Good morning friends, had a reasonable night.

I’m a little stiff after my walk, I haven’t walked any distance for ages. I’ll have to start with shorter local walks and build up to longer ones. We have a great footpath network around the town out into the countryside.

I managed to upload a picture from my tablet. That is just one quarter. I have walked most of them in the past before covid.

Hi Doug and all to come.

I am about to go for my walk.  Yes Doug, it is best to start with a short distance and work yourself up.  I am excited, I have found a local upholsterer. He has a FB page and his work looks wonderful.  I will ring him on monday.

    I’m back.

I’ve discovered that Alan doesn’t like being left behind.  I don’t know why when he walks beside me he walks slowly and shuffles. When I am ahead of him and can’t see him he walks normally.  So, I leave him to rest at the seats along the way, and he rests awhile then catches me up. :-) I don’t walk that fast anymore, but I don’t walk slowly.  He isn’t puffing when he catches up, so I make sure I’m ahead all the time.

    Hi Doug & JJ

Go steady on the walks Doug – but keep it up. Use it or lose it the saying goes. I miss being able to walk far. Six years ago I was clambering over the Cumbrian fells ……times change.

JJ – your comments about ‘slowcoach’ Alan made me chuckle. For years, my Ann complained that I walked too fast. Now, roles are reversed; she says she cannot walk as slowly as I do! So she has to wait while I catch up.

Visit to Eye Unit resulted in complete change in medication! Hope this lot works because I find it difficult to draw or paint for long.
A watery sun out there and it has rained overnight.
Greetings to all yet to surface.

    It should be seen Doug.

Mike, thanks for the update regarding your eyes.  I really do hope the new medication works.. Hugs.  My daughter walks way faster than I.  I think Alan is playing me. chuckle.  In the supermarket for example, I will walk away from his because he is dawdling, when he thinks I am gone, he walks normally.  Go figure.

        Good day all,

Doug, I’m jealous of your path availability.  We have none on our side of the state.

JJ, gorgeous flower.  I don’t mind shopping but I am anxious to complete the task.

Mike, hope the new meds improve your vision.  Terribly frustrating for you, especially as an artist who sees beauty more than the average bear.

I’ll be driving a good hour to a Michigan watercolor society meeting this morning.  There’ll be a couple demonstrations and it will be fun to meet some fellow artists.

Good Morning, All.  Well done on the walk, Doug.

JJ, I didn’t think I walked slowly, but YS and DIL are much faster than me.  And of course I only have little legs, being short.

Mike, our Prime Minister has lived down to my expectations – in fact she’s gone further.  She gives a very good impression of someone who is completely clueless, and has all the charm of an ironing board.  I hope the change in medication does the trick.

Bill, what a lovely outing to look forward to.  I hope you really enjoy it.

Lulu, I haven’t done any studies on personality types, but I did once get the book “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus” out of the library.  There was a quiz at the very beginning, which told me I was either a man or a lesbian, so I kinda gave up on it.  I did grow up with lot of boys and very few girls where we lived, I had mainly boy cousins, and I did Maths in the sixth form and was the only girl in the class.  Then I had 3 sons and now I have 3 grandsons, plus of course, Miss A.  She and I have to stick together!

Because I worked as a supply teacher for a while, and also as a flower arranging demonstrator, I became quite used to travelling to places by myself and standing up in front of strangers and talking to them.  This makes me seem extrovert, but like Nancy, I can work alone or with people, and I love my own company.  If I get poorly for any length of time I can quite easily become a hermit and lose the habit of going out.

Lynn, you are so right about the internet keeping us connected during the pandemic, and I think Wet Canvas was a huge asset to us all.  I hope you avoid Covid and keep well.  When I had it my beloved didn’t catch it from me despite living in the same house, and I didn’t catch it from him when he had it later.  Not did Miss A who was staying with us when he had it.  The forgetting what you’ve gone into another room for occurs because you cross a threshold apparently.

