Good morning all from drizzly West Lancashire.

Well, the month is half over and no real cold weather yet.

These late nights watching snooker are disrupting my routine, but I managed about six hours sleep.

Friends called in and asked me to set up their new tiny cheap phone but it was useless, so I dug out one of my old smart phones, reset it and put their SIM card in. A short lesson on how to put in their contacts and an instruction to get a Google account asap and they went away happy. Glad to be of use to someone.

Just watched a lovely video on YouTube and it has me inspired to do some more mini paintings. Here’s the link

Hi Doug and all to follow. :)

You ate a good friend Doug. I’ll look at you video after dinner.

Tania and I  went to her clients butchery. It’s so well presented, staff so friendly and accommodating. Worth the drive to Chatswood. Only 20 minutes there from my place.

I bought some beef short ribs, two filet mignon, and four delicious looking lamb chops. Alan is happy as I only had a freezer full of chicken and one duck.   He’s a red meat Eater.

    It’s been stinking hot here today 30deg C it’s only dropped to 26deg C at 6.30pm.

    This evening feeding.

Good Morning, Doug and JJ.  Well done, Doug on sorting out a phone for your friends.  I’m trying to move my phone contract as the EE network isn’t  working for me indoors.  I have hundreds of free texts and minutes but the signal is so bad that I can’t reliably make or receive calls on my phone when I’m at home.  Last Saturday I asked for the code that would let me move my number to another provider. No problem, but the new lot, which promised next day delivery on a SIM card, still hasn’t come up with the goods a week later!  Thank goodness for WhatsApp.

I’ll look for your video on Youtube so that I can get a bigger view.  I like the idea of small paintings.

JJ, the men in my family also like their red meat.  I try and organise a few meat free meals now and then.

Adena, what great news about your new job.

Ellen, can you post a link to your sister’s “no knead” video, please?  Isn’t it great when DILs ask for advice?

Hi Kay, good to “see” you.

Sylvia, what a shock for you to lose you neighbour at such a young age.  His family must be devastated.

Lynn, you could have done without that worry.  Glad you’ve been reassured.

Uschi, you did a marvellous job of replying to everyone last night so I can say “what Uschi said”.

Tonight is stuffed mushroom. His face dropped seeing as I brought all that meat home lol.

Adena congratulations on securing a new job.  I am excited for you.  Who says prayers don’t work. :)

I wrote  a post at the end of the wash yesterday, and it isn’t there?

Lynn I am so sorry you got such a scare.

Sylvia, oh no, I am so sorry for his family, what a tragedy.  I am stunned, so young to have a heart attack.

I’m trying to move my phone contract as the EE network isn’t  working for me indoors.

Same problem here QS, but we solved the problem by putting the phone on wifi calling when it is in the home. Go to Settings,/SIM Cards, click your SIM card name and this takes you to SIM card settings. Down the list is “Make Calls via Wifi” and enable it. This allows calls to come through your wifi at home.  Ours is an Android mobile.

If you click my video it gives the option to view it on YouTube QS.

Yes, great news from Aden :good:

        Hi everyone,

Cold grey morning here. Bad night’s sleep and feeling ‘crook’. Ann also not A1. Think we’ve picked up a big. Nothing that a fortnight in warmth & sunshine wouldn’t cure!

Doug – I like the snooker but it goes on too late. Yesterday I fell asleep half way through ‘Death in Paradise’ at about 9.30 pm. Missed the News ( no great loss) and pudding. Always remember the great Davis/Taylor Final; my Dad had had a stroke and couldn’t speak but watched the match in great excitement.

Lynn- sorry you had a scare re your treatment. Easy to think the worst but all is well.
Nancy – ‘wordle’ sounds interesting. I play ‘Wordshaker’ tournaments. Think I have done tremendously well to discover 75 words in three minutes only to find that someone who calls himself ‘Jez Toop’has found 167! Never mind, keeps the brain cells working.

Morning QS – hope that SIM card has arrived. Mobile phone reception here is not good but neighbours on different networks seem to have similar problems.

Must get up and face the day,

        Bye for now

        Mike

            Good day all,

Cold here this morning and had to turn on the kitchen electric heater.

Doug, good video.  I’ve been dabbling in graphite lately.  Good on you for gifting your old phone.

Adena, again, how nice things worked out for you.

We seem to have pretty good phone reception.  Spam calls have no problem reaching us.  I just block their number.

Sylvia, how sad your neighbor passed at such a young age.  I believe covid probably had something to do with it.

While shopping yesterday in my mask and face shield, I caught a smile or two from maskless fools.  What can I say.

            Later,

            Bill

A good Saturday to all….We’ve reached our high for the day at 48° this morning.  Rain moving in and the temps will slowly drop over the day.    Ice, sleet and snow start tonight and end around noon tomorrow………….so they’re saying.

Ceiling is done as for as hanging the dry wall…..last 2 sheets were buggers getting them to fit.  Thank gawd for the man/woman who came up with the idea of the flush cut reciprocating saw.  Today I’ll start buttoning up the walls…..after that comes the mudding and step, which takes the most time, as it’s a 3 step process…..first step is tape and first mud coat, followed by sanding, another coat of mud, more sanding, final coat of mud and final sanding….  mud takes about  24 hours to dry, so it’s going to take at least 3 days.  The shop vac’s gonna get quite the work out.  We’re getting there….slow but sure.

