We must leave our mark on this worldMarch 6, 2020 at 2:41 am #957065Good evening Doug and all following.
I’m home. I got a bit teary on the trip home just privately. Kept having these awful dreams in hospital about how I would never get here again. Today is one month since I left for Melgloom and Sunday is one month since the ill fated rap dance.
Cats really offhand and offended until dinner time.
It’s humid but not so hot and we had a brilliant rain shower come through with only one clap of thunder, for Eli. It’s nice being out of an hermetically sealed environment.
Roger is making something for dinner so

Welcome home :grouphug: Annie :grouphug:
I had lunch with Tania, and some shopping for a baby gift for her cousins baby shower on Sunday.. I am exhausted, and I hurt all over.
I was able to buy both toilet paper, and tissues at my local shopping centre. I even picked up a couple of packets of antibacterial wipes. I use those for wiping surfaces down I am going to touch. I have done that ever since I was diagnosed with immune problems.
There is a storm trying to happen, I do hope it will rain for the lawns and gardens, I haven’t watered this week.
Rubbing alcohol is far better to wash your hands with, than hand sanitiser.. Washing hands with good soap and water is the best choice.

I know you said you downplay it, so that is all I will say xxx
My adopted parents have the Wilkie tartan, Bell tartan, Stuart tartan, and Buchanan tartan.
Char keep pushing for an xray, if for nothing else but to set your own mind at ease xx
Gosh, Bill, a deer right to your door, how exciting.
Char, so glad Teds Dr is happy with his number. I hope you can get the sugars under control. HUGE Congratulations for acing your exam!!!
I love possums, the Australian kind and the American kind, and squirrels, and badgers, and raccoons and oh heck all of them..
I am beat, I am off for a wee rest before cooking dessert/dinner. I bought a pie maker, and am going to use g/f white bread to make apple pies, I have a craving. I also have cream!

Hi JJ, I need those wipes, I have the runs and can’t stray far from the toilet, so no snooker for me today.:crying: Had to clean up the bathroom and luckily I got some wipes the other day.
We have a Mackerel sky now, altocumulus clouds.

We must leave our mark on this worldMarch 6, 2020 at 4:09 am #957066TMI Doug Soap and water work for that too. And a mop.
Soap and water and basic hygiene and not touching your face is best. That’s why masks are useless for prevention. Think about putting one on, making it fit, adjusting it etc etc. endlessly, then taking it off, forgetting to wash your hands and then discovering that you are still alive with all the gases getting through. Stuff like oxygen. Looks cool though. Inter wobble is full of adverts for designer masks …. Expensive, look good and do nothing ..
Latest panic after toilet paper and now tissues, is rice and pasta and pasta sauces. Apparently washzed down with a cocktail of cold and flu remedies.
As Steve has said so often and so eloquently, you can’t fix stupid.
I’d rather like to explore Bills suggestion of vodka but I am half legless already.

My Flickr SiteMarch 6, 2020 at 4:48 am #957050Good Morning all,
It is 4:45 a.m. here in Oakwood. We may get some snow or maybe some rain or maybe both this morning according to the weather prognosticators. We’ll have to wait and see.Nothing much happening around here. I always use the wipes they have near the shopping carts in the stores around here, even before the Cororna virus scare. Then when we get home, the first thing I do is thoroughly wash my hands with soap and water. They advise you to mentally sing “Happy Birthday” to yourself twice while doing it.
Doug, Hope your tummy troubles are over soon. Not pleasant, I know from experience.
Annie, Whooppieeee! You are home where you can heal more comfortably. Do take it easy though, bones mend slowly.
Char, Congratulations on such a high score on your exam. Not surprised though. Sorry Ted’s numbers are so high and your back is hurting so much. Hope they both can be remedied soon.
to JJ and all who are on their way.