Uschi, I think routine is helpful for us all, and it certainly works wonders with small children.  I know exact.y what you mean about friends of similar ages helping each other out with words.  If I completely forget a word I’ll often jokingly say “I’ll text it to you at 3am when I remember it!”  You do have regular social interaction and you play Scrabble and garden so I think you’re doing fine.

Nancy, I hope you get plenty of ebook sales.  Well done on the winnings.  What will you spend it on?

Anita, you will be pleased when the bedroom is painted.  It’s made such a difference here.

Adena, the new puppy will bring you so much happiness.

Char, good to see you checking in. We love it when you pester us and tell us that outside it’s as dark as the inside of a cow.

We are having lunch today with Miss A and her parents, and Master C and his Daddy.  His brothers are at cub camp and Mummy is working.

            Greetings to all I’ve missed.

Oh Doug that is both cruel and so funny.  I remember it from years ago. Lulu and John are good people.

I nearly spat my bay leaves QS at your comment about that book. I was in your category. BTW nothing wrong with growing up with mostly boys. They teach you much and if they don’t have a taliban beard, encourage you to be the best you can. Funnily enough my dad was a boy, who never said to me or my sisters, you can’t do that because you are a girl.

I have recovered the bay leaves. Swallow.

Well at least the UK is going to be untrussed soon.

                :bye:

                :bye: everyone,

Still completely dark out. I miss the light and birdsong in the early morning. It will be a long winter (as always). Brian is at work and no driving the boys today so my time is my own. :-) Except for the fact that I can’t leave the house until I get a delivery and a return is picked up. I’ll keep busy with painting on the portrait and working on the recipe book. That took up most of the day yesterday so I can repeat today. At least supper is leftovers and cooking is one job I don’t have to worry about.

My brother in New Jersey (who was laid off from his top wage category job when he reached 65) found another job and it’s back in Canada. :yahoo: He will work remotely for a few months while they look for a rental in Ottawa (don’t want to rush into buying a house), downsize their “stuff”, do a few cosmetic fixes on the house they are in now to get it ready for selling, and figure out the paperwork of moving house and jobs between countries. Their son will stay down in New Jersey (at least for now) where he is living with a girlfriend and has two jobs.

My sister had a call from a cardiology unit in Sudbury. She had requested Ottawa so her appointment there was cancelled and sent on to Ottawa. Waiting again to hear about her consultation appointment.

My son in Toronto is going through a bad time so positive vibes sent his way would be appreciated.

((((Char)))) – maybe someone could type out what happened and when someone asks you could send it to them so you don’t have to keep explaining over and over. Get as much sleep as your body asks for. You need time to restore some energy. I wish I could be there to help but it sounds like the last thing you need is more people there. I’ll send you huge cyber hugs.

Mike – I hope the new meds help your vision.

Doug – build up walks slowly. And don’t forget to bring water.

I missed Wordle today. I had all but the first letter so there were too many choices.

I better have breakfast. It’s starting to get light out so I’m getting more energy. :good: I’ll check in later to read what you’ve all been up to.

                #1488510

Good morning.  I woke up a few times last night trying to avoid sleeping on the sore muscles from walking 5 miles and then sleeping on a firm mattress.  I spent the afternoon and evening in my recliner.  This morning, I only have a few sore spots, but those will fade as I do my chores today.

QS, The money that I win is keep in my gambling stash for Oklahoma trips.  The last two times I was able to win a few small jackpots, but that will not happen every time we go.   Growing up, I played with all the neighborhood kids.  I also had an older brother and most of my cousins were boys.  Since we were baby boomers, there were a lot of us.  By the time I was in 4th Grade, I could hit and catch a baseball as good as the boys.  I was always picked first by the boys during our gym classes.

Lulu, I have to have alone time to be creative, too.  When the girls were little, I was regular mom during the day.  After everyone went to bed, I was in my studio working on miniatures or sewing.  I had to have me time.

Have a wonderful day, I will be doing some house chores, laundry, and then heading to the studio to be creative.

                Nancy
