Out in the country for a few days- a great opportunity to learn a bit more about greens and process. It’s all good!

Nice work, Ken! You sure had a great variety of greens to study. I like the second painting a lot. There’s such a quiet mood under that sky.

Thanks Donna! Out here there are a lot of greens, you know. The second is an unremarkable scene, but the gentle sunset got pretty spectacular as it went- this is the beginning. You can’t see the bugs though!

Both nice Ken, but I have to agree with Donna.. you’ve caught something special in that second piece. Really nice! :wink2:

Thanks very much Michael! I appreciate it- it was a scramble once set up, and the bugs were enjoying an evening snack (not—lots of bugspray!) but still, Oh, so many and so close.

Do you mix your greens, or do you start with a few off the shelf colors and adjust as needed?

If you’re talking about ‘off the shelf’ greens like Sap Green, Permanent Green, or others, no. I mix using mainly blues and yellows- is that what you meant?

You are welcome Thomas– I think it’s the only way I’ll learn about them (maybe like cooking more from scratch).

Thomas– I’m glad it may help you. Acrylics were in my process for a long while, but I much prefer oils now as they seem easier. Look forward to your posts!
