HELLO:cat:
Its now 10AM in Ohio. Just cleared off the sidewalks of snow & wet rain now slush. Very foggy out this morning. Walked to mailbox & almost fell but I grabbed ahold of the mailbox post. Geez.
Just finished anice hot cup of cappuchio. I’m going to work in our bedroom today. I need to get started sorting my laundry, washing sheets & cleaning my bathroom.. Plans are to paint the bedroom in March, we need a new mattress & spring/summer quilt for bed.
I just got off the phone with a friend of mine. She went to the CHER concert in Columbus, OH last night. With our weather they had an awful time getting there. She said CHER came on about 9PM & stayed till about 10:30, They had a long wait to get out of the parking garage & drive home. Late night for them. Concert was great.
I watched some ofthe Grammy’s & hmmm some of the performances I thought really. It was nice to honor Dolly Parton & Dianna Ross. Seems like so many artists/actors are now in their 70’s & 80’s that I grew up with.
Nancy—What a cute photo of your grand daughter on her wedding day. Very pretty dress. Wishing them the best of luck.
Ellen—I rem that mural. That’s a big job.
JJ—Sorry that you are having such a tough time healthwise.
Geoff—I would think its too cold for Golf. Hope you are feeling better.
Doug—Glad your eye appt gave you some diagnosis. Now to just watch it till they say they need to do cataract surgery.
Steve—-Oh my goodness. That has to be scary. Glad that you know what to do when it hits. I think you are going to be a great asset at the medical convention.
Sylyia—Did I miss your biopsy diagnosis? I’m sure your class will be fun today.
Darla—Glad that you got so much done this weekend. I’ve sure got my work cut out for me here in the house this month.
Kay—-How are you doing????
Char—-Hoep Ted gets to come home this week.
well I need to get moving

February 11, 2019 at 11:50 am #781097A good Monday to all…..cold and raining here today. Will find something to do inside.
No big plans today…..feeling much better. Episodes like that don’t scary me any more since I know what they are…they’re just an inconvenience that you have to take some time out. By time Lisa got home at 5:30 the spasms had subsided…..we just had soup and sandwiches….
Doug….kinda good news and bad news thing with the eyes. But there is a remedy for the cataract thing if it gets too bad….hoping it doesn’t come to that.
Geoff……hope you’re feeling better today….you sir are a dedicated golfer, venturing out in the cold.
Guess I better go eat some breakfast and take the daily meds…..and figure out what I”m gonna do today………..Greetings to all here and those to come, wishing you productive and fantastic day or evenings. BBL

February 11, 2019 at 11:58 am #781095Another cold, grey, misting day. No sun for at least four days, I hate when that happens. When I get finished posting this, I am going to do a quick cleanup of the house. Then I can play the rest of the day.
There is a new football league that is somehow tied to the NFL called the Alliance. There are no kickoffs, and after a touchdown you have to go for 2 points. There are only 8 teams in the new league, one in San Antonio and one in Memphis. The tickets average $20–even cheaper if you want to sit in the bad seats. CBS will broadcast one of the games on Saturday nights. Last night there was one on the NFL Network. The most important thing, all the players are paid the same amount. They can earn bonus money for the amount of time they play. Interesting concept.
Geoff, I, too, found that whenever I have a hobby and try to “sell” something, it becomes work. I quickly lose interest in doing it anymore. I refuse to sell miniatures, because I do not want to make dozens of the same thing over and over. I have no desire to pay more on our taxes than we already do. I hope that the doctors can find out why you are getting lightheaded. I hate that feeling.
Anita, Thanks. Julie and Josh are so cute together, holding hands and just all giggles and sweetness.
JJ, Beautiful photos of your exotic birds. One of things I miss about not living in Florida.
Hi to all, I need to get going! I will be back later.

