anxiety and needs to talk to me until the overwhelming feelings ease a little. He bought paint to paint the kitchen so that will keep him busy for a little while.
More decorating for me to do today. That will be my focus every day until it’s done. It’s very slow going because I have to take breaks after carrying up each box. But I’m trying to work smarter now. I’m looking inside each one and taking out the heavier items to put in bags and carrying them up separately. However, that means twice as many steps.

November 19, 2022 at 6:34 am #1492352Good Morning!!
Bright sunshine and -4C high.
It will be a joyful afternoon because not only Juergen, Audrey and Steve will be here for coffee klatsch but Hobby Farmer son and his wife are also planning on being here.
Laundry day, will see how the machine functions, keeping fingers crossed.
JJ, a lovely concert followed by a delicious lunch – how good can it get!!!! That is quite the organ in the background, great photos!!
As to the Giving Machine, that is an interesting concept and a bit of a change from the catalogues with gifts for goats, chickens, pigs, etc. that World Vision has been sending out for years. You could buy a cow for someone and give the certificate to someone as a Christmas present. I did that for several years.QS, glad that your painted birthday card was so well appreciated!!! Love that poem!!
Sylvia, that is great news about Larry’s back but doesn’t really fix what he was complaining about. It could be that due to the hip surgery one of his legs is now shorter or longer and that throws everything off and creates back pain. I hope there is a way to combat it, speaking from experience Weighted Vest – he doesn’t give up easily, good for him LOL
Adena, yes, the poor people in Buffalo!! I hope all these tests for your husband will show what exactly is wrong so it can be dealt with, I am sure he must be nervous!! Glad doggie is doing fine!! Great working venue!!!
Ellen, hiring a mover is a great idea because I am sure Brian likes the carrying up about as much as you do LOL So glad that your son feels free to call you when he needs to, I mean good that he is not too shy to do so, you two must have a great relationship!!
Carol, how is Audrey Hepburn coming along?????
Char, thinking of you!! ((()))
Hi Doug and Bill!!

?????November 19, 2022 at 7:05 am #1492355Good morning. We supposedly had snow flurries after midnight. I did not see anything falling down from the sky that was white. It is 33˚ right now. I am glad I can stay in the house.
It took five tries to figure out how to put the lights on the Charlie Brown tree. I remembered we would string the lights between the branches. I rested when it was finished, and then started putting the icicle ornaments on. The tree is all crystal and glitter icicles. I have a few more spaces to fill, and that part of decorating will be done. The rest is easy to do. It will get finished over the next few days.
Ellen, I used to use big plastic tubs. When I downsized and gave my girls ornaments from the collection, I changed to Ikea clear plastic bins. They nest together, and I can see what is in each container. The hard part this year was stringing the lights on the new tree.
Uschi, Have a fun day with all your company. I also hope the washer behaves itself.
JJ, Wonderful day of entertainment and dining out.
Sylvia, So glad that Larry’s back is OK and does not require surgery.
Hi to everyone, time to finish putting the last icicles on the tree.

It’s been a busy morning with precious little accomplished. But I feel hale and ? hearty. I haven’t wordled yet. I’ll work on the poncho today. I’m on row 8/28. Hooked on the simplicity of the pattern… pun intended.
My noon psw is here… She’ll make my lunch while Kenzie makes a dump run.
Love and hugs Everyone… ?

We must leave our mark on this worldNovember 19, 2022 at 9:50 am #1492368Char, I love your pink hair. It is so festive for the Holidays! Great that you are keeping busy by crocheting!
Put the last icicle on my Charlie Brown tree this morning.
Now I have to do the rest of living room. I will not hang the wreath on the door until Thanksgiving.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

Getting in my car to go shopping this morning, I see I had caught a mouse in a trap I had set. One had been nibbling on my tissue, so I had no choice. Shopping done.
I had gotten a letter from my bank stating that my savings account has had no action for nearly a year and if it didn’t show activity soon, I would be punished and the balance would be sent to the state. So I withdrew $10. There is a satellite office in the grocery store making it convenient.

November 19, 2022 at 10:31 am #1492370Good morning friends. Nice to see you Char.
Uschi I really hope your washer fix works as I don’t think new ones are as well made.
Kay, did the snow storm get as far as you?
I love your tree Nancy
-5.6C at 7 this morning. I’m in my recliner with Stubbi and my fireplace on. My poor chair needs to be recovered as Stubbi hauls himself up with his claws, but I can’t have it redone while I still have Stubbi.
Even more reason for me ot to curl – BC has decided no one has to self-isolate.

November 19, 2022 at 11:20 am #1492376Housework is done and I had my lunch. The still blooming geranium is dropping endless petals on my floor, I leave it for days but at some point they too needed to be swept up.
My frolicking seems to have no end, Superbaker phoned and is inviting us for dinner at lunchtime tomorrow followed by scrabble. Crazy woman, who wants to do additional cooking LOL
Char, you look lovely but very different, not only the hair which BTW looks great and really suits you, but you lost a lot of weight. Because you are no longer outside your skin is sheer perfection, or is it the PSW’s urge to keep scrubbing you Really wonderful to see you!!!!!
Nancy, LOVE that tree!!!
Bill, a mouse in the car?????? YIKES!!! The bank is offering your savings to the government??? That is weird, especially after only a year of no activities. Are you sure it wasn’t one of those nasty emails???
Betty, cold here too and yes, cats and their claws ruin everything. You should have seen the sides of my beautiful love seat when they were still alive. Cold here too!!!!
re Washing machine – well, I put the clothes in turned it on and left the basement and when I came back an hour later the clothes were clean so I guess it is working LOL
Betty, the repair guy told me 3 to 5 years is when most washers need repair or replacement.

