Good Morning Washers! Yup… it’s bright and sunny and dry and heating up. We may be imprisoned in the air conditioned house yet again.

We talked to Jon late yesterday afternoon. He and Amanda had been to motorcycle training all weekend and both of them are now licenced. It’s something that my DIL has apparently always wanted to do. I don’t much care for motorcycles.

Amanda’s tests have revealed that her lymphoma is very slow growing. She may not need treatment for at least 2-5 years. The tumours are located around her heart, so she’ll need regular testing to ensure they are not growing erratically. The Kids did set the Granddaughters down and explain what is happening. For that, I’m relieved. And that the future is a little brighter than it could have been.

I have no commitments today. I don’t need to water anything till tomorrow. Laundry is already put away. Kitchen is tidy. I just may have to relax a little. OMG… I’ll go down to the Studio for sure. The jar of peppers I’ve been working on is about 60% done and I’ll be happy to get it out of my way.

I am absolutely sick unto death of the angry, combative, vitriolic behaviour of prominent people. They, in turn, seem to have inspired many to behave similarly.

That brings me to you, (((Anita)))… your DIL’s hateful comments to you are beyond upsetting and reflect on her, not you. And, sadly, I do hope your Son will be able to move on from all this terrible drama.

Welcome to Jdawqs for dropping into the Wash!

Geoff, that’s really early for your pool to be open! OMG… smoked mackerel and horseradish toastie… bleccchhh…

Happy Birthday, Doug! Are those wifi headphones hugging your little froggy? If they are, you’ll love them. It does take some amount of time to heal a bruised rib… sorry that it’s hurting.

(((Annie)))

JJ, isn’t your sketch bag permanently packed and ready to go at a moment’s notice?

Mike, :crossfingers: that your nasty soreness is the result of exercising your legs too much!

Happy painting at Class today, Sylvia! Is Nita focusing on anything in particular?

Lynn, at getting your busy Kids to slow down long enough to pay attention to their Mother.

Uschi, I do hope that rain comes your way. There’s nothing forecasted here for at least a week. It’s amazing how long it takes to get the money in cash from our investments. We learned that when we bought the motorhome.

Congratulations on the sales, Ellen!! Your scarf designs are gorgeous. It’s always fun ordering art supplies… Christmas in July.

Hi Bill and all yet to come. I hope all who’re under the weather feel some better today… and that everyone can have the very best possible day! :grouphug:

Is Nita focusing on anything in particular?

She’s discussing complementary colors during this class session, along with everything else that comes up.

I’m glad your DIL’s diagnosis isn’t as dire as it first seemed to be, Char. Still hard to think about, but hopefully advances in treatment will continue and are able to help her.

 to all, I’m off to water the garden now.

SYL,

Sylvia

Hi Char, better news from your DIL. I would love to have a m/bike, but ot on today’s busy roads.

Thanks for pointing out my spell checker mistakes

Yes the bluetooth headphone were a birthday present. We rarely treat ourselves these days, we have enough “stuff” but the phones will be useful – 15 hours on a charge.

We had a rain shower this norning and the temperature has dropped somewhat.

A good Monday to all…..another hot humid day here. We had a tremendous thunderstorm barrel through late evening last night that cooled it off some….a fascinating display of of lightening for over an hour….cloud to cloud and cloud to ground. Our street light pole in front of our house was struck…..boy did that send the cats and dogs scattering. Towards the end of the light show it started raining hard….check the gauge this morning we had almost and inch and a half of rain in about 45 minutes….guess no watering today will be needed. Definitely too wet this morning to do much of anything outside……..

Down side is that, yesterday I got my lumber for extending the fence and then promptly forgot about it loaded in the back of my truck……along with the 2 extra bags of concrete for the post…………this morning they ae as hard as concrete. Totally set up already. The lumber is all pressure treated so the rain didn’t hurt it, though I’ll have to give it a few days to dry out enough to apply a good coating of stain. A few more days’ of delay…..and the need to make another run to Homedepot for more concrete mix.

Nothing scheduled today…..will sit in the studio. Started watching a British series (Inspector Lewis)…..I actually prefer British TV programming over our dumbed down U.S. tv… will paint today and let the series run in the background.

Doug…..Happy Birthday and wishes for many more….and I like the little green guy.

Mike….hang in there my friend…..and don’t over do the exercises for the legs. Moderation…..that old saying of “no pain, no gain…” is pure bull….moderate exercise in a consistent and disciplined effort is the key. We aren’t building up our capabilities….we’re reminding our bodies of what they already know.