Had planned on a little excursion tomorrow but nasty weather coming, so cancelled the car, will go later in the week. Thinking about the summer, a booking date for my favourite campsite comes up March 1, fun to make plans
Stunning shawl, Tracy! I like that shape too, did a couple last year. I see your mathematical mind expressed there Now working on an asymmetric one, with a cotton/acrylic yarn. It doesnt block well, so just some repeats of rows of holes give some variety. Pretty snow
Thanks for the archaeology link, John, very interesting, I’ll enjoy exploring there. I enjoy Vera too, have read most of the books, and you are right, Brenda is great casting! And you have morello cherries, how lucky! I can’t find them here.
It took a couple of years for my catacts to ripen, Doug, but I think there’s lots of variation in that timing. A nuisance till it does, though.
Lovely flowers Sharon!
Good luck with the Yupo, Sylvia. Have you seen what Raxu is doing with it on Facebook?
Greetings to all, and hugs to all in need :grouphug:

I still have to clear in front of my garage, but that can wait. If we have to go anywhere, the 4-wheel drive vehicle can take us.

February 11, 2019 at 2:45 pm #781098Morning all –
We’ve had about 14″ of snow so far. Mind you, the most I’ve ever had before in my life was 9″ so this is new territory for sure. It’s also a new February record for Seattle! And…the latest storm warning just started and we are expecting another 4-8″ from today through tomorrow. After that, it’s one more big front this week, but SUPPOSEDLY temps are to begin moving above freezing by then so nobody yet seems to know if the final storm in this series will be snow, freezing rain, sleet, rain or (most likely) a mix. I have to admit I’m ready for a transition since unlike some neighbors, I don’t own a snowmobile so that I can escape the house.
Since I’m a telecommuter and I have both power and internet, today is a regular work day for me.
OMG JJ, that is a heck of a weather map!! I love the birds you get in your yard and wish I had a tumbling composter like that!
Very interesting project John! From my fulling/felting experiences, I would guess almost all the fulling came from the sea action. From what little I know, salt has been used to set dyes so the salt in the seawater might have had a specific purpose in that regard. An interesting question!
Oh Geoff – can the podiatrist’s office check your BP? Do you suspect that or something else for the light headedness? Doesn’t seem like something you want to ignore, especially if you are driving I *SO* identify with your experience on the art/business front. I used to really be into quilting. Then…I started TEACHING quilting. I never declared it as a business, but I was putting a lot of time and effort into it in addition to a full time (plus) job. And what I ended up doing was sucking the joy out of the quilting and burning myself out. While I might eventually teach a little knitting or something else in retirement, I will jump so headlong into it that I turn a hobby that I do for personal relaxation into a stressor again. I’m so sorry that has happened for you with watercolor!
Ellen, I’m pretty sure we all want to see some photos of that mural and how you/others are working on it! That sounds MASSIVE!
Glad your eye appointment is done Doug! On to more fun things
Betty, I can just imagine you watching that person. Great entertainment value when someone is THAT clueless!!! I grew up in central California – definitely NOT snow country. But I somehow managed to learn the basic rules of driving in snow and ice (or more accurately, when NOT to venture forth if my vehicle wasn’t properly kitted out).
Anita, what a lucky friend to see Cher in concert! I went and looked online and there are no locations anywhere close to me. I’ve had terrible luck getting concert tickets anyway the last year or two – one of those robo services always manages to buy up all the tickets, then re-sell them at many times the face value of the ticket. Pooh on that. Maybe the venues outside the US have better controls for ticket sales!
Steve, I’m glad your evening was much less eventful than your day! I did catch your comment yesterday about how vocal your felines are They must be good companions!
I never heard of The Alliance. “Egalitarian” never seems to go down well here in the good old US of A – I’ll be curious about their long term success!
Lynn, where is your favorite campsite? (And is it really a CAMP site? Or….???). On the shawl shape, yup, I like half circles a lot more than triangles – they wrap nicely and I’m never been a huge fan of a having a big point right over my butt hahahahahaha.
Nice pic Betty! Has the new snow arrived yet? It’s now snowing hard here.
I’m wondering how long before I get another email update on my amazon package delivery. I ordered a resupply of fatwood (a kindling/starter for the wood stove) in JANUARY. It was supposed to be delivered last Wednesday. Delay, delay, delay because of inclement weather. Mind you, the roads were clear on Thursday and most of Friday, but they wouldn’t deliver. So imagine my surprise when this morning I get an update that it is out for delivery TODAY. Today while my road is complete white with snow-covered ice a couple inches. And an active storm warning as we get another 4-8 inches. I have a baggie of chocolate chip cookies that I made yesterday ready in case an intrepid UPS driver actually does show up!
I hope Char is on her way home with Ted!!!

