Continuing with birds …this one was just for fun (and to learn).
We have five pair that live nearby our home – they’re always at the feeders.
I’m happy with most of it – but not the tail feathers. I either need more detail, or far less.
C&C welcome. This weekend I’m going to play with architecture.

It’s always remarkable to see the five males and their mates (a bit less bright) every day at our feeders. Such a treat.

February 21, 2019 at 11:52 am #785172I love the cardinal, we saw many of them when we lived in Richmond, Virginia. You have captured him well!

February 21, 2019 at 1:55 pm #785167Excellent Mr Williams – IMO the painting is just right! Like good poetry. 👍👍👍
As long as there is light, I will paint it.
February 21, 2019 at 9:04 pm #785162Very nice! I like that the bird takes center stage. I think feathers can be tricky and will be trying my hand at some of those soon with a rooster. You have done a lovely Cardinal.

February 22, 2019 at 7:35 am #785165Thomas, I thought of your paintings this morning when i got to my grandmother’s house in South Florida. She’s originally from rural Maryland and comes from a long line of duck hunters who carve their own decoys. One of her nephew’s carves and paints these as well. There are so many more species around the house, but I didn’t want to derail your thread. I can PM more photos of them if you’d like.
Keep painting your awesome bird paintings!
Mike
