Hi Nancy!!!
Most places will fix lower sodium dishes if you ask. Also, ask if they will either do a half portion, or split it: half on you plate, half in a to go box. Restaurants serve portions that tend to be twice a big as they should be anyway.
I hope you get back to painting soon, it is a marvelous tonic, and your idea for a painting sounds wonderful!

Becca's Fine ArtJune 9, 2018 at 9:51 pm #632496Becca and Marcia:heart: , I’m preparing a whole lot of questions for the cardiologist, in ink, to ask him lots of questions – my daughter insists that I’m too shy with my doctors, and since she works in a hospital in MA testing patient cultures, I’m doing, I hope, the right thing. I’m not very good at this, but she has now convinced me that I need to remember everything before I see him, or any other doc.
Also taking you advice on the restaurant. You’re such good friends!:grouphug:

June 10, 2018 at 2:16 am #632380Hey hey everyone, been spending what little time I get on the forums spreading my typing time around a bit. Hopefully you all are coping well with the doctor’s visits and such. I don’t have cat pics to share, but here it is the middle of the night for me and I found myself looking through some old photos when I found this gem:
Mmmm. Asparagus wrapped in bacon and drizzled with a brown sugar butter sauce… now I am hungry for them and it is the middle of the night and the store is closed so I cannot simply go buy the ingredients. Ah well, gotta go to the store tomorrow I guess.

Becca's Fine ArtJune 10, 2018 at 10:23 am #632531Good Morning Oilycats!!!
I got a very late start yesterday, but painted, with the goal to at least cover the canvas. I had toned several with a turquoise color (although I have forgotten why) and painting over them is quite a color challenge, it totally throws off my mixes. I am thinking it is time to start another large one. Still feeling a bit challenged by the lack of wall space to hang stuff.
Can’t say I am crazy about this artist’s style, Mark, but different tastes make the world go ’round. Good luck with the MRI, waiting and not knowing is hard, hope they figure out what’s ailin’ you. Glad you can focus on your family and art, that should be a tremendous help to your well being.
Delo, that pic looks amazing, I am going to have to put the ingredients on my shopping list. Is it broiled, baked or grilled? I might drizzle them with maple syrup instead. I have been following your sketchbook thread, looking forward to more!
Becca, sorry summer hasn’t been a frequent visitor for you yet. Temps here are forecast for triple digits this week, so maybe you will get a little warm up too? Then dropping back into the High 80s here by next weekend.
I don’t usually like the ‘instructive’ Simon’s cat videos, but this one is illustrated in a pen and ink (or pen & ‘something’) style that is really nice.

But the tomb of the unknown artist is nowhere to be found."June 10, 2018 at 10:43 am #632438You are right Marcia…painting on a toned canvas is more of a challenge than white as it takes some conviction to believe the colour you have mixed is what you are laying down…in the end it is all worth it…but until you are about 3/4 the way through you just have to have faith…
as for the weather…we are to have sun tomorrow and Tuesday…no great warm up to speak of.. low 70s and maybe see 80 on Tuesday…
guess it’s all moot anyway, just left here waiting for resolution to issues, but is always good to see a little sunshine.

Becca's Fine ArtJune 10, 2018 at 11:53 am #632399Hi everyone! I’ve been busy with painting and with the film festival, which ends today. I haven’t commented but have lurked a bith.
Becca, we’ve probably been experiencing about the same weather-wise, but for me rain is forcast nearly every day all this week. This time of year in the NW is always so frustrating with it’s mixture of glorious sunny days in the 70s and then dreary rain for more than a week. But summer’s on it’s way…
Marcia, too bad about the tire but I’m glad to hear that the VW bus painting went well and hope to see it soon. Good timing too, as the first payment will take care of the time. Cute cat thermometer. Happy painting!
Nancy, I agree with Marcia and Becca – you can probably ask for a salt-free dish and the restaurant should be happy to make one for you. Good thinking about preparing your list of questions for the cardiologist and best wishes.
Mark, best wishes to you too with the MRI. You’re right to focus on painting and family. Please keep us posted – we’re all hoping for a good outcome. Re: the paintings, I’m guessing David Park, but it could be one of the other Bay Area Figurative painters. I love them too.
OMG, Delo, I’m feeling ravenous just looking at that photo! I hope you’re able to make it today – it looks yummy.
Marcia, I can’t imagine a turquoise toned canvas, but I’m sure it really is a challenge. I’m curious to hear how you resolve it.
I’ve got a painting I’m working on for my landscape painting class and will post it when it’s complete. It’s been a terrific class for me as the instructor teaches a systematic way of approaching a painting that is just what I needed.

June 10, 2018 at 12:20 pm #632381Marcia, it is baked at 350° or so degrees for around 30 minutes, melt butter and mix in brown sugar on stove top over a low heat, drizzle sauce over after removing bundles from oven. My wife made these the first time around 8 years ago and we loved them so much that I snapped that photo, some of the most delicious things I have ever tasted. You could use green beans or other vegetables instead of asparagus if you want some variety.
- Delo DelofashtJune 10, 2018 at 12:31 pm #632439delo…I bet those would grill nicely too…
marcia, until Anne’s post didn’t catch ‘turquoise’…may be interesting for landscapes…but blues under skin tones tend to make the skin tones go black over a little time…

Becca's Fine ArtJune 10, 2018 at 1:09 pm #632532Delo, thanks for the recipe, sounds simple enough.
Becca, that is interesting about skintones. There is an artist in Palm Springs (many others too, I am sure), who tones her canvas with bright orange, and the results are just gorgeous.
Hi Annie!
I will post a pic later today.New link to my latest work.[/url]
"The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier they dug on hallowed ground
But the tomb of the unknown artist is nowhere to be found."June 10, 2018 at 2:58 pm #632387Yes Annie it is David Park. Well I love him along with most of the Bay Area Figuratve painters.
Well here is the thing. I have a lump on my neck ( not huge) but probably best not there. Problem is there is a huge amount going on in that area and the doc says it could be where the nerves for the facial muscles run.
Hence the MRI. Well apart from obvious concerns about what it might or might not surgery consequences could be porentially severe… But I dont know and they can do amazing stuff these days so it is wait and see
Still feeling blue and not knowing all the facts makes it kind of worse.
