Hi David, I love your watercolour painting of Bass Rock it is so full of atmosphere and transparency! It is a scene that can be repeated many times and always something new will emerge!
Well done!

Winston Churchill.February 18, 2023 at 1:57 pm #1502796Hi Moscatel I think the flowers would be nice by the Highland Cow! why not try it and see. Or even try another version. I think the experiments are so worthwhile. Thank you again for your interest in the challenge.

Winston Churchill.February 18, 2023 at 5:49 pm #1502813Hi All – I took another trip back to Bass Rock. Thought I would do a bigger one, but I didn’t. I went smaller. Anyway, 4×4, Acrylic, on a Blick Board, using a limited palette which I really like (Yellow Ochre, Burnt Umber, Ultramarine blue, Ivory Black and White). Cheers

February 18, 2023 at 6:35 pm #1502815Carl, thank you. Your painting of Bass Rock has a good mood. It’s nice to paint small studies sometimes and not to go directly to the large one. Limited palette is nice and practical.
Kay, thank you!
Caroline, thanks! I added the flowers, white ones. Will see if I need to add some more visible when it dries a little. Might post it later again with the flower field.
February 18, 2023 at 7:35 pm #1502825Carl that looks so awesome and moody! I love the limited palette and the rich textural look.
Thanks to all for your comments on mine!

February 24, 2023 at 12:12 pm #1503563That’s great Carl! The earthy colours are beautiful and I like the pale sky which sets off the painting really well!

Winston Churchill.February 24, 2023 at 10:39 pm #1503600Carl, love your yellow field watercolor painting ..
… still going back to your previous one -Bass Rock, it’s so strong little painting, has Old Master’s feel!
Would be lovely if you hosted the next month. Thank you for doing it!
February 24, 2023 at 11:12 pm #1503602Kay, you could add me to host one of the available months in spring/summer. I have time and plenty of photo refs taken on my car trips through Europe. I have hosted twice before in the Old WC (landscape).
