        Good Morning!!

Last hot and humid day, tomorrow we’ll be back to our normal Spring weather in the low 20’s C, PHEW The sun is shining brightly, there should be nasty thunderstorms as the cold meets the hot.

No need to water the garden this morning, we had a short downpour yesterday evening.

I’ll be doing a bit of weeding in the morning and visiting my old friend Rita this afternoon.

Lulu, great that your caricature was so well appreciated.

Geoff, maybe you need to see your doctor about your “shivery” feeling?? Nice long sleep though:thumbsup:

Doug, your garden is full of colour again, lovely!! Glad your back is feeling a bit better.

Anita, :crossfingers: :crossfingers: that the new house owner is a cat lover.

JJ, how is your knee doing?? As to my hip, I have actually started wondering about a bursa.

 to you Annie, Bill and Ellen and wish us all a really good day!!!

P.S.: I forgot to say Sharon, I loved your pictures in yesterday’s Wash.

 Early here too, the day is looking good so far, but we need rain soon. Watered the most recently planted bed last evening, photos today.

        Lovely garden shots Sharon!

        Annie!

Sounds delicious, Lulu, I may have to bake later :)

Doug, that sounds just like my back too, was not sure if it was hip or back as the pain wasn’t going right down my leg this time. Still, them bones are all connected…. Glad yours has eased off a bit. Am trying Tylenol arthritis and it does seem to be helping. Can’t tolerate the anti inflammatories, unfortunately.

Thanks, JJ, take care of that knee

Greetings to all, and hugs to those in need  :grouphug:

        Edit I was slow typing!

Looks pretty good to me Doug, nice colour mix already.

        Cheers, Lynn

Lynn, I’m using Ralgex Heat Spray and it seems to be doing the trick. I spoke to the pharmacist and he recommends it over ibuprofen etc tablets.

Sorry to bore you with garden photos.

A good Friday to all……TGIF!…..bearable temps this morning…rain last night rid the air of some of the moisture and we’ve got cloud cover today….our respite before tomorrow’s onslaught of heat….triple digits heat index called for tomorrow. Anything this weekend will be AM scheduled for outside.

Not much planned for today, Lisa is staying home….we had Cob salads last night for dinner and about half way through the night she was wretching in the bathroom for most of the rest of the night……food poisoning. Doubt it was the salad, as I had no ill effects, but very well could have been the Chicken Parmigiana she had for lunch……so my house cleaning duties are going to be curtailed….but I always have my shop.

Will install my last section of the railing on the deck this morning and then start figuring out the measurements for the step which will be a combination of wood treads and concrete/rock….

Sharon ….love your photos of you sitting area and the plantings….lovely and so peaceful feeling.

Annie….you need an animated carton video of that conversation with the cats….We now have a new member of the cat family in our house….last week, the dogs were in the backyard barking at one of the cats on the deck. At first we thought it was Indigo…he’s the only one that ventures back there with the dogs. I walked out the side door and Lisa went out the deck french doors….I got the dogs and the cat went right to Lisa. A well cared for Tortoise Shell little female….maybe a year old at most. We’ve contacted neighbors, posted notice and picture on the neighborhood FB page, checked for microchip and lost/found board at the Vet….nothing…..not a peep. So Ms. Kitty has become our 5th cat in the fold and fitting right in…..everywhere.

Doug….glade your back is feeling “somewhat” better….

Lulu….you know memory is the first thing to go in “old age”……I forget the others things.

Burning cooler daylight……animals are fed, I need to eat and take meds……time to get moving.

Be good, do good…….be the “nice” you want the world to be. BBL

Good Morning and Happy First day of June! It’s cloudy, humid and hot down here in the SW of Ontario. We haven’t had any rain yet. It keeps going around us.

We have more gardening to get through today. Hopefully, we’ll get it finished and then do some watering. We still need to clear some of the phragmites down by the water’s edge so we can get the dock in. These noxious plants are incredibly invasive and choke out all the other wetland plants growing in the lowlands.

We need a few grocery items… nothing much.

I usually check the Wash before shutting down the computer when I go to bed (if I haven’t already logged off) and I did see those posts last night. Then… Doug, you thoroughly confused me when I saw them in today’s Wash this morning! Had to give my head a shake!

