Watercolour Painting, My Way : Shagrock, Sumner

Texture is added to the foreground beach, following the curved water line.
The first wash is applied to the rock using Light Red, Burnt Umber, and Cobalt Blue. Change colors randomly, allowing each to merge while wet.
Scumbling with a rigger is my way of producing rock texture.

A rigger brush has very long hairs, as it was originally designed for painting the rigging of sailing ships!

Very fine lines can be painted, and the brush holds a suprisingly large amount of paint.