November 19, 2022 at 12:21 pm #1492377Hi all,
Just returned from walking to the pharmacy to pick up my Prolia shot. My knee and hip hurt bad by the time I got back. Probably because I walked all over tarnation yesterday doing a huge grocery shop then hauled it all upstairs and put it away. I was really lucky when I got back that there was a parking spot on the street near the building. Yippeeeee!
I was hoping to bake bread today, but we’ll see.
So.
Betty glad you are all warm and cat cozy. No, that kind of snow does not really reach here much. I don’t live anywhere near a lake although I am surrounded by water, two rivers, a tidal basin, and a bay.
Uschi I’m glad the machine seems to be working. And, boy, are you the social butterfly. This house was built before electricity. It was wired for electricity in the 1920’s, except for the kitchen, which must have been redone in the 1990’s I’m guessing. It’s loaded with gfci outlets.
QS I love the arrangements. You are a good teacher. Oh, before I forget, I loved your abstract. Wow, it only took me how many days to remember that?
Aw, Char, pretty in pink! How’s the air mattress? Comfy I hope.
Nancy love that tree. Yes, being able to put ornaments all the way to the trunk!
Eww, Bill. Better a tissue than the wiring. I guess. Eww.
Doug sorry you had such a foofaw with transferring money. But glad you had a better night’s sleep.
Sylvia glad the tests were negative.
JJ that’s a beautiful performance space. Love those murals.
Annie I’m glad you can avoid the hoons this weekend. I lie with my feet and legs elevated when I watch TV, or, as I’m doing now, typing on my iPad. That way I can do my foot and ankle exercises every so often.
Steve I hope you can get just the floor you want.
((((Mike))))
Adena (((()))) for you husband. Pix of the pup?

November 19, 2022 at 12:24 pm #1492378Good day all! Green as green here, so glad we are across the lake from Buffao! Poor souls.
I have been watching skating, what else LOL! But if you want to see the best ice dance anywhere, look here. An absolutely stunning display of the top 3 teams this season. That is the end of the video from the skaters yesterday. The final of the series is in a couple of weeks, I don’t see how it could be any better! Lots of smooth interesting music, too, from Rhapsody in Blue to two more abstract choices.
Uschi said pretty much everything, great that your washer is working again
Wow, Char, a lovely smiling face!! so great to see you
Stunning, Nancy! love those icicles
Spanakopita, Adena, one of my favourites too when I could have cheese.
Must get back to my knitting and card making, have a good remainder of the day!
Cheers, Lynn

I’ll miss my hugs though
Betty, that is a shame about the curling, you will miss it. I agree, too scary out there again, infection rates are going up again here, and the powers that be recommend masks indoors. No mandates yet, not surprising given the disastrous responses last year, but may be necessary. And really, probably there are so many respiratory problems with children now is due to all the masking and protection during Covid, they haven’t built up any immunity yet. Can’t win.
Cheers, Lynn

Earlier this year we had a money market sent to the state because of inactivity. I told them by mail to keep it active but Capital One Bank ignored the letter. Argued with an Indian about it to no avail. Took me four months and an abundance of paperwork and notary signings to retrieve it. Won’t do business with them again.
On second load of wash.

November 19, 2022 at 1:34 pm #1492383Hi, all!
A bit too chilly for November 20th, and snow showers here. The baseboard heat is struggling to keep up with the west wind coming our way. New windows next year—famous last words!!
My sister and her hubby dropped off 5 antique chairs from Mom’s, that she specified for me in her ‘will.’ We are trying different arrangements, and I think we’ve settled on something—my DH’s idea. He has no design experience, so I’m surprised I like it, so far. I can’t let him know though, otherwise more rearranging will be in our future!! ?
Uschi~ the art class ‘Audrey’ is resting until class resumes November 30, per teacher’s instructions. My own attempt is slowly progressing. Have fun with all your socializing!! You are busy!
Kay~ Good to take it easy today, with all the traipsing you did yesterday.
Char~ what a lovely color on you!! You are glowing and look great!! Do you still wear your glasses? I’m glad you’re managing the shawl.
Ellen~ no wonder why your back is complaining. I’m glad your sister is there to help, but from the sound of it, she’s in frail health and shouldn’t do too much. It’s good that Brian has been there for Ash, offering a listening ear in person. I hope you can spend some time with him as well—he needs a ‘mama’ hug!!
Adena~ thinking about you and your DH, sorting out his various issues. ((()))
Nancy~ your tree is so sparkly and festive. Love it!
Lynn~ I hope your food delivery goes well, and there are no surprises.
Bill~ mouse in the car?? Eeww!!
I did have a family of mice living in my engine compartment eating the hood insulation—they were poisoned and died there—smelled ‘ripe’ for a while. Then a family of chipmunks built nests in the remainder of the insulation, and stuffed the cavities under the hood with grass. All told, mouse traps didn’t work for either, and my car smells like decomposing grass still, even though it’s been a couple years.QS~ I love that poem!! Glad you got some R&R after your demonstration. I’m glad your NQDIL loved the card. Reminds me—I have to paint a card for my MS, whose B-day is in 10 days. I need inspiration!!
Hi Doug, Betty, Steve, JJ, Lulu, Annie, and all!
