everyone,
It is sunny and supposed to go up to 7 today! I will be outside enjoying spring later (taking down a few more Xmas decorations if we can get to them with all the snow we still have). It is -7 right now so I’ll wait until this afternoon but the sunshine is beautiful.I’m not going to the gym this morning. I want to get started on the two paintings of candy that are drawn out for our art club’s show. I need to get them done. I can’t believe April is almost over!
The artist giving the workshop at our art club last night was a disappointment. She was recommending using Rose Madder Genuine and had never heard of the term fugitive. I had to finally speak up because most of the people attending were beginners and she was setting them off on the wrong foot. She has been selling art all her life using it. She was going to do some research on it when she gets home. She took my few comments well and is a very bubbly, enthusiastic speaker.
Brian has a doctors appointment shortly and then physio then I’ll get him started on a few jobs around the house this morning. I’ve been doing everything around the house for about two months since he got his injury and now that he is back to work he can slowly start taking back some of the work here (taking the garbage out, scooping the cat litter). He can help me with a few jobs outside this afternoon as well. It is nice to see him able to move better.
I need to have breakfast and do some online banking so I’ll just wish you all a great start to your weekend.

April 20, 2018 at 8:44 am #607892Sylvia, YUM I have not even heard of making those but they look great!
The lady so much better at the shots than the rest hit a blood vein yesterday. My beautiful view now has a big tall office building with multiple super bright lights at night. Next door neighbors busy adding outdoor lighting everywhere. So much for dark skies and beautiful views!
I found a book at Barnes and noble on the way to the doc yesterday called the Art of Botanical & Bird Illustration. I used to have a Bird art book that was good and I can’t find it. But finally getting the urge to draw birds. I might just do beaks and feet for now.
Anyone watch SUITS on amazon?

April 20, 2018 at 8:49 am #607881Hello everyone!
It is going to be a glorious day! Yesterday ended up having a high of 58F and today even warmer with total sunshine. I’m loving this weather and having no snow on the ground is even better. It won’t take long for the grass to green up. We have to get the guy who did our new septic drain field back to level the backyard and get it ready for planting grass seed. We have lots of dirt.
Larry has the weekend off but has worked the last three days 12 hours. He’s ready for a couple of days off. Hopefully we can get something done this weekend. It will be great weather anyway so that is good. I think Justin is working tomorrow.
Kelsea got another job; waitressing at a local pub/restaurant. She likes it but is keeping the pizza place job because they gave her a raise to stay and work a couple of days a week. She is a very good worker and is trying so hard to make it on her own. We don’t mind helping her out with paying some of her bills because she’s not lazy. We send Kaitlyn money too because she’s getting very good grades at the university. I think she’s still going to come here for the summer to work.
((Kay)) I’m sorry you’ve been having so much pain.
Good for you Bill, joining your local art association!
((JJ)) I hope you don’t have a kidney or bladder infection. They can be so bad. Do take care of yourself.
LuLu,
Ellen, I’m glad that finally Brian is feeling better everyday.
Waving to you all and wishing you a GREAT day! :grouphug:

April 20, 2018 at 9:49 am #607880It’s an honest to goodness Spring Day!!!!
Good Morning Wash Gang. The cerulean sky is cloudless, the temperature is well above freezing and the sun is shining brightly. The trees are budding out. I love the look of all those little nubs that will *become*.
I have set up a pseudo kitchen in the kitchen space. It’s still a mess. It’s still dirtier than I can deal with, but it was much easier to make dinner last night. The Kids dropped by to make sure we’re still living and breathing.
Today, I can finally organize and clean the sunroom. It won’t stay clean because of all the foot traffic and continued work in the house. But, it’s going to be something of a start in normalization.
We’re off to the transfer station before we do anything else today. The building materials and garbage are piling up. Then we have to figure out how to get rid of our old barbeque. It’s not worth selling and without the truck, we can’t just load and take it to the dump in the van.
Bill, your ink work looks gorgeous all dressed up in mattes and frames! I agree with Lulu that they’re the best!
Gotta go… Ted’s loading all the stuff by himself. Hope to bbl… :grouphug:

April 20, 2018 at 10:06 am #607873Yes, Char, it’s a lovely time of the year, everything coming into leaf EXCEPT I seem to have lost all three of my Ceanothus plants, tree, bush and creeping shrub I know they can be shortlived, but we have had a relatively mild winter and expected them to survive. I’ll wait and see whether the tree actually buds.
Just baked a chocolate cake.

