Hi Everyone! I know this post is a little early for Friday, but our Southern Hemisphere is well into their day.
It was crazy busy here… Our wheelchair lift arrived early in the morning and Ted supervised the assembly. It won’t be installed until the cement pad is laid, which will happen on Saturday. I hope. Then, my Nurse arrived to change the dressing on my pressure sore. Ted stripped our beds and I laundered the sheets, mattress covers and pillow cases… three loads. My physio therapist arrived right after lunch. Then, Ted had to make a run to the pharmacy to collect an antibiotic for me (a uti) and the distilled water that I need for my bi-pap machine.
We received about 65mm of rain yesterday. We’re expecting more, but so far it has gone around us. The basement is dry. Thank the seepage gods.
Doug, I’ve asked about boosters for Ted and I, and our Government hasn’t approved them yet. This renovation of yours has sure been a frustrating experience.
Annie… I dealt with my legsickles and then promptly put long pants on. Go figure.
Actually, Syl, I really don’t have much pain. Just my back, which I’ve had forever. I’m taking CBD oil for it now and that really does seem to help.
The experimental drug has promise. The FDA has reported significant breathing improvements in their test groups. Canada has just begun their test trials.
JJ, it was a long day for Ted. He said that the Dr. went through his neck in order to collect the biopsy samples… three of them. He went to bed when he got home and slept till morning.
Your orchids are certainly lovely. I have only 3 plants and they are only ok, healthwise.
(((QS))) I’m so sorry about the toothache!
Bill, the wind was absolutely wild and the rain came down in sheets. The creeks here have all flooded.
Gail, the nursery here carries a couple of fertilizers for orchids. Easy peasy.
Anita, I turned on the furnace today as well. It was only 12C and just to damp and chilly to suffer through it.
Lucky find, Nancy! What a shame about losing your work, though.
Uschi! What a horrible scare that was! Thank goodness you had the presence of mind to get it showered off right away. Is your furnace not working at all?
Kate… you inspired a lot of Artists to fill their sketchbooks. You can be very, very proud of that!
Ellen, I know that no one wants my good dishes. They’ll end up in a thrift store. Sad. But the times they are a changing.
Lynn, my mouth is watering for delicious, juicy, fresh peaches. Supermarket produce has a long footprint and never as fresh as what we can get from local markets. Love that garden!
Steve, it’s a shame that WC has become redundant (seemingly). I just don’t much care for FB, so my personal direction would be to head to something similar to what we have today.
Sharon, little Muffy is a good pup, but the cats just hated him. They smacked him a few times and then they finally just stayed outside while he stayed inside.
Carol, I’ve never done a landscape that I’d show anyone.
I hope your tooth pain has abated, Joy! And what a shame about your car!!! Just one trophy?
 you’ve had great winds, Adena!
So… my Sister arrived home safely after 5 days of driving. Bless her heart. I talked to both older Kids on the phone today and Chris says he’s planning on coming home here in January. We’ll see.
In the meantime, I wish the very best possible day for all of you! Love and hugs… :grouphug:

September 23, 2021 at 10:49 pm #1437248Good morning all, so good to hear from you Char.
I am endeavouring to create a private group on the Wetcanvas Community page for the Daily Wash regulars. Watch this space.
I hope you can complete the lift installation this weekend, it will be such a boon.
Ruth is off to the Preston craft group today so I am house sitting in anticipation at the plumber starting on the downstairs toilet.
I may pop out early to fill up with diesel as there is a shortage at some garages due to a tanker driver shortage. We don’t do much mileage a week, maybe 30 miles so I have a quarter tank left. A full tank will last at least a couple of months.

We must leave our mark on this worldSeptember 23, 2021 at 11:56 pm #1437252Home from lunch with my girls, and a little shopping. I needed a new mouse.
Beautiful day here, just a light breeze.
Char I am so glad you have been approved for this triel. Fingers crossed. Fingers crossed your concrete pad will be laid Saturday. Big hugs for your pressure sore, that are debilitating. I got one on my bum whilst in hospital after the car crash. It was terribly painful. Big hugs for Ted. :grouphug: :grouphug: Sorry extra things are happening to you.
Uschi I sent you an email xx
Doug, good luck with the group. I hope Ruth has a good day, and I hope your plumber arrives.
I am a bad Nana. Elise and Tania told me about their plans to go visit Tanias cousin next Thursday through to Sunday in Townsville. Elise has someone to look after her dog for part of the time, and I said whose looking after it on the weekend? She says I don’t know, and I kept my mouth shut. My house and yard are just not set up for long term dog sitting anymore. I have plans on the weekends, and can’t leave the dog home alone. I feel so guilty.
New mouse works great, no double click, no shutting down pages I don’t want shut.