Anita….. the facts of your son and DIL are not your facts…..nor is her lashing out at you from her sphere of pain and anger. You can not carry their burden, this is something they have to walk through….even if it is separate paths. Back in my “preacher” era, I used to counsel young couples getting married that their marriage may have been “ordained in heaven”, but it had to be worked out here on earth…..sometimes young people confuse “love” with “lust”…….and the “lust” feeling are quickly eroded by everyday events….I see it more and more……unfortunately, I think relationships have taken on more of a McDonald’s drive through nature, instant gratification, a lump in your gut and then a quickly returning hunger and yearning for something different. Don’t let yourself get sucked into the drama…..that’s the last thing your son needs. Support…. yes, understanding….yes, comfort…..yes, participation……..no.

Time to get moving……..need to ride, do my stretches and morning routine. Need to take my meds and eat some breakfast and figure out what the next step is today……….

Be good, do good……..be a difference and spread your color. BBL

Hi Everyone:wave:

We are expecting thunderstorms this morning, but it sure does not look like that right now!

When I returned from my Doctor’s appointment this morning I thought I should take a few pics of the St. Francis of Assisi lilies and Delphinium’s before the torrential rain takes them apart!

Happy Birthday Doug!!! I hope your rib recovers soon!!!

Good morning. I have been looking for a framed drawing for over a week, and I finally found it late last night after midnight in the garage on a high shelf. Of course, then I could not go to sleep. I finally went to bed at 4 am. I will need to take a nap today. The only reason I am up is that the lawn man comes today.

Doug, Happy Birthday! May you have many more!!!! The headphones are wonderful for those of us with hearing disabilities.

Anita, If I remember correctly, your DIL always tried to keep your son away from you by canceling visits at the last minute breaking your heart. As I said yesterday, there is nothing you can do.

Annie, You need to get your shoulder looked at by a doctor. Time is not healing it.

Char, Great news on your DIL.

Need to get in the shower! BBL

Good morning all – a Very Happy Birthday, Doug.

I use a free photo programme from Microsoft called Photo Gallery – it is very easy to resize photos. It also has a nice video programme.

We had a nice weekend – went to Vancouver and stayed at SIL’s apartment overlooking Lost Lagoon, with a view of the North Shore mountains. There was a lovely breeze for most of the weekend. We made it to Granville Island for lunch on Saturday, then to Bard on the Beach for As You Like it – a very enjoyable production set in 60s Vancouver and the Okanagan – Shakespeare mixed with Beatles music, played and sung by the actors. Then back home Sunday – nice, but tiring weekend.

SIL stayed home to look after the animals, and had a visit from another mink, which, fortunately, this time didn’t get any of our animals. Betty

Happy birthday, Doug!
I dont think I’ll EVER get through moving!
Yesterday we worked about 6 hrs installing the vent for the dryer. Previous owners had used the flex tubing for connecting the dryer to the vent to go under the house and then connected that to PVC pipe AND THEN stopped short of bringing it outside the wall. This is for a gas dryer. Its remarkable 1) the house didn’t burn down, 2) they didn’t suffer carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide poisoning. Any way, I melted my masonary bit trying to put a 4″ hole through the concrete siding for terminating the vent pipe. Will finish today (I hope). I really need to wash some clothes.

The Sahara has decided once again to visit South Texas and the air is heavy with African desert dust. It does seem to reflect the sunlight and cool it down a bit, so we won’t be reaching 100 until the dust abates Wednesday.

Wishing everyone a glorious day filled with happiness and joy.

Always learning so C&C invited and always welcomed

Good afternoon. Lawn man came and went. We will probably be able to skip a mowing next week since the grass is hardly growing without rain.

We went to Ikea yesterday to get a new desk top and two adjustable legs to make me a new desk. The left side rests on a portable Ikea cabinet. The right is supported by legs. In the process, I lost three drawers. So today, I had to go through all the folders to reorganize. In record time, I have found a home for everything.

The trip to Ikea was fun, because we have a Handicapped placard right now. Parking was front row. I found a new shortcut right where you get the buggies that cuts through directly to electronics. The worst part was standing in line.

I have been avoiding watching the news, but I need to hear what happened. Reading some of the article of the result of the news conference, politicians in DC are not very happy this afternoon. Don’t know why they are so surprised.

Now on to shredding my paid bills. Have a wonderful evening.

I hope it’s been a great day for you. I also hope your rib(s) feel better real soon.

We had some nice rain last night and again today. We really need a lot of rain but we’ll take whatever Mother Nature sends our way. ;)

Larry is working until 7pm tonight. He said it’s un-godly HOT in his workplace. I really feel bad for those guys.

I’m making homemade mac and cheese for dinner tonight so will begin it when I get home from work. Justin has been asking for some.

I’m always glad when I’ve got my Monday workday over with. Monday’s are always hard. Larry and I can’t believe how much harder it is for us getting up in the morning. We just keep telling ourselves a couple more years….only a couple more years. :D

I hope you all have a most wonderful finish to your day!
