No bus to the store, so I had to sketch! Installment two of the muscari, amazing how much growth in one day.
Cheers, Lynn

Tanja…great composition of a handful of pasta…very good. Like the cheerful primrose too. My sketches are done very quickly…look really crude to me, far from finished paintings!
Kaiser…absolutely awesome cow…
Bill…muffins look delicious, wish I had one right now.
Kate…great drawing of mixer…love the on/off switch & cropping…ur good
Lynn…charming bunch of flowers-like the way you did the paper
Betty…super sketch…do skunk weed attract or repel skunks?
Uschi…LOVE the spices…great job on them

"Ring the bells that still can ring, Forget your perfect offering, There is a crack in everything, That's how the light gets in" Leonard CohenMarch 19, 2020 at 12:00 pm #960398I love seeing all of the comments from our group!
We understand Doug — your group is lucky to have you working on this.
I’m enjoying your participation Tanja and your internal argument with yourself about inside or outside made me smile. Your primrose sketch today is wonderfully fresh and charming.
Wow Lynn — so much growth in such a short time! Isn’t nature remarkable? And your sketch is very assured and confident. What a great idea to think about making your sketchbooks. I have a couple of almost empty ones I bought when I first started watercolors that I’d love to fill so making my own is a way off.
Interesting comments about the composition of the mixer. I just set it down on my painting table without giving composition much thought and that’s how it landed.

March 19, 2020 at 12:33 pm #960345Thanks Kate! I like to make books, have done quite a few, different kinds of bindings. Not sure if I’ll just get rings for this one or do sewn binding, don’t have much margin available.

My dear SIL made me the cozy blanket for a gift because I sent her a painting…fair trade! Sharpie & wc. This was fun to do because it is basically a contour drawing, which I haven’t done for awhile. It’s about 5″ x 7″.

March 19, 2020 at 4:46 pm #960297Lynn, I love how you did the paper wrap around the pot. Of course the rest is lovely too:)
Tanja, clean, fresh an colourful primrose!!! as to my use of sloppy, you are right it does have a negative connotation except for me it is a positive:) Imagine someone who has an immaculate home vs. someone like a student or teenager whose room is sloppy, that is like my normal way to paint vs. how I want my sketches to be – sloppy:)
Maribeth, I just saw your chair, it and the blanket looks great and comfy!!
My latest sketch, one of my pantry shelves. The boxes are easy, bags are hard like that flour bag in the middle is not very descriptive.

March 19, 2020 at 5:33 pm #960399I love your comfy chair Maribeth and the story about the throw. Your contours are excellent!
Nice “sloppy” one Uschi! Are you pleased? Interestingly enough, sloppy has always been my natural style and I’ve never been happy with the more precise work I occasionally do.
My flower arrangement is sketched on my 6″x8″ sketchbook using an .02 Lictin pen and miscellaneous paints from my everyday palette. The vase is large — about 18″ tall and the flowers are about 8″ across. The vase was hand-built by a now deceased friend and is precious to me. It has been knocked over and repaired several times.

March 20, 2020 at 8:00 am #960427Today: my favorite chair: this is the tripod chair that we carry along when we are tent camping – love it and all the memories that go with it…
Lynn: the second muscari painting looks so nice, I bet the two sketches will look great when they are framed together…
Maribeth: lovely comfy chair (much more comfortable than my tripod) and great warm colors that are complemented by the fresh blanket
Uschi: your pantry looks great and I had no problem recognizing the flour package – it is the most interesting bit of the painting!
Kate: your vase is great: the delicate colors and flowers and the warm, earthy vase… and again a great crop
Have a great weekend and stay safe – I am actually happy that the weather turned bad, because this will hopefully prevent the idiots from hanging out together and passing the virus on…

March 20, 2020 at 8:15 am #960372Lynn…love the second version of the flowers in the pot
Uschi…very organized pantry! Nice colorful sketch
Kate…that is a gorgeous vase & has special meaning…beautiful sketch
Tanja…when you are camping a chair like this is very comfortable…love it!Maribeth
March 20, 2020 at 10:39 am #960324Maribeth, what a comfortable looking chair. It looks so cozy. Great sketch!
Uschi, boxes and bags give great opportunities for darks and lights. A great sketch.
Kate, a beautiful vase and flowers. Nice sketch.
Tanja, it’s great to sketch whatever is handy. This could have been complicated but you did it justice. Great sketch.
This is a view from my window. The figure was sent to me by JJ as a Holiday card years ago. It stays on my windowsill always.
Drawn with micron pen and painted with watercolor pencils on my 4″x6″ pad. I was trying to show it in silhouette. BillBe kinder than necessary
March 20, 2020 at 11:02 am #960346Love all the sketches! I have my little koala somewhere too Bill
Super vase and flowers Kate, look like dried hydrangeas, I’ll give my photo of them from the street yesterday a try….you inspire me!
A camping seat Tanja, I know so well how those camping memories come back. I am on the verge of being unable to go anymore, at least not as we used to.
Uschi, that’s beautifully casual, not sloppy, lines with character
Love the chair Maribeth, I want to sit in it!
Cheers, Lynn

I’m not, and never have been, a camper, but I always took the chair along when I was standing on the sidelines watching my kids play soccer. Happy memories. And I love the simplicity of your sketch.
Your sketch of JJ’s card and the view beyond is delightful Bill. It is wonderful how close the WC Washers are! Nice sketch of your lovely property.
By the way Lynn, the flowers in the vase are very large blooms — possibly chrysanthemums — made of multicolored paper. I look forward to seeing your hydrangea sketch!
Will sketch something from the list today and then post next week’s photo and topics for our intrepid group of sketchers. Am absolutely loving this diversion!

March 20, 2020 at 1:59 pm #960298Kate, gorgeous vase, you presented it beautifully and I love the colours in your flowers!!
Tanja, I never had a stool like that but very handy and yours is looking good out there in nature!
Bill, interesting and fun card and you did a good job with it!! Too bad that you couldn’t draw Ms. Feral on your windowsill, foolish girl:)
One of my chairs, many of you will recognize it instantly as an Ikea chair:) I did use a few pencil lines to keep the size and perspective reasonably right.
