CokeR, that’s a mighty Highland cow done in a loose manner. Size?

February 5, 2023 at 11:34 am #1501109David, am I right in thinking that you used to post a few links to videos of your paintings in progress? I seem to remember something regarding you painting with a 24 dagger brush.

I did post some links, but I used an angle brush for most of the paintings, those were all in acrylic and oil. https://www.youtube.com/@vangoghsear1
EDIT: I remembered I do have one acrylic dagger brush and I did use that on my Yosemite National Park painting. I find the watercolor version, especially the #24, holds a lot more water and paint. Different animal.

Winston Churchill.February 6, 2023 at 3:43 pm #1501336Hi All –
David – Nice job on the watercolor tree. A good splash of different colors and a nice looking tree.
Caroline – lovely sketched trees. And the leaf is well done. I especially like the atmospheric castle watercolor. Amazing colors in that sky!
CokeR – I like your loose style of the Highland cow. A nice blend of colors too. Well done.

February 6, 2023 at 3:48 pm #1501337I took a walk up to the location of the field with the trees today. Mainly to celebrate that February is here and after seeing the snowdrops the world looked a better place. I took a photo for Donna as she messaged me to say if she had been able she would have painted this scene which I originally posted here, it is set in the summer with the trees in full leaf and the field a golden colour. Look at it today
I have also posted a photo of the snowdrops and also the road back home!Caroline

Winston Churchill.February 6, 2023 at 7:27 pm #1501357Here is my version of the Highland steer or bull, don’t think it is a cow with those longhorn type really long horns. Size 5.5×8.5 ” in Masters Touch sketchbook using opaque watercolors.
The extra photos are really nice!

February 6, 2023 at 8:12 pm #1501363Thanks Carl!
Here is what I learned: “…horns of males and females do differ slightly. The male’s horns are shorter, thicker and only curve upwards a little. While the female’s horns are longer, thinner and curve upwards more.”
