Watercolour Painting  My Way : Magnolias

Make up two washes.

Alizarin Crimson/French Ultramarine to produce a purple.

Alizarin Crimson with just a touch of Ultramarine.

Try each mix on a piece of scrap paper, further modify if necessary.

Choose the colors to suit your taste.

Light wash applied to rear petals and edges softened with a damp brush.

Front petals brushed with clear water and purple mix applied wet into wet.
Process repeated one petal at a time. Allowing each one to dry before starting the next.

Water being applied to middle petal.

Purple mix applied while paper wet - see how the paint spreads while wet paint is added and moved around with the brush?

Once the paper starts to dry, you must stop or "runbacks" will occur.
