Good morning all, we had a golden dawn, not sure if it will last. There’s only a slight breeze looking at the tall trees at the end of the road, but more heavy rain is on its way.
I had an awful night, I went to bed early but couldn’t sleep!
A belated Happy Birthday to Adena, a special celebration as it is your last day in the job you hate today. I hope you love the new position and that there is much less stress.
A brilliant mammogram device Lulu, I hope it catches on. I did see a non invasive scanner some years ago on Ted but I think it was stopped by various scanner competitors.
Have a good day everyone.

We must leave our mark on this worldFebruary 19, 2022 at 1:22 am #1458900Good evening Doug. Yes, I hope they get the funding required to take it further.
I blame all the mammograms for my flat chest, it never bounced back!
Omicron is on the surge here. The protest has become an ‘occupation’. And illegal. Just so annoying and now it is creeping into other cities. Not sure how or when it will all end but it shouldn’t have been allowed to get this far.
Today my Wordle was # 245 – got it in 3. Was so excited when I thought it was going to be 2!! Just wild guesses really.
Adena
Photo in next post is our last picking of our Luisa plums. They are large, juicy and delicious! We have picked huge quantities, stewed and frozen, gave lots away and of course we each eat several each day.

February 19, 2022 at 1:35 am #1458903Good morning Doug and Lulu and everyone still to wash up here.
Glad to see you’ve survived the storm, Doug. No damage here either. The rain is on it’s way. The wee bit of brightness that was there when I first got up has already gone and the skies are heavy.
I blame all the mammograms for my flat chest, it never bounced back!
And what was left headed south.
I’m sorry omicron has hit hard in your area,Lulu. Take care.
Happy Belated Birthday, Adena.
BBL. Have a good day all.

Yes, Omicron in NZ is in the news here, I hope they can clamp down on the protestors.
Wordle in 4 yesterday, I hope I can solve it today.
PS Good morning Joy, glad to hear that you had no damage.

We must leave our mark on this worldFebruary 19, 2022 at 2:42 am #1458914Good evening all..
I have had a super long day. I was up at 6.00am as the electrician was coming early to tweak my bathroom exhaust fan. Then a run with Tania to her butcher, 30 minutes drive away. Worth it as the meat is exceptional.
Lunch at her local on the way home.
Back to Tanias for a virtual bra fitting. That was a laugh!!
Next look at the open house of the Town house for sale in her complex. Tania and I both really liked it. She has put in an application. Fingers crossed.
came home just in time to get changed and go to the Chapel for a Valentines diner. That was a lot of fun. Home again at 6.30pm and I am ready for bed.
Nice looking plums.
Doug, sorry you had such a rough night.
Joy glad you and Doug survived the storm.

Very windy night. I slept well for three hours.
JJ, your days are too busy for me.
Lulu, lovely plums. One of my plum trees has died at the root and needs to be replaced or the other will not be pollinated.
Doug, hope you can get nap. I will.
So, I hear there is a new omicron variant.

February 19, 2022 at 3:03 am #1458917Good Morning, All, and Happy Birthday, Adena ????.
Doug, I slept fine last night, but the night before I just couldn’t get to sleep. I think I was concerned about the storm.
And what was left headed south.
That made me laugh, Joy. I’m glad there wasn’t much damage in your area.
Thanks for the link, Lulu. That looks promising. Uschi, I had never had a problem before yesterday. I think it depends on who you get.
Sylvia, I’m glad Larry is making progress.
I have bread to bake this morning and some beds to prepare for the 4 little people who will be joining us. It’s half term next week and we are having the GCs to stay from Monday to Wednesday. Pre Covid we would go away in February, but now that the two older boys are in school, it suits their parents better if we go away in term time. Miss A will be in her element with her 3 cousins for company, and I will be in my element with all those little cuddly people.
Greetings to all still to wash up on the stormy shores of Wet Canvas.

Morning, Bill. Shame about the plum tree.

February 19, 2022 at 3:10 am #1458920So, I hear there is a new omicron variant.
Yes I was reading up about it. The BA.2 virus — a subvariant of the Omicron coronavirus variant — isn’t just spreading faster than its distant cousin, it may also cause more severe disease and appears capable of thwarting some of the key weapons we have against Covid-19, new research suggests.
New lab experiments from Japan show that BA.2 may have features that make it as capable of causing serious illness as older variants of Covid-19, including Delta.
And like Omicron, it appears to largely escape the immunity created by vaccines. A booster shot restores protection, making illness after infection about 74% less likely.
BA.2 is also resistant to some treatments, including sotrovimab, the monoclonal antibody that’s currently being used against Omicron.JJ

JJ, all we can do is wear masks and not take chances. I don’t like to eat out, I do shopping early in the morning and mostly just stay at home. Others have their own way of dealing with this, but taking chances is not mine.

February 19, 2022 at 3:55 am #1458925Good Morning all,
It is 5:45 a.m. here in still sleeping Oakwood. Another chilly day in store around here, but warming up nicely tomorrow.
Larry is getting more and more independent as his bone heals. He can put his shoes on with the long handled shoe horn we bought and tie them using the walker frame as a support as he does. He still can’t bend down so utilizes things to help. He hates being dependent on me for so much, I’m glad to see him getting better.
I didn’t sleep well last night either, Doug. Kept waking up too many times. Reposo this afternoon will be welcome.
Belated “Happy Birthday” Adena. Glad you will be starting off this new year of your life in a better job situation.
Those plums look delicious, Lulu.
Brava to those young party organizers. Hope Tania is the winner of the house lottery, JJ.
I was sorry to read that you had been ill with Covid, QS, but glad that it wasn’t a severe case and you seem to have no lingering after effects.
to all who were here before me and to those on their way.
SYL,
Sylvia
February 19, 2022 at 4:07 am #1458929And like Omicron, it appears to largely escape the immunity created by vaccines.
If you mean you can still catch the virus, yes you can. If you mean that the virus will put you in hospital on a ventilator, not very likely if the UK is anything to go by. If you want to know if the vaccination reduces the effect of the virus so that you can go about your daily business, yes it does. Look at the fun day you had yesterday. You had a tradesman call to your home, you went to a butcher 30 miles away, then had lunch out, visited an open house, and went to a Valentines dinner where no one appeared to be wearing a mask! Your life seems pretty much back to normal.
At the start of the pandemic we went nowhere and saw no one. My son would drop off shopping, leave it in our porch and text us to say that it was there. I was afraid to go out. We’re a world away from that now, thanks to the vaccine.