Lulu, your caricatures are THAT good! :)

Bill, what a workout! I know that Ted does his 3 hour lawn workout as well. :)

Sharon, may I use your peony photo?

Sounds like it was a catastic night for you Annie!

 that the heat spray is working for you, Doug. Ibuprofen is really hard on your liver, so it’s great that you can avoid it. As usual, your garden looks gorgeous!

Jj, we like to go out once in awhile… in fact, I really like Sunday morning brunch at a little place beside a railway track in town. We do that 2 or 3 times a year.

Anita, I hope you don’t have to find new homes for your cats!

Uschi, I do hope it cools down. We’re just not ready for all this heat yet.

Hi Lynn… I have a big bottle of Tylenol Arthritis that doesn’t help me at all. I’m going to turn it in at the pharmacy, I think.

OMG… poor ((Lisa)), Steve!!! I sure hope she’s feeling better now.

Ted needs my help outside… time to go. Have a great day everyone! It’s a blank slate and we can fill it up with lots of good stuff. :)

Steve, sorry Lisa had food poisoning. Been there three times and it was always from someone else’s cooking. That’s another reason to eat at home.
FIVE CATS? Well, we once had eleven, but most were kittens for whom we found homes.

Doug, your garden photos are never boring. I just wish I could see all the colours that the normal eye can see.

Ellen, glad you are finally having spring. We had it for about three days.

I suddenly remembered that I had my blood test yesterday, of course had to check it right away, Liver is good but my Parathyroid is still spewing out too much hormone meaning it still puts too much calcium in my blood means that it affects my kidney function which because of it is not terribly awful but not working up to par.

Half hour after checking I received a phone call from the Parathyroid Surgeon, they had a cancellation and can fit me in on June 12th. That’s in 1 1/2 weeks!!! Remember, the scans cannot find my Parathyroid so this is an exploratory surgery with the hope that the exploring finds the darn thing and if so, take it out:crossfingers: :crossfingers: :crossfingers: :crossfingers:

The only painkiller that really works for me is the Aspirin Extra strength, it really is an excellent anti inflamatory. I haven’t taken one since I stopped playing table tennis last November. I’d have to take one every day if I want to walk reasonably without pain and that would be disastrous for the stomach and my already compromised kidney.

Char, if you ever try the oil you mentioned yesterday let me know how and if it works. Doug with his really good intention did a number on my brain too:D

Steve    for Lisa, that is such an awful feeling. I sure hope it leaves her system pronto pronto!!!

Doug, I don’t think one can get that spray here.

Lynn and Char, nice gardening weather tomorrow.

Good morning. The past hour has been exciting.

Phone woke us up letting us know that John’s MRIs have been scheduled for next Friday for both of his feet and ankles.

Called the pest control people, because I found ants all over the foundation of the house in front. I sprayed with my spray, but that will not stop them. They will come out Tuesday.

Looked at my cell phone and there were texts from the City of Desoto telling me I could pay my fines for the DUI/Speeding tickets. The man who had my cell phone number before me still gives it out to everyone. So, I called the courthouse, and they removed his number and put a note in the file.

Today, we go back to the car dealership to get the spare tire we ordered for the car and bumper protection film. I laugh because I am driving more these last two weeks than I have in a long time.

We eat out a lot as you know. We love Five Guys hamburgers and fries, but you spend more on them than a sit-down meal at Chili’s. Their hamburgers are just as good, so we stopped going to Five Guys. We ate at Longhorn Steakhouse last night. It was the second time I order their small sirloin, and it was the second time it was tough. I told John that the sirloin at Chilis is better, so another place is scratched off our list.

After John’s doctor visit, we went to Ikea. I had to get a new office chair with a padded seat and buy seat cushions for our kitchen chairs. Doctor’s orders to sit on soft chairs to prevent any more issues with my tail bone.

Lulu, Loved your cartoon. Keep exercising. I am restricted to walking right now, but we are getting our steps in by visiting air conditioned malls and stores.

Annie, Is a two-cat night warmer than a three-dog night? The only time Lucy joined us was when a thunderstorm made noise.

