"Polar Fleece"

Hi Everyone

It has been a very long while since I posted here in the Gallery and quite a while since I have painted much of anything.

I have a Great Nephew "Aiden" who is due to be born the end of the month. I thought I would try and paint him an animal and settled on a Polar Bear and Cub. Other than a few birds this is my first animal.

1/4 sheet, 200 lb Saunders Waterford paper using a mix of M Graham and Davinci paint. As the final step, I touched up the ends of their fur with Dr Martins Bleedproof White and then splattered it with a toothbrush to create a snowy effect

Your comments and critiques are greatly encouraged and much appreciated.

I have also posted this in the Studio as a WIP and will X post in the Wildlife Forum.

Cheers,

Gail

Prima Darstellung der Bärenfamilie!
Das Fell ist sehr gut umgesetzt.

Beautifully done Gail, very realistic fur and it looks very cold. A lovely gift for your new Great Nephew.

I love them. I want to pet them and hold them and protect them...

Gail, what a wonderful keepsake painting this is... If we didn't know better, we'd think you've been painting fur on a regular basis...

Mom makes me chuckle, btw... she looks so exasperated...

Yes, this is so lovely. The fur looks so soft and you can just tell they have love for each other. I love your background and snow too. Great job Gail!

Re: "Polar Fleece"

Thanks to all of you for stopping in and providing your encouraging comments.

Ernst Danke !

Doug, thank you.. It is a lot colder than it is here, that is for sure..

Joan, It took a few washes to create the shading. I was nervous

Char, Mom is exasperated because it took me so long to get her done while baby rested on her all finished and all she had was eyes, nose and a muzzle.

Peter and Meimei, thanks for stopping in and commenting Much appreciated.

Darla, thank you.. I am happy that my feelings came through in the painting.

Pat, thanks. Painting winter scenes are my favourite.

Joan (hoylander) I love painting snow and the bears were fun too.

Thanks Lulu ! the title came to me part way through the painting.

Cheers,

Gail