Adena….congratulations on the new position…..life is just too dang short to have to deal with that kind of stress on a daily basis.

Sylvia …. sorry to hear about your neighbor’s passing……..I think we’re going to be seeing more of these sad events as the long term damage of this virus becomes more known.  My condolences to his family and friends.

Cats have been fed, Lisa just got up…….time to start the morning with meds and breakfast……and planning.  Greetings to all here and those to come…..have a great day, evening or night and STAY SAFE!

Be good, do good…..start with your self.

            Steve.

Pain and heartaches aren't options in life........misery is a choice.

                Good Morning!!

BRRRR it’s Ellen weather cold, -22C but will warm up to -15, YIPPEE   :D a bit of sarcasm :)   Bright sunshine to go with it.

Son did come down yesterday and will do so again today and then that is it until this huge Omicron wave has come down.

I talked with our 94 year old half blind Anneliese and she is delighted because she is getting home care from our Health System. Three hours, three days a week, so the lady did the vacuuming and then said what else would you like me to do, I have two more hours to spend with you so Anneliese asked her to play scrabble with her :D I am so pleased for her but I hope she stays safe, these visits are a bit dodgy right now.

Sylvia, re your kind neighbor, what a shock, I am so sorry and am also pretty sure it has to do with the damage the virus did. Glad Larry is in good spirits.

Doug, I’ll watch the video when done here. Nice that you could pass on your old phone to your friends, my son keeps wanting me to have his and I don’t want it, I really do not need a cell phone.

JJ, lovely video!! Poor Alan thinking he’d get all these goodies :) but I am sure your meal was delicious and he was pacified!!!

QS, hopefully your SIM card arrives quickly.

Where is Joy, we haven’t heard from her in a while???

Steve, for the ceilinging being up.

                Hi Bill and Mike!!!

                    everyone,

‘It’s chilly out with a temperature of -39 but the windchill is -48. It will warm up to -21 later. That’s what Brian is waiting for before he goes out to do the snow blowing. There are blue skies and sunshine but ice crystals in the air make it look a little hazy.

I’m organizing my to do list for today. I want to try starting some sauerkraut in my new fermenting crock, pack up a package for my son in Toronto, laundry, and normal house chores. I will send out the zoom link later today for those who want to chat tomorrow.

Adena – that is such good news about your job. I hope you can change soon.

Sylvia – I’m so sorry to hear about your neighbour. That is much too young.

Steve – instead of dry sanding between layers of mud, I use a very slightly damp cloth to remove roughness in the dry mud. But I’m very picky about doing very smooth coats of mud to start with.

QS – I’m not sure how to get a link while on my iPad but if you do a search on YouTube for No Knead Sourdough Bread Pamela Dallaire it will come up. She does her bread differently than me because of her severe arthritis but it works beautifully.

It’s getting late and my list won’t do itself so I’ll check in later.

                    Good Day Washers

                    – 29c AGAIN THIS MORNING   but no wind-chill :-) and beautiful winter  blue skies.

The only thing  on my agenda is my  daily 15 minutes of   splitting wood with the log splitter,   Easy Peasy!

Sorry  to hear of the passing of your neighbour  Sylvia .

Bill,   double masking is much better than a  face  shield   Even better is if  you have access to medical N95 masks on top of cloth .

wishing all a good day /stay safe and warm  or cool  depending wherever you reside  .

                    Cheers to All

Good morning.  It is 36˚ and the northwest winds have caused a wind advisory for our area.  I finished my knitting my second leg warmer last night, so I have my working sweater, leg warmers, and bottles on.  I am toasty warm.

Almost finished with my laundry, then I have to make a loaf of bread and make spaghetti noddles from scratch, and the sauce.  Today, I will be chained to the kitchen.

Sylvia, So sorry for the loss of your neighbor.  He was so considerate and helpful to you and Larry.

Adena, :yahoo: On securing a better job and getting extra help until you will be out of the current job.

Anita, I hope your son took extra precautions during his transport of his girlfriend’s mother.

Doug, That was so sweet of you to help your friends out.  Since we have a strong phone signal in our house, I have never set up wifi calling.  I guess I should.  Great news on the new members.

Uschi, I solved my first Wordl in 4 moves just now.  I wish it had tiles to move around like with Scrabble.  The new mini will be posted later today.  I have to take some photos first.

Mike, Word games do keep the mind moving.  But so do my miniatures having to do math to get my cuts right, and, of course, knitting.

Bill, If you have T-Mobile they have their own app called Scam Shield.  It really cuts down on spam calls.  Those maskless fools are taking a huge chance right now.

Steve, I am trying to get all my chores finished before football playoffs start.  It is going to be fun to see who survives the Wild Card playoffs.  Cowboys play tomorrow.  I don’t have much hope for them to get past this round.

Ellen, I will be watching the Cowboys try to win their football game during the Zoom call.  Open up a second page using the + sign in Safari.  Then CMD C the link, switch back to the first page, then CMD V the link into the link box.  Very easy.  To get a degree sign, hit Option K.  It is magic.

Have a great day.  The dryer is calling me to come fold my clothes and  put the last load in the dryer.

                    Nancy