My Youtube videosSeptember 24, 2021 at 2:22 am #1437264Good Morning, Char, Doug and JJ. It’s a delight to see you starting the Wash, Char. Sorry to hear about the pressure sore and the UTI, but good to hear about the experimental drug. Where would we be without modern medicine? Those anti vaccination folks should take note.
Doug, I saw the news about the fuel delivery shortages last night. Fortunately my beloved had just filled my car. We have a couple of trips planned so I hope they are not affected. I remember a fuel shortage years ago when himself took petrol out of the lawn motor to give me enough fuel to drive to Cardiff for a flower arranging competition.
JJ, I rest orchids on an east facing window ledge.
Lynn, my next door neighbour keeps bees so they let part of their lawn grow wild earlier in the year. I notice they have mown it now. The bees come to our garden to drink from the pond.
Nancy, how lucky was that, finding the instructions?
Uschi, the E45 cream that Joy mentioned contains lanolin! I know this to my cost as my YS had eczema as a child and the doctor recommended it. It made his cheeks go terribly scaly because he’s allergic to it. Here in the UK we can buy Aqueous Cream which is lanolin free. You get a big tub from the chemist/pharmacy. Another great moisturiser is Argan Oil. The 4th of October sounds far away but it’s only a week on Monday.
Joy, what a shame about the car, and how kind of your neighbour.
I’m almost certainly going to lose my tooth, one of my upper molars. The dentist took an X-ray. It’s infected, hence the pain. The new dentist, who seems lovely, has put something called a sedative dressing on it to “calm it down” for now, and has also given me antibiotics in case that doesn’t work, or it flares up again. I definitely tasted cloves when she put it on. That’s an old fashioned remedy – I have clove oil at home. She’ll look at the tooth again when I have my check up in November, but she thinks it will have to come out. Meanwhile I’ve to take pain relief if I need it, which I do at the moment, but the dressing seems to be helping as the pain is less acute. I’ve moved down to paracetamol!
I have a very busy week ahead but I’ll try to keep in touch.

My Youtube videosSeptember 24, 2021 at 2:26 am #1437266Good evening all.
More green fuzz is appearing, on the lawn and ….. in the vegetable crisper. Lol. Situation normal.
The man was suffering cabin fever today so we went for a drive down the mountain. Got KFC for lunch and came home and needed a reposo like carpet pythons do post prandially. The new wheelchair has arrived. It is smart and light so Rog is on notice that he will be put to works tomorrow in the garden. He can walk down the front steps but can’t make it to the garden. That is what the wheelchair is for. I have assured him that it also has brakes. Haven’t told him that I will be in charge of them on the downhill run

My Flickr SiteSeptember 24, 2021 at 2:29 am #1437267QS I don’t have wide enough windowsills, sadly. They are only 2.5″ wide. Also, my house is really dim inside. I fear there would not be enough light.
Uschi, another thing I use on my face every night is JoJoba Oil. Nothing nasty in that xxx
Good luck with the new wheelchair Annie. Gardening is good for the sole.

We must leave our mark on this worldSeptember 24, 2021 at 3:51 am #1437272Good morning all from a bright and almost sunny Cornwall. A quick fly in from me before I go and tackle the gardenning whilst the weather is suitable.
So glad to see your cheery upbeat post, Char. You are an inspiration. It will be great for you to get the lift installation complete. Glad Ted’s visit to London went okay but not surprised he was tired when he got back.
I havn’t noticed any diesel shortages down here, Doug, but I’ll take your advice and top up as soon as I get the car back. We don’t usually do a lot of mlieage but what we do is extremely necessary. Just a query…won’t we have the same problems with a page on WetCanvas Community Pages as we do here when the site becomes inactive?
JJ, I don’t think you’re a bad Nana. There are times when a dog is an inconvenience but that’s what you take on when you have a dog. They have needs all the time not just part of the time. You wouldn’t dream of just parking your kids on someone else except for a very good reason, would you? so why the family pet. Stand your ground. I love Scrumpy to bits but there are often times when I’d like to go somewhere but can’t because he can’t come too, especially as he’s got older and more clingy, but his needs come first unless it’s something like a hospital appointment. Beautiful orchids.
Hi QS. I’m sorry you’re starting on the toothache trail. I hope you can get some relief quickly. It really is the worst pain and impossible to describe. My dentist told me to get OralGel from the chemist which anaethetises the nerves in the gum all around the infected tooth and helps it to settle down. It worked really well.
Glad that your lawn is beginning to appear, Annie and great that the new wheelchair has arrived. Good to hear that you will be in charge of the brakes – we don’t want any runaways.
Well, must get the day started. Have a good day everyone and I’ll look in again later.

MY BLOG
My Youtube videosSeptember 24, 2021 at 4:20 am #1437274Another quick hello, as I posted late last night or at least late for so many of you.
Joy is correct about the dog and everything else she said. You are in it for the long run when you own one and do everything you do that is necessary. Thus, I made my one-day trip to Boston this past weekend and spent only an hour, to return on home all the same afternoon. Bosgo needs morning and evening meds, and Jack cannot give them to him. I barely get him to give Simmi hers, and now with his busted up shoulder, that is even more tenuous.
Raining like crazy this morning…an obvious remnant that everyone else has been suffering from, but we needed a little. The past week had been joyous.
I am at work, so this will be brief, but hello to all and have a safe and joyous day. I don’t want to be here…..
Adena