Martin Luther King, Jr.February 11, 2019 at 3:00 pm #781088Tracy, my BP has been checked twice this past week and for an obese diabetic man it is reckoned that 108-110 /74 is nothing short of brilliant…my blood sugar is tending towards high, not low.
Probably just part of my,as yet unknown, malaise.

February 11, 2019 at 3:18 pm #781103John, from what I gather the project is about paintings depicting the cloth while moving around in the sea it is not about fabricating the actual cloth, right??? Do they have an actual cloth they can position in a variety of positions to use as a reference???
Uschi
Hi Uschi: Yes, there is length of tweed, about thirty yards so far, that they had woven for them by the Jamieson woollen mill in Sandness in Shetland and took delivery of it in an unfulled condition. They are planning to exhibit a range of work in different media including, as I understand it, one or more installation using the cloth, video projections of the process and the locations (called tuvacuddies – the spelling varies as its an old dialect word that never had a regular orthography), possibly cast sculptures as well as pictorial images. As some of the photographs on the website suggest, they have already been experimenting with it in the sea.

February 11, 2019 at 3:56 pm #781092Hi again, yes, Tracy it is snowing here – I will go out a bit later and finish shovelling in front of my garage – at least there wil be that much less snow next time. My cable guy just arrived – he usually phones ahead, but didn’t this time. I was going to tell him not to bother, but he has a 4wheel drive truck. The problem was at their end, not mine.
Art as a business – when I was still working for myself, I contacted the tax people, and they said ANYTHING I sold from my art had to be declared and both PST and GST paid on it. So I did, and was able to use the losses against my other income, as well as claim GST back. Haven’t sold anything recently, but have retained my GST in case! Betty
February 11, 2019 at 4:09 pm #781080Hello!
We received about 4 inches of snow last night and tonight around 2am we are expecting freezing rain and snow through to 1pm tomorrow and then another storm on Friday. WAHHHHH…..hurry up Spring!
I have a couple of stops tonight and then hurry home to pack up the box for the kids and run to the post office which is open until 7pm.
Today is Kelsea’s boyfriends 25th birthday. She’s going to be 21 in December and I just can’t believe it. Kaitlyn will be 22 in July. Those girls are getting so old. It still seems like they should be our little girls still.
I didn’t sleep well last night which is normal for me on Sunday night. I kept waking up. I think we’ll go to bed by 9:30pm tonight.
Yes, Anita we did get a lot done this weekend. I’m slowly getting Larry to purge. It’s hard to do but we really have so much “stuff” that we don’t need or use anymore. How many jackets, sweatshirts or tee shirts does someone need? Or pairs of shoes? or screwdrivers and wrenches? Get the picture?
Neither Larry nor I wanted to go to work today. He really enjoyed his weekend. We did work on Saturday but did it at our own pace and on Sunday we didn’t do any work, it was a lazy day. I made my valentines day cards and he watched hockey. We ordered pizza for dinner. Larry said another die-setter has left the department so that will mean he and his partner will have to go in for 3am and work 12 hour days until they can get someone agian. I’m trying to talk Larry into bidding out of that department. He knows his job but it’s getting harder and harder for him. It takes a lot of strength and stamina. He’s at least listening to my reasoning.
I hope you have a great rest of your day!

February 11, 2019 at 4:44 pm #781099Geoff, that’s impressive blood pressure no matter your age or weight!
The warm air coming from the South has snuck in to us and Mother Nature can’t decide on snow or rain right now – it keeps changing back and forth. If we get a bit more of the warm air, then maybe we’ll stay above freezing tonight and make some headway on clearing out all this white stuff!

