Yellow wash painted. |
Paint lifted with a damp brush |

Giving highlight on side of apple |
Red color placed on side of apple |
|
Both sides softened with a damp brush, also left side of apple dampened. |
Red paint now applied onto wet surface, soft edge produced. |
|
|
So
there are two methods.
1. apply paint onto dry paper and soften with a damp brush. 2. Wet paper first and then apply paint onto wet surface. Experiment with both - remember one rule: With wet-into-wet, it is not so wet into wet. In other words, the paint you are applying to the wet paper must be a thicker mix (less water). |

|
| The
advantage of painting still life is that you can concentrate on one small
area at a time. If you mess up, don't worry! Simply wet and lift
what you can with tissue.
Allow it to dry thoroughly and then apply new washes to correct. As you see, I fixed my sloppy apple. :-) |
