Where is everyone, it is nearly 6.30pm here.
I hope everyone is as well as they can be, and stay safe. We had church via ZOOM today thank goodness.
Must go get dinner on, looking forward to it.

Let go of past mistakes and hurts. Forgive and empower yourself. Live the life you were meant to live. And, be at peace with yourself.

My Youtube videosJanuary 16, 2022 at 1:33 am #1453861Good morning all, I love to see your tropical gardenen and lovely birds JJ.
Glad Allan enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms
I woke at six and started reading my Kindle book, and now it is 8.30!
I’ll do my daily crossword to get my brain working and get the day started.

We must leave our mark on this worldJanuary 16, 2022 at 1:58 am #1453863Good evening JJ and Doug,
Another warm day, and 30C expected tomorrow too. I have taken to having an early afternoon nap, just can’t be out in the sun at it’s hottest.
Betty asked yesterday whether NZ was affected by the Tongan vulcano eruption. The far north has taken a battering and eastern coastlines are getting large swells but otherwise no. The booms from it were heard across NZ though.
Communication is still down in the island most affected so won’t know the extent of damage and lives affected yet.
And Djokovik has lost his appeal and will be deported from Australia – yes!!

January 16, 2022 at 2:05 am #1453864Good morning JJ, Doug and Lulu. I couldn’t get on the site yesterday and I had to log back in today. It a lovely morning here and I’m just off walking with Scrumpy but I’ll be back to try and catch up with what everyone has been doing.
Love your photos, JJ. You live in a tropical paradise.
Isn’t it funny how some activities seem to fade into the background for a while, Doug. I always used to do crosswords but I haven’t done for ages. Partly because we no longer but newspapers, I suspect and I don’t really like doing them online.
I don’t blame you for keeping out of the sun at it’s hottest, Lulu. I like to be warm but I can’t stand hot sun. I can’t imagine what it would be like to live in close proximity to a volcano. Hope the damage isn’t too extensive.
Catch up again later and I’ll do my best to make the Zoom tonight.

We must leave our mark on this worldJanuary 16, 2022 at 2:54 am #1453866Good Morning, All. It felt chilly when I woke up this morning so it must be cold outside. I’m toasty warm when I’m under the duvet so it’s tempting to stay there on chilly mornings. However, church is calling. We’ll be masked throughout, hands sanitised as we enter. and seated on socially distanced seats.
Lulu, I hadn’t heard about the volcano, nor about Djokovic. That’s what happens when you avoid the news.
Joy, we only buy a paper at the weekend nowadays. I like to do the “fiendish” sudoku. I’ve already done today’s Wordle online. It took me 4 goes this time. I do find it challenging, but I’m sure I’ll get better with practice. It must be good for the brain!
Greeting to all still to wash up on the mind boggling shores of Wet Canvas.

January 16, 2022 at 3:44 am #1453869Good Morning all,
It is 5:30 a.m. here in dark and sleepy Oakwood. Snow in the forecast for tonight, thankfully we are on the fringe of the big storm moving along the east coast and may get less than an inch on the ground.
When I walked into my studio to check emails last night, I saw the moon glowing in the sky captured by the tree in our neighbor’s yard. I snapped a photo through the window to show you.
Daughter Kari came over yesterday and helped me get the Christmas tree and boxes downstairs. The room looks much neater and uncluttered now. It was bothering Larry. She also brought us a frozen container of Choucraut Garnie Alscienne that she made for New Year’s day. I traditionally make it from a recipe I got after tasting it in a restaurant in Colmar, France, but, as you know, I was a trifle busy this year and didn’t do it. Larry and I will enjoy it some time this week.
Doug, I used to enjoy crossword puzzles, but now I do double crostics instead. I find them more interesting.
Lulu, The Italians call the rest they take after the lunch meal a reposo. I like that word better than a nap. We take one two. It is refreshing.
The photos of that volcanic explosion taken from space were amazing. I hope it doesn’t cause too much damage across the world coastal areas.
to all,
SYL,
Sylvia

Sylvia, my German grandmothers made kielbasa with sauerkraut and potatoes. They called a nap a nickerchen. Nice photo of the Wolf Moon.
JJ, enjoy your filet mignon. Glad Australia is shipping the so and so out.
I study French in the morning to get my mind working and maybe a game or two of computer hearts.
I’ll be returning to be for a nickerchen pretty soon.