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.”. Martin Luther King, Jr.February 11, 2019 at 5:57 pm #781079Good Late Afternoon, Everyone! After shovelling snow from the back porch and sidewalk, then cleaning off the van, I made my way to Windsor early in the morning. I wanted to be at Ted’s bedside to talk with his Dr. and Wound Specialist. Well, I missed the Dr.
I did learn out to re-dress his incision and the open wounds. Then, how to attach the foam for the vacupump. The new portable is humming away. It was about 1:00 pm when he was finally discharged. Then, a couple of young porters helped me carry down the huge box of materials for the pump, his duffle bag and, of course, Ted in the wheelchair.
When I got him settled in at home, I had to make a run to the pharmacy in order to fill his prescriptions for pain medication. Back home, I moved him from the spare room because he hated it in there, to our room. He napped. I answered and made phone calls.
I have cancelled my classes for the next couple of days. We have some winter mixed weather moving in… snow, freezing rain, etc. I don’t want my Students trying to brave the roads. And confidentially, I just want a little time to myself.
Before I left this morning, I put my collected chicken bones into the instant pot and had it pressure cook while I was away. I just have to get it canned this evening.
I’ve read the Wash and you have made me smile. That’s a good thing. McKenzie and Brittany will be here soon, so I should go. We’re having grilled cheese and tomato soup per the Invalid’s request.

February 11, 2019 at 6:12 pm #781100Char! (and hi Ted! ) Grilled cheese and tomato soup is such a fantastic comfort meal to welcome Ted home!
Why do hospitals not have in-house pharmacies that at least provide enough of a med for a patient for their first week back home?! Just insane.
Smart move with the classes and I’m sure your students would have been understanding even without the weather factor!
I can just imagine you and Ted having dinner together tonight and then both of you having a deep and healing sleep. :grouphug:

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.”. Martin Luther King, Jr.February 11, 2019 at 6:22 pm #781093Okay, Uschi and Anita, here I am. Some days I just get in a funk and don’t feel like posting. Other times I need to get stuff done, and I run out of energy too fast. Both hips and knees are hurting, but the left one is just miserable (the non-replaced one). Today wasn’t too bad until I stood to cook up a vat of my bean and sausage soup.
I have jury duty next week. I hope I can get through it. Had to reschedule once already because it was after my surgery and I couldn’t do it.
So, today I think I got my walking in, traipsing back and forth between my kitchen and the bedroom putting my laundry away. Yesterday I said you’ve got to get it done because they say we’re getting snow. Did we get snow? No! But I went and did my two huge washer loads, dried and folded. And I was able to stand the whole time I was folding! Yippee! When I got back I unloaded it all and left it in the foyer while I drove the car down to the garage, parked and walked back then hauled it all upstairs. Hmmmm, no wonder I’m sore today. I was going to leave my car because I got a great spot just in front of the front door, but I said, “No, it’s going to snow” And besides there is a handicapped gentleman who lives near who was waiting for a spot, so I let him have it.
I’ve also been doing mending. I managed to unbury my sewing machine. While I was putting the laundry away I realized I’d left my keys in my parka pocket. When I lifted the sleeve I noticed the armhole seam had opened up. The way things are made today. I had to open out the lining to access the seam allowance then figure out a way to sew up the lining. Looks good if I do say so myself.
Okay well, now I’ve taken up the whole wash.
Tracy you pin that gorgeous shawl to the floor with two cats? I’m assuming you have a space you can shut them out of. By the way I don’t think I said how beautiful your cats are.
Sharon Smokey is a beautiful cat too. Love that pink nose.
Char I hope you and Ted are home by now. :grouphug:
:grouphug: JJ:grouphug: Must go look at your new sketches.
Darla I forgot to say congrats on Justin getting the job. Hope the funding comes through for the job Jen applied for. Is it a county zoo? A city zoo?
Ellen that mural is going to be fab.
Steve glad you are okay. Scary.
Okay I’m losing energy here. Going to vegetate while the soup simmers then feed the brats, uh, I mean, cats.
Oh, meant to say, if anyone gets a channel called Worldview or Mhz they have foreign murder mysteries with subtitles. Nothing in English unless a character is actually speaking in English at some point. They are all European, French, German, Danish, Italian, among others. Donna Leon’s books have been done, but in German though still set in Venice. Some are good, some are just weird. Just letting you know.
Later,
