I haven’t been out plein air painting for quite a while, the local plein air group was meeting not too far a away so I joined them. It was sunny with a chilly gusty wind, and I went to adjust the easel which was rattling the picture as I painted and as I went to adjust it the wind took it and planted it on my palette… time to stop!
Wind blew my whole easel and dirty paint water over a finished acrylic and destroyed it one time. Fortunately, there was time on site to paint over the destruction, though it never looked as good to me.
I think the effect here is kind of interesting, BTW.
this prompted many tales of similar distasters from just about every other painter… we are not alone!
I wasn’t really concerned as it was just about getting out and trying to paint something, but I did have a go at seeing if I could rectify it and make some alterations after I got home.
Very nice! I agree with the blue on the wall adding something, and also the shadow behind the house is more mysterious now. And the blue added to the field in front is certainly not unwelcome.