January 16, 2022 at 6:53 am #1453891Good Morning!!
That really bitter cold is on its way out, high if -6C and sun and snow starts arriving in the evening.
Plans for today is to go to the grocery store, no more son’s visits for a while, he was here yesterday and then I went for dinner at the kid’s place.
JJ, lovely photo, I am ignoring the fact that it might be hot there
Sylvia, great shot of the moon!! Good that you got help to put your Xmas stuff away.
Lynn, wonderful photo of your cute GGS and his Tonka truck.
to you Joy, Lulu, Doug, QS, Bill and all yet to come!!

January 16, 2022 at 7:36 am #1453896Good morning. Had my 7 hours of sleep, and my eyes pop open. Woke up to sun shining and 28˚.
Yesterday, I was “Susie Homemaker” and spent the whole day in the kitchen. After I finished my laundry and put it away, the big cooking spree started. I made French bread in the bread maker, made egg dough for fresh angel hair pasta, and made fresh spaghetti sauce with ground chuck. I ended up cleaning up the kitchen three times yesterday, but it was worth it. John even commented that it was the best pasta he had ever eaten. I will have to make it at least once a month from now on.
I started a new kimono sweater in black yarn with a trim of shades of gray and black ombré. This one will have a pocket on it, because I know I will wear it more often.
Lulu, I can only imagine what the booming from the volcano sounded like traveling over NZ. Hopefully, your island and its people are OK. First thing I read this morning in the headlines is Australia kicking out the tennis player finally.
I will not be on the Zoom call…..football playoffs will be calling me. Have a great day everyone, I will check back later.

Grey skies and warmer. It’s -17 right now but going to snow overnight. Brian is out snow blowing right now and then has to change a flat tire on the truck. He’ll just put on the spare and take the tire in to a garage on Wednesday when he’s off.
I have house chores to do today since I’ve had a relaxing couple of days. I have to also box up some things I’m sending to my son in Toronto. I’ll mail them tomorrow. I need to start exercising again. I’ve paused my gym membership until April when I think it will be safe to go back. I feel like I’m growing weaker so back to following online programs for now.
Brian walked by me a few minutes ago and said “nice hair” and laughed. Between the dry static filled air and going to bed with wet hair last night, it is almost standing straight up. I have an appointment for a cut on Tuesday.
Char – thanks for putting in the link for my sisters video yesterday. I can’t figure out how to get a link from my iPad. It doesn’t have to options to follow Nancy’s instructions yesterday. Her starter is very dry compared to mine and her dough very wet. We both learned how to make bread separately on our own (my mother and grandmother were terrible cooks) yet our results are very similar. If you follow the principals, bread is very forgiving in how it’s made.
The boys start back to in class learning tomorrow so it’s back to early morning driving. It gets me up and moving nice and early every day.
I’ll get started on my chores so I’ll wish you a happy day.