Doug, Your garden looks lovely! Mine is in a circle around the patio. I have some annuals coming up that reseeded themselves from last year. Less flowers for me to buy.

Geoff, Your symptoms sound like the end results of a fever. You might want to call the doctor’s office to get checked out.

Uschi, Stay safe when the storms hit!

Lynn, Tylenol is all I can take now, too! It works much slower than the other pain killers.

Ellen, Hope you get all your chores finished.

Steve, I hope Lisa is feeling better today. I am glad she stayed home.

Char, Summer has arrived if you are putting in the dock!

Bill, Our spring was about three days, too. We went directly to summer and have 97+ degrees for the near future. The humidity has dropped and there is a breeze, so we can still work outside if we have to.

Must get going! Hope everyone has a fun day!

Uschi, I thought of you yesterday while mowing down the wild Forget-me-nots.
Hope your system stays strong and the surgery resolves the problem.

Never bored with your garden view Doug! Lovely to see it progress, especially as you are always ahead of us. I’ll investigate the heat spray. At the moment I only hurt with some movements, so it is bearable.

I cant post my garden shots until I get my computer back, Samsung wants too much of my information on this tablet to install a photo editing program.

                    That’s exciting, Uschi!

I thought it didn’t work for me either Char, but it seems to be now. Or the irritation has subsided again. These things are so capricious.

Yay, it’s raining! We need it.

                    Cheers, Lynn

Good morning everyone. May was the hottest and driest for years. June is making up for it as we have a cold, cloudy day – I turned on my gas fireplace!

Bad news, our local pub had a fire this morning, 2 trucks – haven’t heard how bad it is, and won’t go look and be in the way. DD’s office is a block away, so she’ll let us know what happens.

So, hot weather – too hot for me to stain the fence, cold weather, too cold! I am such a wimp.

Kitty has decided to forgive me – for what I have no idea, but I was cat furniture last night and this morning. Betty

                            Hi all,

Sorry. Didn’t get back here. Did not much for my birthday. Went to the pool for my half mile swim. Later made up the ground beef into hamburger patties. Froze all but one. Had that with grilled onions, baked beans, fresh carrots and a vodka tonic. Finished my Peter Lovesey then started another Alan Furst spy novel. Finished that one yesterday and started another.

Also reading a very interesting book on “Broadway.” Not the theatre, but the actual street. The author, Fran Leadon, traces the history of the street mile by mile as NYC is built up around it. I’m only on mile two. I believe it’s thirteen miles(?) and traverses the entire length of Manhattan.

Anita is there nothing in your lease about pets? If there is he can’t make you give them up. If there isn’t maybe you can negotiate. But you may need to consult a housing advocate in your area. I don’t have a date yet. I have to have some tests done first to make sure there are no circulatory or heart problems.

Doug I’m not sick of your garden. You may be sick of advice though. I suggest seeing a physical therapist if your doctor will agree. A simple set of exercises to rebalance the muscles could prevent future episodes. But only a PT is going to know which ones. I do most of mine in bed before getting up and before going to sleep. They are helping.

Uschi :crossfingers: they can find out what the problem is. Sorry your hip is hurting too.

Char what’s the timeline on the counter tops now? If she paints the kitchen will it be okay when they put in the counters? I always thought painting was last.

Lynn hope your great grand arrives soon without any problems! I would suggest the same thing for you as Doug.

Steve could it be the starter motor? The solenoid went on mine and so the battery wouldn’t charge and . . . New starter motor wasn’t too expensive.

                            Okay gotta go.

Uschi the Canadian version of Ralgex is called Deep Relief Heat Spray by Mentholatum. It contains a form of aspirin according to the pharmacist.

Thanks for the advice on PT for my sciatica. I know the exercises and do them before I get up in the morning. Actually, this isn’t the full-blown sciatica that I have had several times and should be gone in a few days at this rate.

It has been another hot day here.

Went to the pharmacy and then across the road for fish and chips – saves me cooking.

Thanks, Kay! I do have a set of exercises, and have been doing them for the last 3 months, but should have been doing them all winter. Still, I think I would be in worse shape without them.

Thanks for the name, Doug. I like the idea of the asprin absorbed rather than swallowed, too.
