Morning all on this fabulous Friday in Kiwiland!
Yet another clear sunny day. Our home comes into its own in winter when it is sunny, it is north-facing and bathed in sunshine. We are sheltered from any wind too at the house so will do my usual and sit in the sun in shorts and t and read for a while and soak up the sun before our weather turns.Got to prepare for a friend coming to stay too. It is a holiday weekend – Queen’s Birthday. His favourite dessert is blackcurrant pie so am in the process of making that too.
Enjoying my sister being in the Emirates with our family. Loving that she loves what i love about the place too – the food, the warmth! the ever-changing desert sand, the sunsets where the sun just drops from the sky, and the beautiful gentle people.
Had my longest bike ride yesterday, 21.5 km. Easy peasy and no after-effects. Mind you, i have built up my fitness gradually. Saw my GP too and he said he wished more people were so pro-active about their health and fitness. So, on with the next challenge!
Such lovely photos in the Wash.
Very happy photo of you both JJ.Coffee in the sun now:wave:
Ps have just had an email from our Minister of Finance, Grant Robertson, saying he loved my cartoon and it had pride of place at their post-Budget party!

May 31, 2018 at 9:08 pm #632630Thanks for caring Bill. Yes I do carefully monitor what I do as do my doctors.
Apart from anything else, overdoing it could put me right back to where I was years ago when I was so ill I barely had the strength to lift my arms to braid the back of my hair.
I have come a long way from those days, but like Geoff’s Claire i can never say i am ‘cured, so for that reason I am very careful.
However, if I had listened to every warning I wouldn’t be where I am now either. All about balance, listening to my body …. and dogged determination.
And I am proud of myself.Lulu

June 1, 2018 at 2:56 am #632624Good morning all, warm with hazy sunshine.
I moved the first four posts from the end of yesterday’s Wash as they make more sense when together.
Congratulations on your caricature Lulu, I can see why it was so well received.
Back is responding to a heat spray, I’m sure it is sciatica, just doesn’t extend down my leg as it usually does. I’m walking much better this morning but still very painful getting up and down.
I’ll post the June challenge later.

I had a very lovely lunch with Tania today, then went shopping for some winter clothes. Some stores have markdown, 2 for one, so I bought a couple of pairs of track pants and tops. I buy midweight clothes so I can layer.. Oh also bought pj pants to lounge in whilst relaxing in the lounge room before bed.:grouphug:Doug:grouphug:
Thank you so much for the lovely comment on Tanias birthday photos I will pass them on when she rings me on her way home from work..
Tania is looking awesome at 46 eh. She is very much into running, marathons and triathlons. She is very fit indeed, and well toned.Yes Tania Elise and I do look very much alike. It is a lot of fun when we are out together.
I went to the concierge after lunch to get my parking validated, and the lovely lady asked where my sister was. I smiled and told her that Tania was my daughter.. hahaha.Geoff look after yourself :grouphug:
:grouphug: Uschi :grouphug: Is it bursitis?
I need to buy mulch for my gardens, I will try and get a fragrant one.
Char that is a lot of money for a simple lunch. It horrifies me what the food outlets charge these days. I most often just have coffee, if I am hungry I will have a bowl of fries. Sometimes the fries are 10.00 a bowl, which of course I don’t buy.
It is winter and you guys are making me want to garden I feel a trip to the garden center coming on. I am wondering if I can get cottage garden flowers to grow in winter. I have been thinking of putting in one of my vegetable beds seeing nothing else will grow in there.. What do you think Annie xx
:grouphug: Lynn good luck for your Great Granddaughter
Bill, I am glad you have found an artclub to suit you xx
Lovely photos Sharon
I think I will shut my front door now, it is 5.28pm dark and quite cool. My windows stay open all year around.

We must leave our mark on this worldJune 1, 2018 at 4:59 am #632636HELLO EVERYONE:cat:
It is almost 5am here in Ohio. I have been up since 2:30 am. Sipping a little cup of hot coffee but I’m going back to bed in a few.
I think I will go downtown for breakfast this morning. Working steadily here. I still felt bad yesterday but kept going. Finally took a lay down at 4pm. Allergies/pollen be damned.
Doug —Hope you get to feeling better. I sympathy with you. ISomething popped in my right hip joint a month ago. Still bothers me.
Geoff—So sorry that your foot is not healing faster. I agree with someone else here that the boot didn’t help my foot to heal a few years ago. I did better without it but I just wish you speedy healing.
Kay—You have been on my mind. Do you have a surgery date? I know you live upstairs so what after the surgery?
Lulu—I got a bike for Mothers Day but have not gotten to ride it yet. I will very soon.
Annie—Cats amazing personalities. I am worried because of the new landlord. I may have to give mine up. That is a heartbreak I’m not ready for.
Hi Darla, Bill, Char, Uschi, Nancy, Lynn, Linda, JJ, Steve & everyone else.
Take care of yourselves

Yay Anita! Join the club::thumbsup:
….Thought for a minute that all Bill’s warnings had come to pass:eek: lol
Oh wouldnt it be fun if we were each given ‘the power’ for a day, what havoc we could createWorkday tomorrow. Curling up to watch Call the Midwife before going to bed.

June 1, 2018 at 5:37 am #632642Good day all,
Though, to my surprise, I’ve already been here.Hoping for a cooler day today as I will be on my feet tending the garden instead of on my seat mowing the lawn.
Until yesterday I mowed with my walk-behind mower, a twelve year old Honda for which I keep finding parts, but I finally tuned and put mulcher blades on my zero turn and now get things done faster and with less wear and tear on my feeble knee.JJ, you do look young enough to be Tania’s sister. It’s your love for life, I suspect.
We don’t eat out much for a lot of reasons: the high prices, the quality of food and the poor cooking. I cook better than even the finer restaurants. So do many of the cooks here on the Wash.Doug, glad your back is improving even for just a little.
Sharon, enjoyed your photos yesterday. A lovely little nook to snuggle up in
Anita, you fight for the cats. They should have grandfather rights. That’s a term btw, not a relative.
Lulu, you and John can eat ice-cream because your body has earned the right, I on the other hand. Nuff said.
I’ve not slept enough, so will soon return to bed.

June 1, 2018 at 6:15 am #632625Hi Bill, hi Anita.
The light was good this morning so I took another shot of the garden. Will be better in a week when the perennials bloom.

We must leave our mark on this worldJune 1, 2018 at 6:15 am #632645I too thought JJ looked younger…
Went to bed at 2130 as felt shivery, got up finally at 1015 this morning. I am dripping again and whilst it is sunny suspect it is tied up with my foot problems.
Eileen has gone into town on the ‘bus, I didn’t go as I think I would fall over.geoff

June 1, 2018 at 6:44 am #632639everyone,
It is grey, cool (3), raining, and only going up to 13 today. Tonight it is going down to 0 so everything will have to be covered. :rolleyes:Brian and I have lots to get done today. Just small chores but it would be nice to get them crossed off the list.
Geese were flying over on their way north yesterday. A sure sign spring is here.
Nothing very interesting going on here to entertain you all so I’ll just wish you a great start to a new month.
