Question New! with questions

I'm new here and very impatient. I posted a work-in-progress last night and I'm anxiously waiting for some comments.

How long does it usually take for someone to post a critique? If no one comments does that mean it's really bad? Are people more likely to comment on work from someone they already know, like a long-time member? If I like how someone else has critiqued others' work should I send them a personal message?

I'm solitary-- like my user name suggests-- and need human interaction via computer and interwebs! Not only that but I'm a stereotypical 'needy' artist person.

Actually maybe background info would help. I worked as a graphic designer for about 10 years and I'm used to getting critiqued, criticized, and constant feedback when I work. Maybe too much because now I have no sense of whether anything is any good and I need someone to tell me what to do, otherwise I just feel stuck. (I could probably use some advice in that area as well--trusting creative instincts and such.)

Not sure if it's conveyed in this message, but I like to joke around and I appreciate humor, so feel free to be sarcastic and stuff.

Ok. That's all for now. Thanks for reading.

Re: New! with questions

I corrected the title for you.

You will often get a quicker response if you post in a medium specific forum. Mixed Media would be the appropriate one in your case.

Hi and a warm welcome to the Wet Canvas Community

This is a very large site with a lot going on in the forums. Be sure to check out the subject and medium forums as well as some of the special interest forums. There is something here for every artist and all levels of expertise. All are welcome, so don’t be shy about posting or starting threads.

A good place to start your WC! experience is to read some of the articles in the links found in the signature lines of some of the mods and guides - they contain some very useful information which will help you to navigate and participate in WC!

If you have any problems, just drop back here to New Users and we’ll be happy to help.

Have fun and enjoy Wet Canvas!
