We know (and miss!) Tom Christopher in this forum! He has a wonderful sense of color and lately he has been incorporating texture in his work by applying pastel over select sections of acrylic paint. He described his process not long ago in The Pastel Journal and it’s fascinating.
Thank you for pointing out Norman Smith. I wasn’t familiar with his work and it was such a pleasure to explore his website. In his Philosophy section he says “My painting has grown out of frustration. Not satisfied with recording what is in front of me I have tried to distil colours to make them work harder and to better effect.” I am at the frustration stage but nowhere near his ability to make colors work so effectively so I find his work very inspiring!