We must leave our mark on this worldMarch 6, 2020 at 5:48 am #957069Morning all. Glad to hear you’re home at last, Annie. I agree with you about soap and water, if you can get to it. Regarding designer masks, when we were in Vietnam where mopeds are very popular and pollution is high, the young women would be wearing masks which often matched their bag and shoes. I remember a leopard print mask with matching kitten heels.
Doug, I was trying to remember the name for that cloud formation. Thanks for reminding me.
JJ, you sound much improved but don’t overdo it. Enjoy your apple pie. I was very noble yesterday at lunch and passed on the apple pie and custard as I didn’t feel I needed dessert. In the past not being hungry wouldn’t have stopped me having it but after my hols everything is a little bit tighter.
Sylvia, I wish they had wipes near the shopping trolleys here. Door handles and electronic devices are the things we are being warned about here in the UK. Yesterday I went into a shop where the man in front of me was opening the door using what looked like a postcard to cover the handle. “Don’t touch the door handle” he cried. “I’m wearing gloves” I replied. That wasn’t because of the virus. It was sunny yesterday but bitterly cold. Last night I wiped down my phone and tablet using alcohol spray on a tissue. The screens came up beautifully clean. Usually I just breath on my devices to polish them – better give that up now. My alcohol spray is almost done. Maybe I should start cleaning my windows with vodka.
Nancy mentioned how easy it is to take photos with a mobile phone and then delete them if they’re no good. That’s usually true, but ….. I have three problems. One is lack of storage space on the device – I need to work out how to move some of my old photos somewhere else. Another is that in bright conditions I can’t see what’s on the screen so I have to just point and hope for the best then check it out when I’m indoors. And the third is thumb over the lens! Today I’m going to see if my OH has uploaded the holiday photos from our SLR onto the computer.
Greetings to all who wash up later in the shores of Wet Canvas.

Good to hear you’re improving, Doug. That must have been an interesting sight on the plane .

March 6, 2020 at 6:05 am #957071Me again. Here is a photo of the old yellow fort at Funchal old town harbour. It’s called Sao Tiago Fort and was right next to our hotel. We had one very rainy day during our stay and I did do a painting of the fort in my travel journal as I could see it from the hotel library. Our hotel was right next door so I could get a side view.
I resized it to much smaller than the original so that I could upload it. If you think it’s worth adding it to the RIL, Doug, perhaps you could PM me how to do that in a bigger size.

March 6, 2020 at 6:32 am #957049Yes, by all means, upload your photos to the RIL QS, you can usually upload them full size. That’s a beautiful scene.
I am a strong advocate of using Google Photos as a photo backup QS in addition to a backup on an external USB disk – they are quite cheap. You can access your Google photos anywhere on the web, create albums and search by keyword and even share access to a member of the family. My two sons have access to my album of family photos on Google Photos.

We must leave our mark on this worldMarch 6, 2020 at 6:40 am #957061Good day all,
Welcome home, Annie. I’m sure Roger and the cats were glad to have you back. Time for some Balley’s.
((Doug)) sorry for the skitters. Hope it was just a food thing.
JJ, bread for pie crust? It’ll probably taste great. Are you now tolerant of gluten?
QS, it takes a lot of fortitude to pass on apple and custard. I just found out recently how easy it is to make custard. I am resisting.
Sylvia, the public bathrooms are becoming songfests. At Costco the other day I saw a young man mouthing the words to Happy Birthday. I almost joined the chorus.
Janet is relinquishing her affair with a nose tickle. No fever. Zinc lozenges and my elderberry syrup she claims are the life-savers.
Ms. Feral is still hopping around on three legs. I’m busy protecting her from the male invader. Coon are also frequent visitors. Possum are welcome as they (I discovered) eat as many as 5000 ticks a year. What is their stomach made of?
More coffee needed.

March 6, 2020 at 6:53 am #957057JJ, bread for pie crust? It’ll probably taste great. Are you now tolerant of gluten?
It was gluten free bread Bill, as I can’t eat pastry. They were very nice, drizzled with Canadian Maple Syrup and a little cream. The cream did me in, I am lactose intolerant, and now feel yuk. Lactose free cream is on the shopping list.
I hope Ms Feral heals fast xxDoug way Too much information :-O
I had a text message from my granddaughter at 9.00pm She wanted me to drive to her house and stay the night. I told her I was already in my pjs and ready for bed, and she says can you, can you?
I suggested she come over here, and I would wake her at 9.00am so she could go home and get ready for work at 10.30am. She declined, prefers to stay there.
Now I feel guilty, but I really don’t want have to get dressed, to drive over there at this hour, with a tummy ache.
I told her to ring me if she has any problems.
On that note…….
I am off to bed.
JJ

Guess they don’t know about “thinking” the song in their heads, Bill.
Glad Janet is feeling better. Now you can relax… or not since you are guarding Ms Feral.
QS, Yes, I’m glad they have the wipes by the carts in the stores here. Read a story in the newspaper about testing they did and found things like drug residue and other stuff you wouldn’t want to pick up on them.
again, off to make some Oat Bran cereal for Larry and me for breakfast.

It snowed and it is snowing, the worse part is north wind with gusts of 50km. This too will pass:)
I have to go for a blood test for my parathyroid check appointment next week, dropped in there yesterday and there were about 16 people waiting. First time I ever saw that kind of a waiting list, I hope it is better today.
