I hope this isn’t a stupid question. But I love painting plein air. Now that I’m getting older, it’s harder to hold back for a long time to releave ones bladder when nature calls. I’m ok in wooded ares, secluded beaches. But what do others do when in more populated ares. I wouldn’t dare leave my equipment alone to go. Like at the Ocean City Inlet , painting a seascpe, no rest rooms around. I hope this didn’t sound silly. Thank you.

November 17, 2021 at 2:17 am #1446580It’s not silly, I’m at that age too. You could wear a diaper just in case or use a pee bottle discreetly under your clothes or a cloth.
I sketch in watercolours so it is easy to pack up but you could stay near your car.

November 17, 2021 at 6:59 am #1446615Hunter, I’m at that age too. Rather inconvenient to say the least!
I do two things that you might consider: 1) I organize a plein air group, so I always have others around to watch my stuff; 2) I deliberately choose locations for the group (mostly middle age) that have a bathroom or port-o-potty around. Sometimes the latter isn’t possible, and that’s usually less of a problem for the men than the women, so I always warn them NOT to drink a lot (especially coffee and tea or other diuretics) before we paint.
Otherwise, rig yourself (or buy a popup) privacy screen and use your bottle.
November 17, 2021 at 2:47 pm #1446690Thanks Bartc, I’m going to O.C. Md for the week of Thanksgiving vacation, I’ll be there 4 days. I plan on painting everyday. I’ll keep the fluids down, and have a nice coffe after the painting session. Thanks all.

November 18, 2021 at 6:22 am #1446748Hunter, try something like this pop up privacy tent. Cheap, easy and lightweight. Gives you someplace you can set up next to your easel and use your Coke bottle.
