This first one is about 14×17 on hardboard:
Acrylic wash underpainting first:
In this next one, I was thinking of Charles Sheeler and Wayne Thiebaud:
Transfer to board:
a little abstract for me, but fun to try. It is a re-do in oils, previously an acrylic.

C&C always welcome.

Critiques and comments are always welcome.
April 10, 2018 at 10:25 pm #602623Always inspired by your work, NJ buddy.
Both excellent but the lower one has a more engaging composition.I only regret not drinking more champagne -

http://billfitzgerald.blogspot.com/April 11, 2018 at 6:18 am #602626Love the colors and composition of the barn. The first one of the houses is a nice painting, especially the lively shapes and colors in the trees, but it is also quite neutral, it doesn’t grab me. The second one does.

April 12, 2018 at 6:52 pm #602628I agree with you guys: composition is key. The second one has a more dynamic feel. I’ll tell you though, a lot of rendering went into the 1st one. The 1st painting is a barn; only a rare concrete barn. I could not get the yellow to come out in the sky when posting.
Thanks to all for the comments. I’m doing some experimentation. and having fun.

https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1431363April 14, 2018 at 5:22 pm #602619wow …they are both lovely but the tree in the middle of the first and the composition and impact of the second as a whole blows my socks off!
Thank you for posting the images of your painting progress …they are really helpful. And the one showing your planning regarding perspective shows how important it is …time consuming and often confusing but so so important.Bec

I like what you describe as your abstract painting, the last one. I think it has really nice depth.

https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1431363April 19, 2018 at 12:52 am #602635I exceedingly love this progression. The last oil version I don’t understand as ‘finished’. (The central greens are a bit ‘much’ for my eyes) … (but I love it the most.)
Utmost blessings!