January 16, 2022 at 8:23 am #1453904HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE
It is about 9:30am here in Ohio. Sun is out now but we might get some Winter mix later. I don’t think they have a clue which way it is gong to go for us.
Keith had to go into work for a couple of hours this morning. He should be home by lunchtime.
yesterday I did some cleaning & getting some info ready for the visit with my friend on Tuesday morning. Too bad we will have to wear N95 mask to have the meeting I live in hope that one day we will not have to be masked up. Anywho I have a notebook started on my thoughts for each room in the house & questions. I’m very interested in what he will have to say & what paint color.
I tell you I am very “cabin feverish” at the moment. I would love to get out of the house 7 go somewhere besides the grocery. lol
Well I need to get myself busy.
Take care
Anita
January 16, 2022 at 8:27 am #1453905Good morning all,
I breathe a breath of relief and know moving forward with my job will be tons better now emotionally. I am also hoping that it will be a good fit mentally and just the right bit challenging. If not, when I am ready to either go to part time or retire, I will have that choice. The best thing is that I will be able to keep a schedule whereby I will still be able to have a day off during the week and just work on Saturday mornings, which I prefer.
To all wishing me the best, I thank you deeply! Having your “distant” support means a lot, especially now that I have gotten to “know” some of you on Zoom!
Slept 12+ hours last night and feel great! I really needed it….sun is shining very brightly, but it is in the single digits and the snow and big northeastern storm will begin later on. It varies as to what the amounts will be, but it could be devastating. How odd that it is so serene now…
After I shower, I will make my Sunday trip to the Y to lift some weights and maybe head to the health food store by the mall for some smaller items.
Because it is Martin Luther King day tomorrow, any cars on the road will be light, a good thing. When I change where I work, I will be going from 25 miles round trip to about three….
Going to enclose my tree study JJ requested (autumn paintings added to the mix next class), and a painting we did in parts a couple of classes before that.
Love you guys!
Adena
January 16, 2022 at 8:31 am #1453907A good Sunday to all…..we got about 2″ of snow last night. It ‘s a wet snow and the paved areas were still to warm to accumulate any snow, just slush. That’s all we’ve heard about for the past 3 days…”snow’s coming, get ready”……you’d thought it was the start of the next ice age. Snowmegedon…..not surprised, let a thunderstorm come through and it’s wall to wall coverage…..oh well, it’ll be gone by this evening. Tuesday we’ll be back in t he 50’s for the high.
Today’s going to be a rest day……..shoulders are really hurting this morning and my coordination is way off…..not a good condition to have when you’re handling sharp tools or trowels trying to get a smooth surface mudding…………I’ll watch some football, nap and maybe even sketch a bit…..or not.
Put out some bird seed in the feeder this morning and barely stepped away before the first flight of birds pounced on the feeder……cleaned the snow off the windshields of the vehicles and thought this is perfect snow for snow balls, just wet enough………formed one and placed a perfect shot to the front door from about 40’ away. Hit right in front of the storm door, right at the bottom of it…..Lisa said the cats and dog scattered to hiding spots causing quite the traffic jamb as they went in opposing directions…………..second snow ball landed just inches away from where the first one hit…..peppering the bottom of Lisa’s robe with “snow shrapnel” just as she opened the storm door………..2 perfect snow ball pitches, I’m gonna retire while I’m on top.
Greetings to all here and those to come……….may you day, evening or night be blessed. BBL
Be good, do good……STAY SAFE!
Steve.
Pain and heartaches aren't options in life........misery is a choice.
January 16, 2022 at 9:21 am #1453919Lovely sun and -12C at the moment but it will warm up for the snow storm tonight. I hope it is not too bad, limits my walking till the sidewalks are cleared. My groceries will come just before the Zoom but I really want to get to you, I may be late. Thanks for the nice comments re GGS, he has certainly livened up the family, in a good way.
I saw the video of the shock wave around the world from the volcano, fascinating! Hope there was not too much lasting damage there Lulu in the North Island. Yes, rest in the heat. I couldn’t survive here without air conditioning. One can see why the siesta is the way of life in the Mediterranean in the summer.
I’ve been keeping up with Raxu who used to be on this site in the ‘old days’. Such creative and interesting work, now she has a web-site worth looking at. She is doing a lot of monoprints, just delightful!
I like that photo, Sylvia, very dramatic.
Bill, you mentioned the Wolf moon and it made me think of a page on FaceBook called Mi’kmaw Moons. The owners of that site describe the moons and their meaning and their setting in the belief systems of the Mi’kmaw society each month as they come up. Here is a news story describing it. I can’t see a website for them, perhaps they are only on FB.
Very nice paintings, Adena, so good that you are making time to do that
Just another talent, Steve! We haven’t had snowball snow here yet, such a strange winter.
Thanks Uschi, he is certainly an interesting child. Good that you saw family yesterday.
Hi Joy, JJ, Doug, Anita, Betty, Kay and all to come!
:grouphug:
Cheers, Lynn
