Yippee Uschi! I absolutely understand how you feel about sketching with pen. It’s a challenge. I love the freshness of your sketch.
Thanks for the tip about garlic powder!

March 18, 2020 at 5:21 am #960424Good morning,
wow: so many exciting sketches to look at: my apologies if I forget to mention yours specifically: they are all very vivid and great to look at:Uschi: you think you did almost everything wrong, but you have created a lively sketch that is so pleasant to look at!
Zelda: your quick water color is lovely, how those flowers are clamping to the edge of the bowl
Betty nice sketches from live animals which is really hard to do, since they are moving
Lynn: The blue cats on the window sill are so alive I thought these were real cats and not made from plaster
Carol: lovely bird feeders how they are hanging from those delicate lines…
Bill: your veggies look great, I like the purple shadows, this purple seems to be a recurring theme in your sketches
Maribeth: what a nice little painting (not a sketch any more from my point of view): I like how you use negative space for the fence in the foreground and the fence in the background is lovely and the sky and the birds….
Kate: the crape myrtle – I miss them, we don’t have them here in Germany, at least I have never seen one – waiting to bloom in front of the mountains: are there some little birds on the branches?finally I am sharing my sketch from today: something from my pantry
Have a good one and wash those hands

March 18, 2020 at 9:40 am #960338Yes, it is intimidating Uschi, I messed around delaying yesterday but finally got the pen down on the paper, and made mistakes of course, but it was fun! Yours is so nice and fresh, I can’t get there just yet but I will.
Very confident Tanja, no mistaking it!
Very fine sketch indeed, Kaiser Louis! Makes me want to duck away
Cheers, Lynn

Wow Kaiser Louis — amazing!

March 18, 2020 at 11:45 am #960350Kate, thanks so much for this site. I love looking at all the beautiful sketches. And it actually got me to do something! DGD and I will do more sketching at our pond. Betty
March 18, 2020 at 2:04 pm #960318I bought some English muffin tins and made some hamburger buns yesterday.
I did sketch this out in light pencil and then lightly inked. I used Derwent watercolor pencils, micron pen and a wet brush. All on my 4″x6″ drawing pad.

March 18, 2020 at 2:11 pm #960319I’m keeping in mind this is not a competition but a place to just post some quick sketches and enjoy each other’s work. And also trying to keep within the boundaries of the suggested subject matter. This is all great practice and those who take part will see their work improve through time. Don’t be afraid. No sketch is a bad sketch.

March 18, 2020 at 3:08 pm #960394Nice one Bill (and yum)! Thanks also for the reminder about the purpose of the thread. Sticking to the listed topics makes us recognize the sketching opportunities that are all around us.
I keep all of my kitchen appliances in my pantry, so this fits the “pantry” topic for me. Drawn first with my .02 Lictin pen then painted with miscellaneous brand watercolors on my 8×5 140# sketchbook. Loving the practice!

March 18, 2020 at 3:31 pm #960339I wish I had those in my kitchen Bill, just threw out my last stale Italian bun. Still, have some frozen bread…
Lovely Kate, it makes a nice complicated pattern!
These are my little muscari that I found in my favourite greengrocer this morning. Fabriano 140lb, WN paints and .03 Micron pen.
I spent some time photographing in gardens and at the creek while I was out, but what I got was too complicated for sketching. Love the winter hydrangeas but they don’t lend themselves to a simple sketch.
Cheers, Lynn

March 18, 2020 at 3:50 pm #960395I love your muscari sketch Lynn. Are they what we used to call grape hyacinths in New Zealand? Love the purplish blue wrapper — so rich.
I really like your skunk cabbages Betty — have no idea what they’ll become but I really like your sketch!
