Good morning friends, an early start today, I couldn’t get back to sleep.
A routine Monday ahead, cafe meet in the morning then bowls this afternoon if the rain holds off.
Ronnie O’Sullivan won 11-9 after a cliff-hanging extra frame of snooker. He is phenomenal, still on top form after over 20 years at the top.

We must leave our mark on this worldSeptember 18, 2023 at 3:10 am #1526477Good Morning all,
It is 5:00 a.m. here in Oakwood, still dark and sleepy and a bit cool this morning.
Nothing exciting happening here. The garden is still growing, waiting for the last 6 tomatoes to ripen.
Hummingbirds are coming to the feeder fattening themselves up for their long migration flight that starts any day now.
This is my latest watercolor. It is the flower of a hosta plant in front of our house. I took the photo when it was in bloom a month or two ago, gone now.
I’m working on another floral bouquet painting. I will pass it around the art class for people to sign on the back. On the last day of class, I’ll give it to Nita as a thank you for her superb teaching over the years. She told us she isn’t going to be teaching any more now that she’s moved to an apartment near her daughter south of us.
Hope all who are feeling poorly or hurting have a good day today.

September 18, 2023 at 3:26 am #1526478Good day all,
Partly sunny with a shower today.
Sylvia, lovely painting of your Hosta bloom. It’s the end of an era with Nita retiring.
Hi Annie
Doug, you have a fine Monday routine. Does snooker have prize money?
My blood work came in pretty good. Cholesterol at 166 but red blood cells a little high, as usual. I meet with my doctor today then some light shopping.
I hope to work on my trail some today. Yesterday I saw some deer making use of it like it was their own.

September 18, 2023 at 3:42 am #1526481Good morning Sylvia and Bill.
That’s a lovely Hosta you have there Sylvia, I have never seen one with blue flowers before.
Well, the rain has set in, I think the bowls will be off. We play for fun, so we don’t play in the rain.

We must leave our mark on this worldSeptember 18, 2023 at 3:48 am #1526482Good morning, All. My late mother loved the snooker, Doug. Even when we had a black and white TV. Also the wrestling on a Saturday afternoon. Mick McManus was a favourite.
Annie, just sing ?I’m busy doing nothing, working the whole day through, trying to find lots of things not to do.? I,m very good at that.
Lovely painting, Sylvia. I live host as, but so do the slugs,

Goid news on the blood work, Bill. I hope you pronounce Mackay as Mack-eye and not Mack-ae which many of the English do. We have a song that goes “Och aye, Jock Mackay for he’s the guy that I’ll marry”.
Belated Shana Tova to you Kay. I didn’t know about the books by John Ball..
Ellen, it sounds like Ash is being well looked after by his aunt, but what a long day he had.
Lynn, I think a broad education is a great idea.
Uschi, I often put the subtitles on when I’m watching TV. It isn’t that I can’t hear, more that I can’t make out what people are saying because of poor diction or accent. Modern TV speakers are also a problem now we have flat screens. I can often recognise fellow Scots from pictures, and the Irish too.
Lulu, my aunt lived to be 82 and never did an exercise in her life. She did have 17 great grandchildren, and drank a glass of whisky every night.
Anita, I’m sorry to hear about your foot. One of the friends on our trip to Edinburgh had developed tendonitus in his foot which stopped him going out with his walking group back home. It was much improved by the time he got to us, but rest was the only prescription. I used to use the RICE mnemonic for foot and leg problems.
Hi Nancy, Steve, JJ (we will probably cross post), Betty and Adena.
We had our flu jabs yesterday and booked our Covid boosters for early next month. I have a slightly sore arm this morning, as is usual, and I’m feeling tired but otherwise OK. I think I’ll tackle emails today. They don’t half mount up when you’re away. I will unsubscribe from a few more.

The family leave tomorrow. They have cleaned out most of the villa where their father lived, but they have a month. Understandably they are exhausted and still in shock. We are too, 2 days sick, then boom, gone. Certainly didn’t see it coming.
John and I will take on the daily visiting of his sister, as much as we are able. Won’t be hard, she’s the sweetest lady. She and John talk about early family days on the farm, she has good recall of that time.
Linedancing tomorrow, looking forward to that. Haven’t been able to go for a month.

Hi Lulu, sorry for your BIL’s passing so sudden.
Hi JJ, glad you had a great day.