We must leave our mark on this worldApril 20, 2018 at 10:28 am #607884Char – do you have a free cycle group down there? If the BBQ still works someone might want it for free. We have one here and it’s worlwide.
Les! I think you mean 1.59 a litre.

April 20, 2018 at 11:19 am #607893Sunny here too, going up to 9C  Thinking garden thoughts again! Will be interesting to see what has survived. Sorry you’ve lost those plants Doug.
You will enjoy that Gallery Bill, your work looks very nice on that wall It sounds like it is a similar arrangement to our Gallery.
That would be very pricey gas Les!
Uschi, you might enjoy the knitters, I go downstairs here if I feel like company, a couple of ladies knit each evening for an hour, knitting afghans for overseas. Mostly I get my group input at the Village in our sewing group, lots of chat!
I love the look of botanical illustration too Linda. Have fun with the birds. Sorry you have lost your dark nights, I used to love that when we lived out in the country. Too much ambient light in the city.
Nice sketches JJ, those cicada wings are an amazing sculpture. Yes, they should give accreditation.
I love that song too Bill, I remember it from the Choir show, they used it as a test piece in the British show about the young man leading workplace groups in song.
Time to get some chores done, hope you all have a good day!
Greetings to all!
:grouphug:
Cheers, Lynn

"Ring the bells that still can ring, Forget your perfect offering, There is a crack in everything, That's how the light gets in" Leonard CohenApril 20, 2018 at 12:39 pm #607899Good morning. Beautiful sun and temperatures this morning. Today I go to have a hearing test and order my new hearing aid at Costco. I will save over $1,000, but I will have to purchase my own hearing aid supplies. I am so excited over getting blue tooth hearing aids that work with the iPhone and iPad. I will never need ear buds again. I will also be able to adjust the volume and other features on my iPhone. It will require less trips to the audiologist.
Les, That price per liter would work out to $6.02 per US Gallon. We are paying $2.59 right now here in Texas.
Rod, When I was a little girl, there was a news report on TV that stated eating mustard with your food helped to prevent heart attacks. At that point, I decided I would only have mustard and pickle on my hamburgers. It must be that fat busting enzyme the original report was referring to.
Annie, Make sure you post photos of your project when you are finished.
Doug, Sorry you lost some plants. My iris are in full bloom, and the everygreen magnolia is getting ready to bloom. I did not lose any plants this last winter, because we never had an ice storm.
Linda, Your remote spot is turning into a suburb! Our annual tax value statements arrived. Seven years ago, our land was valued at $30,000. Now it is valued at $55,000. I could never afford to buy this house again.
Char, Glad that the kitchen is coming along. It will be finished before you know it.
Hi to everyone I missed. Waiting for my laundry to finish before I get ready to run to Costco for my appointment.

April 20, 2018 at 4:22 pm #607900Back from Costco. I have only 50% hearing in my working ear. So, in reality, I only have 25% hearing since my left ear only holds up my glasses. I will have the new aid next Friday. I also bought the remote mic that I can clip on the left side to pick up sounds from that side. It also plugs into the tv, and it has a T-coil so that I can use it at the movies. I also found out that all my supplies are free. It comes with a three year guarantee. It is a better guarantee than I had with the last hearing aid.
Doug, Your yard looks beautiful. My magnolia is a southern one with evergreen leaves. It blooms for nine months during the year. These grow in the Southern US.
Have a wonderful evening!
