Re: Weeders Plein Aire 2012
Thanks, Bonnie. I look forward to "which view should I sketch today?" So far I'm trying for the views that will be too bright and too hot when the weather warms up just in the event that I'm still doing this when the weather warms up. I'd sure like to continue. There is so much practice I need to do.

The perspective here is incorrect. The left roofline should slant the opposite way. Funny how it takes uploading it here to see that.
#51
This is a funny 80's style breezeway between buildings.
#52
The perspective of the structure around this pond is incorrect. I guess this was not my week.
#53
For this one: pencil then wc then some ink; also I put a drop of water from my waterbrush into each colour well before I began painting so the colours are so much richer. Happy Happy Happy!
#54
This one I rushed and it shows.

I would join in here but I only paint indoors - apart from these 2 little ones I did last week.

Re: Weeders Plein Aire 2012
Eeps, thanks for keeping these threads alive! Your cityscapes are inspirational.
Great little winterscapes, Bonnie, and Ros, with this quality I don't think you can say you "don't do plein air", because these are fabulous. Do more!
I've been keeping an eye on these threads but have gotten way behind in posting them, so here are a few going back to November.
First ones are Switzerland. At Zermatt I only had a 4x4 brown-paper sketchbook and a couple of pencils, but I had to try the Matterhorn view from our window, just so i can say I did it.
The early morning sun was hitting it and there was a small cloud.
Julie gave me this teeny 1x1-inch "sketch pad" that came with some cheese and I couldn't resist a couple of mountain views with a ballpoint pen. There's a Smurf on each page too.
We spent a couple of days in the Italian part of Sz and had time to work on some PAs in Locarno, by the lake. This is oil pastels on Wallis Belgian Mist, 5x7.
A couple of months of studio work back home, then...Cuba, on the beach. Here's my travel OP kit, with my 5x7 fake moleskine and 5x7 support board made of 2 pieces of cheap foamcore duck-taped together. I keep small pieces of tape around the edges to tape the paper onto the board.
and the result, 5x7 on UART. I left out the sunbathers.
some flowers by the pool, ATC size
Lastly, back home, when we had a couple of days of record-breaking warm weather, I could sit by the river in a t-shirt with the same kit. That's ice on the far side of the river. 5x7
Caught up! Sorry to be so long-winded!

Gorgeous work, Wendy!! How did you even hold a 1x1" book to sketch in it? It would be lost beneath my hand Maybe you could do zentangles and incorporate the smurf
Bonnie - thanks and get walking!!!

Re: Weeders Plein Aire 2012
wendy fabulous sketches, I like your travel kit but arent those softies, not OPs? I can make one of these for SP from a cigar box I have, SPs are better for landscapes for me anyway
I have a 2x2" sketchbook my friend brought me from mexico, I think I have to add it to my travel kit,
EP- getting closer (2 wks) will add a couple later today I have saved for the scavenger hunt

Nope, they're opies.
Another great pile of watercolours, Bonnie! I like that street scene. Good to have a sketchbook for when you're waiting for whatever. I have a whole collection of parking-lot plein airs ;at the orthodontist, bus depot, etc etc.
I used to have a film about Joe Fafard in my classroom from when he was making all those cows.

Great scenes out and about (oot and aboot?) in Regina, Bonnie. I love to see the street fronts and the structures in the parks.