September 18, 2023 at 6:07 am #1526492A good Monday to all……chilly here this morning, was 57℉ when I walked out to TBR with my morning coffee. High upper 70’s – low 80’s today.
Hoping I hear from Jayco (camper) today with any drawings they can provide. Worked on the roof front vertical panel some yesterday…there was a micro crack in the fiberglass finish that allowed water to get in behind the finish and water and 3/8″ cheap plywood just doesn’t end well. I’ve got some mold rot damage to the plywood. Caught it early and don’t think it will need a new piece replacement. Killed the mold (Yellow mold) and then brushed it off. Today I’ll the drill and steel brush wheel on it and grind the damaged wood away. Once I’m down to solid wood, I can patch the damaged areas with multiple layers of fiberglass coatings to build the thickness back up to it’s original thickness. It’ll be better than the original design in strength and longevity. Once I get the lift system issues solved, I’ll list it again at $2000 off what I originally listed it as….pretty confident it will sell quickly at that price as while it is 10 years old, it’s basically in prime condition. I hate to see it go, but the realities are that as much as I love to get away on my solo fly fishing breaks, I’m getting to that age where it’s just not all that safe for me with my declining health issues……wading in thigh deep water fly fishing takes more coordination and effort than one thinks. Throw in the currents, rocky bottoms and such, I reach fatigue levels more quickly……time waits for no man.
Other than that it’s going to be a light day.
Doug….sorry about the bowls.
Meds and breakfast calling….Lisa’s already fed the felines, Greetings to all here and those to come. May your Monday, day, evening or night be blessed.
Be good, do good….
Steve.

September 18, 2023 at 6:29 am #1526496Good Morning!!
A nice weather day in the making, a high of 18C.
I am enjoying the lovely fall days but also letting them slip by without making use of them. Somehow some greasy kind of soot got on my car and it needs to be washed off, I don’t want it being rubbed in at the automatic car wash, so maybe I’ll have a go at that today. It could also do with a good vacuum. All would be so easy if it wasn’t for my aching back etc.
Yesterday I finally got my google/youtube account sorted out. For some reason it would never let me respond/comment or even thumbs up and it really bothered me that I am making good use of people’s generosity in posting the videos without me being able to thank them. Now I won’t feel guilty any more.
To celebrate I watched another wonderful “Near Death Experience” video. I just love them, nondenominational but so uplifting, could maybe consider them my kind of “going to church on Sunday”Doug, glad you got to watch your snooker. Sorry the rain spoiled your bowls.
Hi Annie!!
Sylvia, that is a lovely Hosta flower painting and Nita will appreciate and enjoy your bouquet with all the signatures on them. The warbler whose songs I enjoyed all summer also left to go south.
Bill, you are a healthy specimen and like Lulu to work on it!!
QS, I agree, it’s not necessarily the volume but their very quick mumbling because I don’t need the subtitles when watching the news or a documentary. I will get the flu shot and Covid shot in October.
JJ, the birdies are a delight, so glad you had a good day!!
Lulu, that is the kind of “going” I hope for or even shorter but hard on the family, on the other hand watching someone suffer for a long time is equally hard or worse.
Steve, you are such a “handy” guy, really keeping fingers crossed for successful repairs.
Now let’s see what Wordle has to offer

?????September 18, 2023 at 7:20 am #1526500everyone,
Thick fog again this morning. It is going down to freezing tonight and tomorrow. Brian will bring in the hanging plants and I will cover the few potted plants that I want to keep going. I planted a Dahlia bulb in a large planter and it is waist high and just setting buds. It would be nice if it could bloom.
My pool pilates classes start again today and I’ll go twice a week. I am going to the gym 3 times a week and then I’ll take the weekends off because there is always things planned on the weekends. Two weekends from now I’ll have the boys for two days while their parents oar out of town with friends. This weekend my sister is visiting for an ornithologist convention. I am going to help hang the bush art show on Wednesday and then we have the opening on Friday sitting outside having snacks around a bonfire. My kind of opening. LOL
Brian just left for his walk and I have to pack my swim bag if I can remember where I stored it.
Have a great start to your week everyone.
September 18, 2023 at 10:42 am #1526508Good morning. I slept the morning away after sleeping in the my recliner for two hours during the SNFootball game. My Miami Dolphins won over the Patriots. Miami was the first football team that I followed when we lived in Florida. And the second year I was watching them, they had the perfect season! Still remember the excitement.
Today, I will be doing laundry, and trying to finish the last 5 ornaments. I want that project finished and done.
This week is busy with doctor appointments and one popped up for tomorrow. Then we have to drive to the car dealership at the other end of town and catch lunch on the way there. Remember that little piece of artwork I created for our salesman…The Mr. Kia Says sign. Someone stole it from his desk when he was not there. Yesterday, I made a new one, put it in a photo fame. Now I have to find a chain and lock to wrap around it.
Sylvia, Love your painting. I now Nita will be touched and will cry when she receives her gift from you with all the signatures.
I did go ahead an buy the large case of 72 watercolor pens from Michaels with a 30% off coupon saving $20. Then I have to have a case to store them that let the markers stand up. Talk about an engineering nightmare. It to 3 tries to get the holes in the watercolor paper the correct diameter. Then I had to ad guides to keep the straight and upright.
I love all the luscious colors, and I do not have to mix paints. This only cost me some time to engineer the frame to hold up the top piece with the holes in it. And it also holds my brushes. Yes, I paint with tiny, tiny brushes. Much to the chagrin of my art professors.
Hi to everyone. Have a great day. Time to go put some laundry into the washer.
Nancy
